Re: Prepare...

Heroine's Quest is still far away from completion, since teaming up with Radiant and Crystal Shard however, it's coming a lot faster! http://crystalshard.net/hq.htm

On this topic, I can't wait for this mystery game to be released!

Re: I have made some background

I really like the good job you did with the grass. Nice texture on the rock too.

Also, the lens flare is pretty snazzy! :)

Re: Some new screenies from Heroine's Quest

More like the secret thief sign for that particular guild, I'd say.

Some new screenies from Heroine's Quest

Hey, been awhile, so thought I'd post a few screenshots. If anyone is wondering on the progress, the art for the town is done, as well as the forest screens... i think. Everything else is coming along nicely too. Heroine sprite is evolving away from the Zanthia look I hope. Also switched over to 320...

Re: Background Art Tips?

I have a couple, though I should really do some new ones. Looking back, I think some of my methods are strange compared to the way I do it now. I would really suggest starting a canvas at 320 x 240 (or 200). I have no idea why I used to start with 640x480.... Need any tips, just ask! http://www.corb...

Re: Heroine's Quest is back

I guess I'll put up the forum link soon. I have some cleaning up to do in there. The forums are still there, just no link.
Saving character at the end, for sure! Speech pack? That'd be great too, I just don't know for sure at this point.

Re: Heroine's Quest is back

Thanks! Good to be back! I've always favored kyrandia style art, more crisp and clear. I think I'm better doing art this way as opposed to the slightly more blurry Sierra style. Heroine sprite is still based on Zanthia. Willing to change that if I were to get a sprite artist. I just don't have the s...

Heroine's Quest is back

Hi there, don't mean to step on any forum rules, but just a little announcement that Heroine's Quest is not dead. Well it did die... but now it's back! I've been bringing it back behind the scenes, so really it's just me drawing backgrounds for the moment. Anyhow, the screenshots: http://www.corbyla...

Very nice work! :)
My background I used for the tutorial had perspective issues, so it's not your fault.

Cool! I've been waiting months for this to be released. You've just prevented me from getting anything done tomorrow! I'll download while I sleep! :)
Edit: Looks like it will take 11 minutes to download! :)

Looks pretty sweet! Glad you enjoyed the tutorial. Maybe I'll make a quick cave drawing tutorial tomorrow night. Add some rocks, some more details to your tree, set it at 256 colors, and reduce down to 320x240 and you got a very sierra looking background. :) http://www.corbydesigns.com/screens/darkp...

Looks very nice! Some rocks could spice things up a bit though. Here's a neat trick: In photoshop, go to: Image - Mode - Indexed Color, then set the number of colors to 256. This is if anyone wanted to use the same palatte that sierra used. I just started doing this, and I think it really adds to th...

I suggest combining photoshop and image ready to animate/edit your sprites. If you use image ready to set up the animations, you can jump back and forth from photoshop and make any minor changes with ease.

Thanks Rog, and Blackthorne is right. I've found that sprites like that take about 3x longer to make than background pics. It took me 3 days of work to complete it, and I never want to make one again! The heroine is a modified Zanthia, but I felt I modified her enough to make it somewhat original. A...

EGA for sure. The game took maybe 4 months of work (I worked on it off and on during a span of 2 years) VGA just takes so much longer. Those EGA pics take maybe 1.5 hrs to make, while VGA pics can take up to 5-6 hours just for one. This game only took me two weeks to make: GAME Warning: The above ga...

I promise I'll make the sequal one day. Thanks for the testing everyone, especially JLM5. I'll toss in some "special thanks to:" in the credits, once I make the final version. :) Did you want me to do MIDI audio or something like what I'm doing for HQ.  I would agree to start making music ...

Haha, it is. I've never seen the movie, but used this tree as a reference after finding it on the net under "scary tree". Guess you could consider this an easter egg?

This should do it. I'll be sure to expand the parser for this event in the final version.
