Re: QG4 Problem... and it's NOT the infamous Error 52

That sounds similar to a problem I've always had. I usually run it in DOSBox, but no matter what I do, the Adventurer's Guild door freezes up every time I go through it. The problem is usually solved incrementally by moving my mouse over the toolbar and then back into the game window. Doing this a h...

Hey now.  Leave the Mythbusters out of this.   :lol Speaking as a 22-year-old, I can say that the difference between old and new games is more than just the explosion factor.  There's a different type of enjoyment to be extracted from blowing stuff up than from figuring out a puzzle and taking part ...

Try http://dosbox.sourceforge.net

It emulates a DOS environment, like an old computer.

Probably with DOSBox.  Otherwise, they may not run very well (QG1EGA and QG2 might be fine, but the others, not so much).

I always assumed it was one of the pair of dragons that assaulted Spielburg so long ago.  As I recall, one of them was slain by Baron von Spielburg, and the other managed to escape.  It's possible that, as a result of Baba Yaga's curse and of its own desire for revenge, it came back for Elsa.

Possibly a corrupted installation?  Sometimes a hiccup during download can cause problems like that.  Try uninstalling it, clearing your browser's cache, and downloading it again.

AGC2, respectfully, those are mental and social problems (with the possible exception of uncontrolled shaking, which may just as well be a sign of anxiety).  The fact that this man retreats into the comfort zone afforded by the game is not necessarily indicative of addiction.  There is the possibili...

I wouldn't recommend Baldur's Gate. That was my brother's "gateway drug." He started with that, then he moved to Diablo, and now WoW. Before Baldur's Gate, he had only played QFG and KQ, and he had played those normally. However, with the start of Baldur's Gate, he played obsessively and ...

Not playing QFG5 because of a difference in style is such a waste.  The story is solid, the system is passable.  It may not look like the earlier games, but I would hardly call it "little kids" fare.

CTRL+F12 for upping the cycles.

The reason you've got the space on the right is you're playing a 320x200 game on a widescreen monitor.  It's happening to me too on my laptop (with a widescreen monitor).  It's fairly innocuous -- I just ignore it.

Been a while since I've played.  Stupid senior year is taking up all my QFG-replaying time.  ;-)

Is it true that just having a max of either Parry or Dodge makes Defense maxed?  I wonder how they came up with THAT formula.

I'd say that Parry is far too important a skill (especially in 5 and, to a lesser extent, 4).  Sink the points in and train, train, train.

Then again, this is coming from a Fighter-to-Paladin player.  ;-)

The dervish beard bug was fixed in the re-releases -- it only worked in the original.  Kinda like typing "ken" in Space Quest I, or like Radio Shock becoming Hz. So Good in Space Quest IV. God, it's nice being able to say things like that in a place where people actually know what I'm talk...

I haven't played it, but all the reviews of KQ7 that I have read says that it needs a improvement. I disagree.  I rather find that King's Quest VII, of all the series, is the one with the most charm.  It's a nice mix of puzzle and story, with beautiful animation and decent voice work to top it all ...
