I've never noticed any Christian themes in LOTR.  I've read the series twice and seen the first two movies as well.  Unless you're referring to elements universal to both religion and fiction, like courage and loyalty and so on. I'm aware that Tolkein himself was Catholic, but ignoring that what Chr...

Well, now I've seen it, and my fears were unfounded.  The movie was quite good.  On the same level as the Harry Potter films, although I've not read those books.  It wasn't as "epic" or "definitive" as the Lord of the Rings movies, but it was charming and perfect in it's own way....

That really is wonderful news.  I thought it was a lost cause.  I wonder if VU planned this all along . . .  Maybe they wanted to delay the release to coincide with their own rereleases in order to drum up sales.  Or perhaps they just didn't want the game to be released until they had some formalize...

"The Magician's Nephew" was a prequel - the events took place before any of the other books, but it was actually the sixth book written in the series. Apparently, it's still the sixth book in the series everywhere except for the U.S. (and Canada I suppose), where the publishers made the de...

Will anyone be seeing "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe" tonight?  I got a pair of free tickets, so the wife and I will be going after work.  I loved the books as a child, and have read them again as an adult. I'm skeptical that the movie is going to be too action-oriented like "...

I had an interview today also.  A software support job for a publisher of test material.  I almost had the job, until she told me that I would be required to work evenings, which would conflict with my school schedule.  I was really upset too, because earlier they told me the hours were 7:00am - 3:3...

That's a good point, Navy.  The more copies the sell, the more likely it will rekindle corporate interest in the genre.  On the other hand, I'm dirt poor right now, and I have to save my pennies for Al Emmo when it comes out.  I suppose I'll make my decision once I see what, if any, improvements are...

I'm not going to consider getting them until the KQ9 issue is resolved, one way or another.

edit: And what's with forgetting the QFG series?

The most depressing part of this is that Erpy felt he had to say that AGDI didn't rat anyone out.  Have things gotten that bad in the community where that kind of thing is necessary?  Come on, Erpy, do you really think we'd suspect YOU of sabotage?  That's ridiculous.

This may be a dumb suggestion, but . . .

Perhaps some of the sprites can be retrieved from the Black Sky demo?  I wouldn't know how to go about doing that, but if it were possible, someone either here or at the AGS forum might be able to help.

Well that doesn't sound like an insurmountable problem.

Have you actually run ScummVM on a PSP, Angelus?  I'm curious if the games translate well to the small screen.

From what I've read, it seems ScummVM might only ever be playable on an imported or a modified PSP, unfortunately.

It might make a better marketing tactic for Froot Loops.

"The official cereal of democracy!" or "The cereal Saddam hates, made with 100% real froot."

Occasionally, but going back as far as I can remember, I've had a nightmare that either I or one of my close relatives have died.  The dream usually includes attending the funeral, and thinking about how life won't be the same without that person, usually my mother or father or, lately, one my grand...

I'm pretty sure you're right about all P4's having a built in temp diode. All of the temp sensor programs I've used are specific to a motherboard, but in your BIOS, there should be a screen that tells you the temps.  If they ARE high, then you are on the right track.  If the temperatures are low, ho...

I've used the Jet fan, and it works as well as anything else.  Actually, I can't imagine that temperatures are really the problem if you've installed that.  I have had an Asus P4 motherboard where the heat sensor broke, and kept resetting.  Then when it would come back on, it would say something abo...

Erpy, you really should be a politician.  I for one would vote for you.  In fact, from now on whenever I'm in a situation that requires some tact, I'm going to visualize the cartoon Erpy face and ask myself "What would Erpy say in this situation?"

Considering IBM is developing the processors for all three new consoles and ATI / Nvidia are developing the graphics, I don't think Nintendo's smaller size company-wise necessarily translates to having a weaker system, but we'll see. I'm guessing that regardless of which system is more powerful, the...

I would guess that by the time most people have reached 30 years of age or so, pretty much everyone has experienced the destructive side of drinking and drugs.  I've seen friends and family ruin their lives.  I've watched a pregnant woman smoke crack cocaine, which is about as direct a way of ruinin...
