| KQ1VGA TESTIMONIALS |
Seriously, I would give you an award for best game of the year.
I went to the site - what a beautiful piece of work - It's hard to believe that this is a fan made game. Sure looks professional to me. The download isn't too large-so I intend to download this and give it a run. Wow - great job.
I have to admit that I was skeptical about downloading the KQ1 remake - it's been my experience that most "homemade" games normally suck. However, once I started up KQ1 VGA, I was amazed. You've managed to capture the true essence of the old KQ1 and bring it into blazing color and and life. I am truly in awe. Congratulations on a job very well done.
This is excellent. Truly amazing. I love how you've faithfully recreated the original King's Quest story while updating the technology. I already had high hopes for this project, but it turned out even better than I had expected. Your remake is of a quality many commercial adventure games don't even touch.
The game is excellent. It's of the same quality as all Sierra VGA games are - and it's free.
This game is very well done. I finished it and it was like playing a real sierra game.
I can't wait for their next remake.
This game is fabulous!
This is the coolest thing I have ever seen.
Brilliant on all counts :-D
I just finished it (Yep, I had to use an old walkthrough for some of it because of all the walking dead opportunities in the game), and I think it's great too. I never got very far in the original, but it was hard to stop playing this remake.
Now I won't be able to sleep in the night, just thinking what sierra game will be remade next!
Excellent work! I bet Sierra couldn't do better! I'm really looking forward the see more games from you!
The Sierra fans are gonna love this!
What do you all guys think? It's think it's kinda cute. And it does resemble the KQ5 backgrounds.
YAAAAAAAHOOO!
This is a very cool remake, hope the SQ7 team can make something as good.
I personally give it 2 very enthusiastic thumbs up but maybe that is because I have been waiting 6 months lol.
It's great!
I like the remake. Very cool graphics... (stops and wallows in envy of other's people's artistic skills for a bit)
Very nice play control. And I like the death scenes and messages. (You knew that was coming, didn't you?)
I just beat it yay!!!!! The best part was I never played past getting the mirror in the original! I guess point and click makes things eisier cous there is only a small number of things you can do (rather than trying to "brawl with ogre" with a text parser ) anyways if you haven't tried it out yet PLEASE! do and if you have a 56k modem it is well worth the long download! Stoogefighter rating: 7 thumbs up!!
Greetings!
I played around a bit with the unofficial King's Quest I remake earlier today. While I haven't progressed very far into the game as of yet, let me say that I'm very impressed with what I've seen. AGS certainly seems like a terrific engine for such an endeavor, and the remake artists have done an excellent job bringing this game from its AGI (and later SCI0) roots into rather well-executed VGA. The digital music is also a nice upgrade.
I know that I've been a bit down on the idea of unofficial remakes of the early SQ games in the past, but seeing this one is almost enough to change my mind on the matter. So, somebody get to work!
Good? This is amazing stuff! I didn't know what to think when I downloaded it, but I really had no idea it was going to be this spectacular. Can't wait to get down and spend some time with it. Amazing, guys!
And there is "Royal Quest" still to come !! Hope these people keep up with this great stuff :-D
Those screenshots look great! Makes me wanna vomit! :)
I finally downloaded KQVGA and it's awesome!!! If this is the quality of all fan games, then i can't wait to play your other games.
It is amazing! The best, by far, use I've seen of the AGS engine yet; I am very impressed and encouraged and inspired! Don't know what else I can say, except good work Anony's! I left word at another fan-made sequel website: Starflight III. They have an ezboard similar to this one, and I told them to drop in to your site if they are adventure game fans.
I may bask in the brilliance of YOUR presence! Congratulations, "anonymous" ones. You three did an excellent job on the remake! I was a bit worried I'd be disappointed, but I was amazed by your professionalism! Thanks for your time and efforts! It was definitely worth it!
What can I say- it is everything that I expected from this wonderful remake and more. Excellent manual included with the game, I loved the way it was organized and divided. It was interesting reading the history of the series plus the making of this remake. The animations are very nice to see as well, and I absolutely love the dialogue pictures that come out when you are speaking with another character. I have not finished it yet, but when I do I will report back. Everything has been translated very well, and I am very impressed by how well everything turned out in the game, from the great art, music and overall feel of the game. You have done a great justice to this remake and the dedication and time spent on it shows throughout the entire game.
It a very beautiful manual. I wish I had a printed version of it!
Just finished the game! Ah the memories of of the original Kings Quest.. Still remembered how to finish it too . Didn't get full points though cause I just wanted to see how quick I could do it.
You guys have done an excellent job and I was very impressed with the quality of the game. The game ran well with no major problems on Win2k. I had some sound 'pauses' and 'clicks' but otherwise everything was good. Congrats! And thanks for bringing back some great memories.
