| KQ2VGA TESTIMONIALS |
"The idea of remaking these classic games is one of the best since the actual development." - Timothy Johnson
Reno Masterson, Cleveland, Ohio
King's Quest 2 VGA+ is the best thing since the best thing since sliced bread. And that, I think, is like, third best. Ah, why not. Best thing since sliced bread. Actually, I think we could live without sliced bread. KQ2VGA+ is the best thing ever. Plain and simple.
Ken Battou
I have to say that I haven't enjoyed adventure gaming like this in a very very long time. If Tierra had existed during the heyday of the adventure gaming era, Sierra would have something to worry about. This is (along with the music + voice pack) one of the best downloads of my life and upon starting the game couldn't stop until I finished it (which took me roughly 9 hours of continuous play)! A job superbly, wonderfully, outstandingly well done Tierra! There are more glorious words of praises I would like to bestow upon them which they most definitely deserve but I'll keep this short. Anyone doubting as to whether to download this? DON'T. Believe me, it is most definitely worth the time and the game worth the experience.
Brian Nagy
You guys kick SERIOUS ass.
Carlton Hayle, Nashville, TN
I really enjoyed KQ2VGA. The color & graphics are great, the music & voice pack was supurb. I don't like the new games that other companies make. They try to make the characters look real to life, and take out all the color. If you want a really great adventure, don't hesitate to download this game & other Tierra games. These guys are top of the line gamers as far as I'm
concerned.
It broke my heart when I heard Ken & Roberta Williams had sold Sierra. I started with Sierra's King's Quest 1 & I was HOOKED, I bought just about all their games. Sierra was the only name I looked for when buying. You guys have made my days with KQ1VGA, KQ2VGA, and I am looking forward to QFG. By the way I'm 58 years old so please speed up the great games you are making before I get too old to play them.
Velislav Ivanov, Sofia, Bulgaria
King's Quest II VGA is a game at the level of KQVI, if not higher. Wonderfully enhanced plot, stunning graphics, wonderful music and speech, awesome atmosphere - I really feel wordless to describe this amazing game, which revives many, many good memories.
M. I. Orikasa, Alaska
When I find my local games store to be chock-full of nothing but FPS and sports games, I go Internet hopping... and one of those ventures led me here to Tierra. Admittedly, I have never played the original KQII (the NES version of KQV being
my initial exposure to the series before I happened upon the remakes), but for the most part the remake hits all the high notes. Your work is a compliment on the AGS engine and adventure gaming in general; keep up the good work! Point-and-click adventures will never die, as long as those who believe can still create...
John (AKA Rezin), Oxford, PA
I think that this is one of the greatest things you could do thanx for helping me play my childhood games.
Luke Jensen, Texas, USA
I'll always remember the feeling of having a swarm of butterflies in my stomach when I loaded a new King's Quest game for the first time. Until I was selected as a tester for KQ2VGA, I hadn't experienced that rush of excitement for eight long years.
KQ2VGA captures the elusive magic that is a King's Quest game almost perfectly. With few exceptions, it lives up to the standards of the Sierra we all miss so dearly, and in some cases even surpasses them by leaps and bounds.
Incredible. That's all I can say.
Philip, Florida
I love the way how everything is - the music, background, voices, etc. I enjoy even more of adventure games. So many praises to say, yet couldn't put them all down. Love the work TIERRA!
Khaveen, Moscow, Russia, Earth, Solar System, etc.
When I was five (it was 1995) my mother brought me the King's Quest collection. I didn't knew much English then, that's why I thought, for example, that King's Quest I AGI and King's Quest I SCI had different plots and characters. We had a darned IBM 086 computer and such games as King's Quest V didn't work on it. So I could play only KQ 1 - 4 on it. Among these my favourite game was King's Quest II, though I played without knowledge of what did happen in the game. And now I have downloaded King's Quest II+ VGA. Guys, I'm really LOVE this game even more than I loved KQ2 AGI!
P.S. Now my favourite Sierra game is QfG II. I can't wait for the remake!
P.P.S. Keep up the good work, AGDs!
Tom, Phoenix, AZ
I have to say this brings back so many good memories I don't know where to begin... Thank you for bringing back something alive I thought was long dead.
Brian, Cleveland
I am only 23 years old but I started to play and love role playing games like Kings Quest, Quest for Glory, Conquest of the longbow, and Police Quest a long time ago to name a few. I thought I was alone in the circle of people I knew who could understand and Apprieciate These type of games untill I met a man named Bob who was a native of Austrailia for 27 years. Though we were on oppisite sides of the globe he was the only other who also loved role playing games. We would reminise about these games and think of how we missed them. Unfortuntaly we could not go to a store and buy it in this day and age. Well I just found Tierra Entertainment and was completly shocked that there were OTHERS. Not just any others oh no these were skilled computer designing ninjas. They schooled it! All of it! The new releases of the classic games are the freshest Ideas I have heard in a long time. Well mad props to the Tierra Ninjas for these games and keep em commin baby.
