I beat it too

I followed Erpy's advice and left my armor (and shield) in the chest at the inn to increase my stamina recovery. Not sure if the shield made a difference or not but you don't need a shield for the fight anyway.

I keep getting this error in the desert in my attempts to find this creature. I have it saved in a place where if I travel one screen West the game exits and I get this error.