I would like to congratulate the Anonymous Game Developers for having made a beautiful, consistent and superb game!
Graphics: Very nice conversion from the SCI
Animations: Perfect
Dialog-pictures: Great
Music: Very nice
Sound: Liked them a lot!
Dialogue: OK
Interface: Good old one...
I dowloaded the Kq1 Remake last night and started playing it this morning...GREAT JOB! I really do consider this to be quality material, and would really like to see it in stores, as would some of my friends who don't have internet connections.
This is the best amateur adventure game I have ever seen. It was pretty high on my book way back when I first discovered this project - and that was before I had played, or even seen much of it. Now that I've had the experience of running it, I find out I wasn't mistaken. It's a lot better than I imagined it to be. It must have been a terrible lot of work to make... and to think this is just the side-project. I can't wait for Royal Quest to finish. Thanks lots, and congratulations
For a amatuer adventure, this is really great. I am highly impressed with the quality of the graphics and the way you stayed true to the KQ legacy. I cant wait to see royal quest and that voice add-on pack!
I downloaded this game on Tuesday soon after it was available. I took my time through the game so that it could last as long as possible. I just finished today and it was worth every minute. It was truly a memorable experience. Seeing the beautiful dialogue screens, the music, animations scattered throughout the game was indeed an experience. Truly a work of art and a fans big smile for translating the game so well from the original SCI version. I await the voice pak and Royal Quest later in year. Understanding from Kings Quest 1 VGA remake that nothing but the best comes from Tierra Entertainment that I am sure Royal Quest will be just as wonderful. Everything from the artwork, sound effects, music, manual, overall presentation was of such stunning quality, as can only be expected from such dedicated and wonderful developers.
GREAT GAME SO FAR!!!!
GREAT JOB! i am so much more inspired to use AGS to make my own game .. fully with rich graphics et al! one thing i noticed.. NICE sound effect for when graham eats the mushroom and shrinks now lets jst hope both Sierra AND Nintendo dont sue you heh.. just kidding.. Im sure Sierra will be flattered.. I would love it if you could post any responses you get from any origional Sierra agi/sci game dev employees too. Well.. probably in about half a year I'll have a demo of my game up and I will let you guys check it out. Very professionally done by the way! great artists!
Wow! I tried out this game, and it's well worth the 20MB download! I had no idea a fanmade game could be so good. Its wonderful and brings back the old adventure game feeling. I think I might even like it more than the old games! Who would have known fans can make a professional quailty game. Two thumbs up!
I downloaded the game and i must say it's really cool. Im giving it a 10 out of 10, also a lot of hand claps and whistles. Will you please try to make KQ 2 3 4.i'd also quickly like to congratulate you guys on actually giving this whole thing a go. i have been a sierra fan since i could use a computer and this is amazing. you've actually inspired me to take a serious look at learning how to program and have a go at creating a vga release of quest for glory 2...my all time favourite game.
Dear Tierra,
Hey I'm sorry this is my first e-mail to you all in awhile, I was a beta tester for King's Quest VGA, but I never even got to play it because my terrible old computer died on me, but I just wanted you to know I just got a refugee computer from a friend, it actually is pretty nice, and I got cable modem today, and I said to myself "Hey, maybe now I can play KQVGA!!!" So I went to the download place, downloaded the "Newest Version" And Lo and Behold, the best day of my life has come to pass!!! I am so so impressed with you're work, I mean, I thought no one really liked the old King's Quests as much as me, and I long dreamed of a "Remake" that was as nice as the Quest for Glory 1 remake, but I have to say what you have done has blown my mind!!!! I cannot put into words how much fun it is!!! Anyways, I just wanted to say, GOOD JOB, and I am now going back to try and beat it!!! Thanks for making my dream come true!!! And sorry for sounding like a goober.
This was all done by fans of the game and it has a free (and ethical) download of their game. It's done in 256 colors and works with Win 95/98/ME. Downloading it shows our support for the adventure genre and it's a beautiful game! They will be adding sound soon. Take a look. I think you'll like it and it should bring back some memories of when you first started adventure gaming.
I downloaded the game this morning and started playing. It's great. But I keep dying. It sure looks like an original Kings quest game.
I think it's been beautifully re-colored.
I think Sierra should hire them to remake all their old games for new Windows computers.
I played it and liked it maybe even more than the first 2.
Congratulations on a great site and really exciting projects!
Congratulations on a remarkable adaptation of a long lost game. Brilliant!
I must say I was impressed, it was a very good remake.
I must say, I'm quite impressed with the quality of it.
I think KQ1 VGA remake is actually better than most sierra ones... I really can't stress enough how great it is.