Anonymous, Spain
I played my first KQ when i was 15-16. Fifteen years later i can't find better game than KQ II Romancing the stones. I have no words to describe it, but one: MAGIC :-) Enjoy it, it worths... A child's dream. KQ I is also very very good.
Stargazer, Norway
The King Quest remakes of Tierra is, in my view, quite probably the best thing to come around in the adventure game-genre since "The Longest Journey" was released several years ago.
The new music is fabulous, the voice acting is top-notch, and the game itself so beautifully crafted that it's nearly a crime not to be impressed! Keep up the great work, Tierra, your dedication and talent to revive these classics are an inspiration and an excellent example for the whole gaming and programming world to follow!
Guybrush Threepwood, Monkey Island
Just 7 words: Keep bringing adventures games back to life!
Nick Chan, Malaysia
I know the KQ2VGA screenshots on the Tierra site won't do any justice to the actual game itself but then again, I just can't help myself salivating all over my keyboard. Can't wait to download it and bring back those nostalgic times when Sierra adventure games simply rule the planet. Kudos to Tierra for a job well done. Hopefully the rest of the other ".. Quest" series or perhaps those
LucasArts classics will enjoy a remake from you talented people =)
Joseph D. Collins, Buckeye, Arizona, USA
Wow... Just... wow...
After playing this game in its entirety, I could have SWORN, SEVERAL times throughout playing this game, that I was playing something Sierra On-Line PERSONALLY made. Tierra Entertainment has taken the small, rather story-lacking King's Quest II, and turned it into a game that absolutely DESERVES to be placed in the Hall of Fame of classic gaming... This is the single-best game revival I have ever played in my life, and that's no lie. King's Quest I VGA was alright, as was Space Quest I VGA (the original Sierra On-Line versions, I mean). The Ur-Quan Masters, a 3D0-to-PC conversion of the classic PC game, "Star Control II: The Ur-Quan Masters" is QUITE sensational, despite the fact it's nowhere near done yet... But THIS? Vocals! Music! VGA-styled
graphics! This... Is the sort of thing classic gamers like myself DREAM about... hope for... PRAY for, some of us... This game is unbelievable... Not to repeat myself, but this game completely RETELLS the original EGA version by Sierra On-Line, but far, FAR better than even Sierra THEMSELVES could do, in my opinion...
Please, PLEASE keep up this quality of work with anything else you may do in the future. And THANK YOU... for reigniting my passion with King Graham and the land of Daventry. I've SERIOUSLY got to get my hands on my copy of King's Quest V and play through THAT again. As well as my old copy of King's Quest II, now that I think about it.
Dark Knight, Yugoslavia
This is awesome, finaly I see pixels before my eyes again, and great story, and music, and everything feels like I'm in the 90's again with my 486 PC. Thank god that you haven't tried to take the game to higher resolution like 800x600 or 1024x768. I hope one day all of them companies around the world will understand that 3D graphichs for the adventure games is no that good as it seems, 2D games should start releasing again, with handdrawn background, great music etc.
Harald, Netherlands
I totally agree with the majority of the comments. It's fabulous. This proves that there IS a market for those kind of games, although some other big company bosses deny it.
I hope someone (with good money) wakes up and invests in companies like this one so people can enjoy the entertainment those kind of games still haven't lost. I really think people do want to pay 30 dollars for a game like that, even if they can download this now for free.
I grew up with those games like Susanne (South Africa) and I think this is one of the best things that happened to me during my childhood. I am really looking forward to another remake!!!
Spikey, Netherlands
The effort made developing this game by you all is unbelievable, and for me and many people with me it's like a dream came true. It's so good to see KQ2 with a storyline AND in VGA!
LittlePsycho, South Africa
Coming from a country which has almost no intrest whatsoever in adventure games, I can Honestly say that this game is by far better than most the BIG companies games today, it's really is better than Monkey Island 3 & 4 and almost Full Throttle (sorry), except with Graphics (personally though, I like it), but who really cares about graphics when you can at least see what's going on, else why do you play Adventure games?
If this game was Released in 1995 (talking about KQ2+) or sooner Tierra would have been Extremely rich. Sued, but rich.
Also the voice acting is superb, and the new story and puzzles are alot better. Music was also masterfully done and very high quality.
Great game and can't wait for the next.
Rolix, Johnstown, PA
I must say, I cannot agree that this genra is dying out. These are some of the best games that ever existed. You guys are not stealing, but reviving the games that brought us so much fun. Awesome work, I can't wait for QFG 2.
