AGS Jukebox : navynuke04

AGS JukeBox is a nifty program that provides a pleasant interface for playing tunes from the "music.vox" file associated with most adventure games.  It was developed by our own navynuke04! I'm hoping that since navynuke04 is a member of these forums, he'll notice this topic and post an up...

I like the QFG312 idea quite a bit.  After all, if you give it enough time, all of the player's choices from QFG5 will be expired history. All we need to assume is that the Hero outlives whatever family he may have had, and/or that he develops Alzheimer's.  In this case, his previous choices will no...

There's a free tool called Microsoft Virtual PC which allows you to run another operating system inside of Vista (in a window.)  This includes support for previous versions of Windows, so even if AGS isn't compatible with Vista, it will remain compatible with XP, which you can run IN Vista.

Ad Avis is dabbling in dark magic as QFG2 takes place.  He's more subtle about it than Katrina was, and the wizards of WIT haven't figured out what he's doing yet.

At the end of QFG2, he dies, obviously, so there's no need to expel him.

How about some dialogue for Katrina's picture, then?  She was expelled, of course, but it would be interesting if one could inquire about her.

Anyway, just a thought.

WIT sponsor

Any chance of allowing an alternative sponsor in the remake?  I personally never saw why Aziza wouldn't take you, especially after you meet her and make friends (like, say, if you save Julanar before taking the WIT exam.) It'd really just involve a little bit of unique dialogue.  Nothing serious.  I...

I'm not convinced that the reason we don't oppose QFG3's existence is because we're all hardcore QFG fans. After QFG2, QFG3 is always a "pain in the butt" for me.  It's just long and tedious, and not much fun.  But it's also a QFG game, so it's "good" in that sense.  I can't hate...

Good day!

Hey guys, I haven't given a proper introduction.  I'm Jay Jech, 20 years old, and my first adventure game was King's Quest I in 1992.  I got the collection for a birthday present.  That was the start of my fandom. I didn't stumble upon QFG until the late 90's, but it's by far my favourite adventure ...

Interesting.  It's nice to hear from someone who really likes QFGV. I never got into it, because quite frankly, I hated the graphics.  In my opinion, EGA > VGA > 3D.  Every shift seems to take the genre further from "adventure game" and make it an "action game."  Removal of the t...

Still an interesting concept, I think.  Since we're all agreed that the effects of Wages of Wars (non)existence is nothing more than speculatory, we can't really go any further with this discussion. That said, if there was a way to sacrifice QFG3 for a better QFG5 that fits with the series, I'd glad...

Actually I agree with you that QFG5 is a worse game; I just dislike QFG3 more because I feel that it's the reason that QF5 is a bummer  :lol

Many thanks, Erpy.  You did a good job at picking apart my arguments and revealing the flaws.  I'll admit, I'm biased against WoW and not everything that I said was logical.  I'd like to offer my response, now, because I do think this is an interesting discussion. First of all, I think you made a go...

No offense to any fans of QFG3, by the way.  I just personally don't think this game belongs in the series.

Rant: Wages of War

Personally, I feel that Wages of War was a huge disaster, and I blame any shortcomings from QFG2 or later completely on Wages of War.  Right from the start of development, the series was designed to be of four parts, and I think that this is apparent during gameplay. The reasoning for adding in &quo...

Rank the QFG games.

Which QFG game did you like the most?  Which did you like the least? Here's my preference: FAVOURITE [/u] So You Want to Be a Hero? Trial By Fire Shadows of Darkness DISLIKED [/u] Wages of War Dragon Fire I found that I can't really rank them, but I can lump them into raw categories.  I can take it ...

re: +1 increment to skills

Actually, the ability to increase a skill by a single point during creation is present in all of the QFG games. In the EGA version, you just press "+" instead of PageUp. However, I highly doubt that most people increase their skills by 1 point unless they're cheating (in QFG1EGA you could ...

All good ideas, but the only two that aren't overly complicated are "slut" and "musician." I think the OP's idea is to have a simple new class, adding no or very few new features... mainly just a different slant on puzzle-solving.  Slut and musician would both work in a similar f...
