My opinion, it's just an OS.  I recently installed SUSE on a seperate partition, and my experience with it is that there are a lot of ways to not get it to work the way you want.  Kind of an intimidating curve, but, it'd doable.  I, too, had trouble with multiple sound cards, and ended up just disab...

Yeah, Excel is amazing.  Programming is also really nice.  Web browsing and practically any normal activity is nice.  Remote Desktop is SO much easier with two screens.  Openoffice is free I s'pose.  I haven't been able to try FL-Studio on dual monitors though.  I only have them at work, and they ar...

I'm presuming this is XP. Go to your control panel, and set it to classic view (on the left).  Go to regional and language settings, and see if there is anything that you can change in those tabs that might help.  Specifically, under the languages tab, see the Text Services and input Languages, and ...

The thing is with many games that you see today, most of the programming has already been done.  It's a matter of implementing new graphic libraries, and huge texture files, and perhaps some AI revamping, and gameplay changes (Fifa, Madden, NFS, so on).  Plus, perhaps more than anything, the concept...

Al Emmo isn't free, though it is approximately 30% cheaper to get the downloadable version through the Telltale Games website rather than ordering the physical media. The economics major in me hopes that demand for the game is price elastic over this range. The PR guy in me is about to slap the econ...

North Korea nuke test

Perhaps its possible to be completely unaware of such activities, I mean, most of us, scattered about the world, have not seen much effect from all this bomb talk.  But, even if this IS a scare, with these heightening tensions.  It could mean a gigantic mess, basically.  I don't mean to be flippant,...

A friend of mine asked me that question a couple years ago, and now I feel somewhat guilty for just reading the answer.  Granted, I never put TOO much thought into it, but it did bother me at one point.  Or maybe I'm just trying to justify myself.  It makes so much sense now.

Silver Lining demo is out!

Not meaning to advertise or anything, but, I figure we are all at least semi-interested in these various Sierra-related projects.  I played it.  Looks promising.  The models are pretty good.  And voice-acting wasn't bad.  We'll see I guess.

I don't think it makes sense to try to "move to another graphics style."  Because the graphics alone don't make a good adventure game.  I'm sure all of us can attest to that.  I don't like or dislike an adventure game if it's classic, or contemporary, on the contrary, I've played great and...

I've just finished recompressing and redoing the drums, and  I'm going to submit this song to a judging panel, which will remain anonymous unless I make it. :P  So, I'd appreciate any objective opinions on the sound quality and anything else you'd like to say before I submit it tomorrow, if possible...

Thanks!  I used FL-Studio.  The drums were mousedone, because 1.  I wanted this song to have different drums throughout, and 2.  I'm not even that good with loops anyway.   Slicing I've only done very little of and it would have been heinous with this song.  I also found a really cool freeware VST s...

King's quest 5 Remix, "Drunken Bandit."

Hey guys, I wrote a remix to the Bandit Camp song in King's Quest Five. Just thought I'd drop a link in case anyone would like it.  I like it, but I don't know if that is considered bias, or what. :P  :)   http://defiant1.hostingisfree.com/user/binary/Drunken%20Bandit.mp3 Thanks, Defiant1 And the or...

Streed Rod TWO on the other hand.... ;) No really, that was a very fun game, if a tad unwholesome.   And, since it manages to be unique after all these years, I think it deserves a good old fashioned (new fashioned) redoing.  Instead of these new racing games that consist of decal permutations of sh...

Ahh, would be very cool.  It wouldn't have to be another tiresome series, it could just be huge.  It could be the course of the hero's adult life, from late teens onward.  None of this old and young stage Zelda crap either. ;)   I would love to see that happen, what bothers me about some of those op...

On the first subject:   I'm all for the continuation of quest games.  I think the reason why most games today are boring and dissatisfying is because of the lack of a real story.  And sure, Halo may have a story, but you don't have much to do with it.  Most action games are like that. Stories "...

A bit of nostalgia

You guys are probably getting sick of threads like this, but...  I've been checking in every now and then for the past few years,  and I just wanted to thank you guys for remaking these games, and especially for remaking KQ2, and I would like to say what a wonderful job you guys did.   When I was yo...