Timothy Johnson
At this moment I am downloading the remake of the classic King's Quest 1. I would like to say that I look forward to playing the new version. As a child, the first games I remember playing were the King's Quest series. I actually had to teach myself to type so I could play the games. Especially in King's Quest 2 where you had to stab the vampire with the wooden stake. I've been able to type ever since. The idea of remaking these classic games is one of the best since the actual development.
Kevin Carloni
I just finished King's Quest 2: Romancing the Stones---WOW. That was a tremendous success in recreating the old Sierra classic. The storyline is so deep and the characters are so well developed, especially Valanice, Hagatha, Cauldar and even the little klepto-dwarf! Graphics... beautiful. Music... perfect. Overall I'd rate this game right up there with all Sierra's greats like KQ 5, 6 and 7. Fantastic job... it was so much fun to play, and the challenge did not suffer at the expense of the graphics or plot. I hope you'll do KQ3 and 4!!!
Diego J. Souza, Brazil
Who would have thought that one of the best adventure games ever made was going to cost you... nothing? Nada? Zip? If you have not downloaded KQ2VGA yet, do not wait any longer. With an engaging enhanced plot that captures the gamer's attention from start to finish, KQ2VGA is, without a doubt, an engrossing gaming experience that is destined to become a classic. I can honestly say that KQ2VGA became my favorite game in the King's Quest saga (and also became one of my favorite games EVER). Kudos to you Tierra... and kudos again! Bravo!! Congratulations!!! Meus Parabéns!!!!
Mr. Pizza, Italy
You have made a fantastic, superb, excellent, insuperable, supercalifragilistichespiralidoso work! Please don't stop your talent!
Bryce Covert, USA
I remember the day KQ2VGA came out. I had already known for months that the game was finished, and was in beta testing. It was just a matter of getting it uploaded to a few servers. It was 11:00 at night. And they said that they had it ready for us, they just needed time to upload. I remember shaking. I had to sleep, because I had to go to school in the morning. So I woke up at 4:00 in the morning. Shaking. This was one of the most exciting things that had happened in a long time.
I hadn't experienced this same feeling until the day the voice pack came out.
Relight, Canada
I just can't believe how good the story is, how it all makes such perfect sense, everything is tied together (but not meaninglessly) and it's so perfectly "King's Quest." The same goes for the art and the music. Everything has 200% quality.
Zephryn, Singapore
I really don't know what to say, except that since I discovered Tierra and downloaded all your games, I've been absolutely GLUED to my computer. And it's not for work, mind you. KQ2VGA is absolutely AMAZING. I love everything about it! I love the graphics, animation, the way you guys expanded on the original plot and character development, and the way you integrated the logical puzzle-solving and overall plot together, with everything else. It just blew my mind away! And the best part? The way you enable me to relive the magic of King's Quest all over again! With the style of wholesome, traditional, good adventure gaming. The way it should be. I can't do enough to express my thanks to the whole team for making this such a wonderful experience. KUDOS TO THE ENTIRE TEAM AND MANY THANKS AND WELL WISHES! I, and many others, look forward with bated-breath to your next creation!
Fribbi the Entertainer, Reykjavik, Iceland
Tierra are with no doubt the 100% greatest Sierra fan game makers in the world. It was they who let us beleave that old classic Sierra games still lives with us as a part in our live in our future and they will live too in our heart and inside our brain. Without Tierra Entertainment, all of Sierra games fans would never have the same happy smile like you have probably now.
The Rosk, Lagos, Nigeria
KQ2VGA is da bomb.
Angelus3K, UK
KQ2VGA is fantastic!! They simply dont make adventure games like these any more!! .....WAIT!! THEY DO!!! Well done Tierra KQ2VGA is a great acomplishment bettered only by the voice pack that was released for it a while after. I simply CANNOT wait for KQ3VGA!! (Please remake it!!)
KQ1VGA, KQ2VGA and QFG2VGA and the name Tierra will certainly go down in history as a stunning thankyou to Sierra for making the games in the first place.
Thankyou
Snake, Netherlands
Oh my god... it's as if the Mistress herself, Roberta Williams, did this... excellent storyline, brilliant new characters, puzzles etc. If it weren't for the Tierra logo at the start, you'd think Sierra did all this!
Jeff Patterson, Atlanta (Georgia), US
Holy ferkin' christ. You guys are amazing. You did the best job I've EVER seen on these games. This is the way I've always imagined it, longed for it... you hit JUST the right adventure game era with your stuff. Past the text-based, but before the over-graphicalized and single-cursor mouse based ones. You use the KQ5 type interface, IMHO, the best one done. And the graphics, unlike the cinematic, cartoonish, (brain-rot IMHO) graphics they have now, are JUST right. You guys, got the baby bear porridge. JUST RIGHT. Not like watching a movie so the brain switches off, and not like arcade-style games like tetris that forces total engagement.
Just right. PERFECT. BEAUTIFUL!
I would pay good money for this! Very good money!
