Erpy, you mentioned the Dervish close up talking sprites... does that mean that while you have the portrait of a character talking, you also have a talking animation for the sprite of the character itself?

Talk about something like Cowboy Bepop vs. Princess Mononoke... I actually much prefer having trained voice over actors than Hollywood stars. For one thing, with the star, it is hard not to picture their face when they are talking. Secondly, they do not quite know how to do voice over acting. So, th...

I'd love to see a voice pack... but then... I would with any game... lip sync or no. (Is Al Emmo the only AGS game to actually utilize full lip sync?) Nevertheless, I guarantee that this game does not need a voice pack. Even without a voice pack... it will be the best free downloaded game of all tim...

KQ4 was filled with more dead ends than any other Sierra game I can recall... and some really bad ones too. I think the shovel only had the exact number of digs in it that you needed to uncover the items you needed. I don't remember what that number is, but it was something like four to six. So, if ...

Oh man, that really sucks. It was in fact finding the SQ7 project back in 2001 that led me to ADGI (then Tierra) in the first place.

I hope some sort of resolution can come from this as I've really been looking forward to SQ7.

Good to know, Erpy. I always do my damnest to never include anything in repeatedly_execute if I can help it. Sometimes, you have to though. But, knowing you have hundreds of lines of code in there without slow down makes me feel much better.

Yeah, missing an episode of Lost would be like going to the movies and getting up and leaving for 20 minutes. You'll likely have no idea what's happening when you come back.

As an avid follower of the show, let me just tell you that it's f*ckin' awesome!

I want to bash my head into the wall because I have to wait 9 months to see how this continues. I actually had a hunch about the twist ending a third of the way through, but I said to myself... "nah!", so, man, I was still shocked when I was right. What a creepy ending. It really makes you...

Actually, I think that the step above SVGA actually is XGA.

What never existed though was 16-bit color with 320x200 graphics, which is exactly what most people around here use.

As a side note, I started making my game in actual VGA 256 color mode. Dealing with the palette was huge pain in the ass. It got to the point I couldn't handle it anymore. I couldn't figure out how AGDI did... then, I realized that they didn't do it. 16-Bit color they used. I had been confused since...

Re: Not exactly...

SQ2, 3 and 4 make up a trilogy of sorts. During that time, Roger never goes home. He never changes his clothes. He never gets a haircut or dyes his hair . I refer you to the shift from brunette to blond between 3 and 4. :D Dude, Brainiac. You're supposed to be on my side here! That change was a lim...

I need to reiterate I love BT. It's no wonder I work for him. One of the best chaps around. It wasn't my decision to use the SQ4, but it's the choice I would have made. I personally prefer the color scheme of the SQ4 Roger over the SQ1 Roger. I can't say much about the animations themselves, but, le...

Uh... I'm 30, and live in Northern California.

For me... the heyday of these games was between 1985 and 1990. I bought every single game sierra released during that time.

No, it's nothing new to have hundreds of people working on a film, especially when they built huge sets and had many extras and all kinds of crew. But, there was something special in the 70s and 80s when big blockbusters could get away with a very small crew. It was a sign of the independent films t...

BT, do you ever miss the days when the credits to a film were only like 20 or 30 people long? Look at the credits of "Clash of the Titans" for example. I think I sometimes do.

Not me. In fact, if Mr. Tilley could PROVE to me that he will finish this game, and he can't find anyone else to program that arcade sequence bit... I'll do it for him.

Of course, I'm skeptical these days... so the PROOF will have to be pretty impressive.

You guys are absolutely right... real writers are rare. And, I really meant to say that a lot of people "think" or "say" they are writers, and perhaps use the smokescreen of: "if I only had a team". I know how writing is because I've done it before. And, in many ways, f...

I can assure you that many members of AGDI and IA are friends, however, this does not mean they will or even should join forces. Ultimately, that would lead to less games being made. The idea here is, the more teams there are, the more games that would be made. As for the writer comment... it makes ...
