| QFG2VGA FAQ |
I can't download / install / play the game!
That's because it hasn't been released yet!
When will the Quest For Glory II VGA remake be released?
Right now, we're not exactly sure when we will release QFG2VGA. It is currently slated for a 2007 release. You can read about QFG2VGA's development in our frequently updated Designer Journals.
What clothes will the Hero wear?
It seems that most fans prefer the original Arabian style clothing of the EGA QFG2 sprite. Therefore, the QFG2VGA hero will closely resemble the original Hero but will be updated into VGA graphics.
Will the game be QFG2, just with better graphics?
We plan on keeping the game faithful to the original (no plot changes), but will enhance it with some small, additional features. We are thinking of including the Saurus Repair Shop and the Mage's Maze game. Dialogue pictures will be included in this game, along with a new Point & Click interface, improved digital music, some new easter eggs, etc.
What kind of interface will be used in this game?
The game will make use of point and click icons for the walk, look, hand (interact/picking up items), and other special actions and spells... for communication with other characters, we're going with small dialog pictures (QFG3 style) and dialog trees (QFG4 style) for communication.
How will the battle system be changed in QFG2VGA?
Combat will resemble the EGA version of QFG2, but all similarities stop there. The revamped combat system is one of the most impressive aspects about the remake with many enhancments, new moves, new features and clever AI.
Will there be stats like in the original QFG games?
Yes, stats will be included, and will run in the same fashion as they do in the rest of the QFG series.
Will you guys include the impossible-to-navigate alleys?
The alley layout may be totally different and easier to navigate.
How will you implement the alleyways?
The alley screens will resemble their EGA counterparts, but will not scroll. More details will be put into different areas to make them more unique-looking.
Will there be an import/export option in the remake?
Yes, this is now a certain feature. QFG2VGA will feature both importing and exporting options, which will allow you to import a character from QFG1 and save your hero at the end of the game for use in QFG3.
Will you include voice acting like in the King's Quest II VGA remake?
No. There is much more communication taking place in QFG2VGA, and we feel that this game's characters would be difficult to do justice to in the voice talent department.
Will you include the 'controversial' X-ray glasses easter egg?
Of course! It wouldn't be QFG2 without it.
Will you have a day and night fading cycle?
Yes, we will be implementing a day to night fading cycle that looks similar to the day/night fading seen in QFG3 and QFG4.
Will QFG2VGA contain the bug where you can repeatedly sell the Dervish beard at the Magic shop?
Yes! Wait a minute... no.
Why are you making Quest for Glory 2 first? Why don't you start with remaking Quest for Glory 1?
Quest for Glory 1 was already remade by Sierra in 1992. We only remake older AGI or SCI Sierra games. There wouldn't be much point in re-remaking a game that is already VGA with a point and click interface.
Will you completely remove the dead-ends from QFG2VGA like you did for the KQ2VGA remake?
Most of the dead ends in QFG2 have to do with the player prematurely dropping an item that is later needed to advance the plot. We could disable the dropping all important items in the game... but truthfully, some of the best easter eggs, one-liners, and death messages are accessed this way; so we've decided to keep the dropping of said items in place, so that all of the original deaths and jokes would remain intact. QFG2 is a game where common sense prevails and you can only really get 'stuck' if you do something that is very clearly hinted against.
Can I help your team remake this game?
We're always looking for artists, but now that the majority of in-game artwork has been completed, there is not much left to do. Still, if you'd like to apply, you may.
Hurry up! You're taking too long. I want to play now!
A good game takes time to create. A stable game takes even longer. If quality is forsaken at the expense of a shorter production time, then the product would very likely contain huge game-halting bugs and would be unplayable for the overwhelming majority of people. QFG2VGA will be released only when it is stable enough to be released.
Can you tell me where to find the original version of QFG2? I'd love to play the original before I try the remake. It's out of circulation and my friend said I can find it on the net.
Certainly! Point your browser at www.eBay.com where you can find great deals on many vintage PC games - sometimes still in their original boxes and shrinkwrap!