You hit the nail on the head!
You deserve a medal for these games!
Keep it up!
ˇViva Tierra!
The Avatar, Daventry
Tired of buying games and bringing them home only to find they suck, or that they're full of bugs?? King's Quest II VGA is FREE! Play it all the way to the end, enjoy hour upon fun-filled hour of original gameplay, and then smile, knowing that Tierra isn't finished yet. What's that? It was even better than the last one you say? Now's the time to get excited, because the next remake will be 10 times better than this one!
Nodnarb the Great (Brandon Hullum), Everywhere and Nowhere
Your story and its heightened characters bring the original's ideas beyond their original boundries. A totally new game by itself. It's like playing a new King's Quest game at some points. The tests and every choice involved is superb. The new 3D opening will make those who have played the original cry with joy and happiness. It is truly a game to play for you will laugh, cry, and be entertained.
Broomie, United Kingdom
Adventure games have just got better! King's Quest II+ VGA is a must download. The background scenes are perfect, they are beautiful. The music is brilliant, it is just great! The plot enhancement is so improved. KQ2VGA IS A MUST! DOWNLOAD IT NOW!!!
Christopher, Germany
Absolutely great work! I love it. I had great fun. Thanks a lot.
Jennie Ainsley, WA, USA
WOW! Those three little letters pretty much sum it all up! WOW! You took a game that I used to play when I was braindead and looking for mindless entertainment (because you didn't really have to think to play KQII) to something that I downloaded in the morning and could not pull myself away from until I had beat it! WOW! The graphics are amazingly beautiful, the music is absolutely GORGEOUS (I WANT the soundtrack! So eerie, so breathtaking, so whimsical), the humor is the same sarcastic wit that made the originals so fun, and the plotline is now so amazingly expanded - the characters have been given life and a world to dwell in. Bravo on a job WELL done! I will be eagerly following your future projects! Keep up the INCREDIBLE work!
Anonymous, Holland
i played all the sierra games that exist my first sierra game was kings quest 2 romancing the throne en i have waited for the remake for years and i am the people of tierra gratefull for the hard working on the game.
Chuckles, Canada
I think this is fabulous! Have wanted to play these old games again but because of the technology with new computers and software it has been impossible up to now. Thank you so much for taking the time and the trouble to do this for true adventure gamers. Hope there will be many more in the future.
Ekku, Turku, Finland
I have always been a fan of classic Sierra adventure games. Your remakes of the both first KQs are excellent, and I hope to see more of their kind in the future. One might say that you are making a huge contribution to the younger generations of adventurers by bringing some of the finest games in history back to life. Keep up the good work!
Mike, Abbotsford, BC
Keep up the good work!! I'm very amazed at the hard work and effort that went in to these great classic games and I can say this not, one bit of it is a waste! It is by far the best work I've seen in an adventure game :)
Aaron Sahar
My favorite game-genre is Adventure! And mostly King's Quest!!! I just so pleased to play these games again with more color music and speech!!! It's amazing! You're doing an amazing job. Keep on doing that - I'm sure a lot of people enjoy reliving adventuring. Thank you again.
David Spracklen, Portland
I'm very pleased to see the games that were so popular when I was a kid, coming back in such a dramatic way. Over the years, developers have focused more and more on the latest graphics and less on storyline (with noteable exceptions). Thanks for creating a great remake. It would be awesome to see the entire series of King's Quest, Police Quest, Space Quest, Willy Beamish, the Lucas Arts games like Maniac Mansion, Indiana Jones, etc. Or perhaps the Zork games. There are so many that could be revisited. Thanks again.
Judy, Florida
I absolutely loved the remakes of King's Quest I and II VGA. I especially loved all of the enhancements in II. When oh when will III, IV, V & VI be coming out - I can't wait. You've enlivened some of the most fun games on the planet.
Brachium, BC, Canada
A most masterful performance all around. Everything from the voice acting to the beautiful artwork to the new twists in the plot absolutely render me speechless. Bravo, and keep up the good work!
Anonymous, Hawaii
This was a great remake of the original, which I remember playing on my old 8088 Tandy computer. The graphics were very impressively redone and the story deepened and flushed. I finished this remake and it felt more fulfilling than when I finished the original. Kudos to the Anonymous Ones for awesome graphics and sound and to Tierra for an excellent (re)production!
Susanne, South Africa
I love you guys! Although adventure games seem to experience a bit of a revival at the moment, it's always a struggle to find something worth playing. And having grown up with Sierra adventure games, all of them hold a very special place in my heart. I thought your KQ1 remake was fabulous, but KQ2VGA was stunning - Sierra couldn't have done it better in their time (and I mean that as a compliment). Can't wait for your take on Quest for Glory, especially if you keep improving at this rate. Any chance of re-doing the parser Larry games? Again, thanks so much!
