Experience Points

They are there for QG1, they're there for QG2, and then they go away for the rest of the series. While I've never bothered to compile data and figure out if my hypotheses is correct, is does seem as if experience points in the first game effect what type of monsters one encounters, especially in the...

Re: Thief Extras

Hmmm... an extra break-in? Again, without spoiling anything is that a date-specific quest that requires triggers or is that one that can be done whenever? Oh, and yes, by the way, the tightrope sequence was excellently done. In the original version it's possible to complete it with low (or high) agi...

Thief Extras

I've been slowly enjoying this game, with each class, and perhaps whatever combination of classes I can import some other time. I've noticed a lot of little extras here and there (which I have enjoyed very much) especially with regard to the combat system. What about the thief though? other than the...

Re: The "Thanks" thread!

It's a little late, but since this seems the place to say so--I appreciate all the work that has been done on this game very much and since I've been able to play it recently, I have enjoyed it immensely. This game has not failed at all in keeping with the original version. Even the minor additions ...

Re: Import Complaint

The QFG1 export files do contain potion numbers. The Coles probably didn't really know yet what exactly they were gonna need for sequels, so those files contain some info that's not used. The export files also contain undead unguent, for example. (and in QFG2VGA, you retain them to make ghoul fight...

Re: Import Complaint

I wondered about this too, both with EGA original and this VGA remake. All of the games do this to one degree or another and the only one which offers an explanation is QG3 to QG4--the narrator specifically says you've lost your luggage. Aside from the benefits of importing higher and/or additional ...

Re: Question about Ad Avis

Doesn't ad Avis call out to the "Dark One" or "Dark Master" when he dies in the QG3 intro? I don't remember it anywhere in Trial by Fire. Then again the Hero is wearing the wrong clothing in the intro and well... you know.

Re: QG4 Problem... and it's NOT the infamous Error 52

I have the same problem with I use VDM Sound--all my battles freeze up, some more quickly than others, no matter how much I fiddle with anything else. Using DOSBox completely solves this problem. I used to use VDMS for QG1EGA & VGA, QG2, and QG3; and just use DOSBox for QG4 (some times just for ...

Re: Quest for Glory 4 1/2 EGA?

I was never sure if it was just me or if QfG dropped a little in plot and humor as the graphics increased (with the exception of QG4). It always seemed like the largest of graphics jumps also saw a decline in the game--Trial by Fire to Wages of War and Shadows of Darkness to Dragon Fire.

I haven't had a chance to check this site lately, but WOW, a lot of news has been pouring out since I've last been here.  All this work is really appreciated guys.

QG2 seems like the only game that AGDI could or would want to work on.  There's not much to add or improve upon with the other games.  As far as QG3 goes, I don't think it was incomplete to begin with.  Sure the game didn't have as much to it as the others, but I always felt like it was meant to be ...

Nah, they say it's RUMORED to be her final resting place. No one actually ever knew what happened to Erana. well she actually does say that "Her final resting place is due north of town"  now the real question is... Was that simply her final resting place before leaving spielburg, or wher...

Re: Points in Quest for Glory

Did anyone ever get a perfect score in QG2?  It's something I never pulled off and just assumed there was an error like in QG3. It is indeed possible to get a perfect score with any class in QfG2, except for a Thief-to-Paladin.  Any regular class can get all 500 points specific to the class, but on...

As far as I know, you just have to click somewhere in the savanna map to enter a close-up without a monster encounter.  Every time you do, there's a chance you'll get that or one of the other easter eggs. Hmmmm... I'll have to give that a try some time.  I've intentionally done that before and usua...

You can't do anything to those bats if I remember right.  Can't hide, can't dazzle them, can't calm them.

Could be for a variety of reasons.  Perhaps it was put into consideration that bats can sense through sonar, perhaps it was a bug, perhaps it was just to avoid complications.

Speech for QG2 would be odd, especially considering just how many characters there and the team would have to hunt down voice actors from QG5 ;) Rakeesh, Erasmus, Fenris, Ugarte, Ferrari, Nawar, Budar... I was very impressed with Josh Mandel doing work in the KQ1 & 2 remakes though.   If the AGD...

Honestly, I would skip the walkthroughs and just watch the "playthroughs" instead.

Just watch and/or fast forward up until the point you're stuck.

Given the change in game staff over the series, there were a number of inaccuracies with the story line, I remember something about Erana in the QG1 not lining up with the other games. Which problem was that? Was it about Erana? Though I guess you could say that it's a continuity error, you could a...

I also remember this happening.  The import bug even slightly carried over into QG3.  Somewhere in the original documentation for QG3, there's a FAQ and it explains why you have to confirm your class if you import your character- because of import bugs in QG1 & 2.

And what's even funnier is that they kept the Laibon's 'for what have you come here, friend of Rakeesh' bug and they cracked a joke about it in QFG 5 (look at the spears and shield in the Guild Hall for the reference). They could have easily done the same thing for the sell-beard trick and it would...

So what your really saying is that you sold that guys beard over and over and over? You might be able to fool the FBI but you won't fool the FBME! I'm also very pleased that there is a centralized thread for the game's progress and that there has been a wealth of information as to it's status and even what's currently being worked on.  Before I personally knew that if there wasn't a new journal entry out yet, that there was information to be f...

Here's a thread that deserves much more volume than it already has.  Great to hear that this is a thought in the works.  It would be nice if this game had some overlap with the QfG games, even if in a minor way such as your KQ2 remake had.
