Re: Hints as to where to find stone?

Go to any desert screen and keep going north until you reach a distinctive place.

From that point forward, you're on your own!

Re: Spell Book Design

The decision to keep the actual steps intact (instead of the instant completion method that was used in the IA game) was there from the beginning, since we felt that the stress of having to work carefully, yet quickly (a reason why the timer keeps ticking when the inventory window is open) while Ma...

Re: Mage's Initiation: Reign of the Elements

Magic User's my favorite QfG class, and this looks like a great idea! A hard idea to do well, given how tough good magic puzzles are to write. But I'm looking forward to it with my fingers crossed.

Spell Book Design

I'm thinking about how spellcasting was done in this remake, and it occurs to me that, of all the ways I've seen magic handled in a game, this is one of the best. The original game had a very clear philosophy of how the player's magic ought to work - each spell is demanding, picky, and ultimately re...

Re: A brief account of KQ3 Redux' history

I'm amazed at the level of restraint and care it must have taken to keep this under wraps. The current tendency is to raise expectations with hype, then let people down in the end. AGDI has shown it can manage two approaches: * Produce a lot of hype, then produce an amazing result. (QfG2) * Produce ...

Re: You have chosen....*spoilers*

Actually, Erpy's right. The fact that I'm willing to argue this does indicate, possibly, that my priorities are out of order - but not in the way that the puzzle suggested. I've been trolled! I've been intensely and deeply trolled by a death message! I'm not sure if that was the intent, but it seems...

Re: You have chosen....*spoilers*

I'd propose we actually do this. I actually asked a (small) number of people this question once I saw the decision post in here, three of whom I KNOW aren't used to Sierra games. Great idea! Even if this doesn't tells what the right answer is, it does tell us what the common answers are. Here is ho...

Re: Remake Comparisons

The joke of a prince with a distinctive birthmark on one buttock is from the movie The Court Jester , which the people at Sierra seem to have been huge fans of. It pops up a lot in the Quest for Glory games; the "flagon with a dragon" bit in QfG1 is also from The Court Jester. I think that...

Re: You have chosen....*spoilers*

I don't think that there are any wrong answer either. We, people, are also called individuals because each of us are unique. But there are also some who thinks the same. For those who think the test are straigtforward then good for you guys. And for those who thinks differently, let's just say each...

Re: You have chosen....*spoilers*

You guys should have thrown pizza in as a choice. That's all that puzzle needed. A good pizza.
Blackthorne wins.

The puzzle should be "choose the one that is most valuable: knowledge, clothing, shelter, wealth, pizza."

And anybody who does not pick pizza dies. Because it's PIZZA.

Re: Gate Puzzle

I thought it was easy if you've played adventure games - I got it on the first shot - but hard if you aren't aware of this kind of acrostic-name thinking. Especially since the names of the animals are only written on tooltips that Alex can't really see. Did the builders of the ruins expect the solve...

Re: EAGLE!

The eagle was pretty recognizable as an eagle, I thought - it had the right head-shape and beak. And I'm from the US, so... I suppose the easiest thing would be to add an EYE message or something that tells the player it's an eagle? I dunno, it seemed obvious if only by process of elimination. Where...

Re: You have chosen....*spoilers*

The puzzle doesn't ask "which is key to survival" or "which is monetarily worth more." It asks about value. If you ask about value, you will always get different answers. Even worse, the people who post on this board are a group biased TOWARDS thinking like an old-school Sierra g...

Re: Help with getting glass flask

The glass flask you need for spellcasting is not the bottle in the hole.

It's actually in exactly the place you'd expect a glass flask used for spellcrafting to be. Look more closely and click the HAND icon on more places in the most likely location.

Re: KQ3 Redux Release Date announced

Just finished playing, and I have to say that this was a wonderful remake. The graphics have that King's Quest feel, and the music sometimes had me fooled into thinking it was a Brayman production! I'm not sure about some of the added material, but I'd rather see an overambitioua remake than a dull ...

Re: You have chosen....*spoilers*

There's a more basic problem here, and it drove me nuts. I really did get immensely frustrated on this one, because, while I guessed that the jewels were last, EVERY OTHER POSSIBILITY was logical. Survival argument: In a survival situation, the first thing you usually need is shelter. You can live w...

The Saurus Repair Shop is, if I recall correctly, somewhere with a dead-end on the map somewhere on the west side of town, using the original alley layout.

No. In theory, if you've stolen something from that guard's home and you show it to him, he catches you. In practice, this happens with every item, I think. This has been reported.
