Yup. No thieving for you.

I just do the thieving on my thief, and only make my fighter into a paladin.

Re: My QfG4 wizard does not load onto QfG5

You may just try to re-export the game (and try it with NewRisingSun's patch).

QFG4 is notorious for having a buggy character exporter; 5 tries its best to read the characters but there's no promises.

You can basically stop right there. They have the *exclusive* right to sell it to you - or not. They are allowed to decide. In comes the invention of End User Licence Agreement. If you don't agree, they won't sell it to you. If you agree, the licence forbids you from doing many things - like disass...

Modifying the source code is considered a breach of copyright everywhere. Being unable to modify your own software is what originated open source on the first place. It depends. There's also a strong precedent for reverse-engineering. The rights granted by copyright: * Produce, sell, or distribute ...

Re: any chance ?

But frankly, it isn't worth it, and it would be a severe copyright infringement anyways, so you wouldn't be able to distribute it. You could probably distribute it just fine as a mod. As long as it requires the original game to use, it should be all kosher legally, as the user of the program is pre...

Never checked. Since drachmas only stack to 250 per stack inside chests, that's a LOT of stacks. Makes the chest pretty useless for everything else, as you'd need to hunt it down in a sea of drachmas.

You need to wait until the following day. The game designers were expecting that you would need to go back to Tarna to buy the stuff, not try to turn it in just after the initiation.

I think I have had more I will have to try again You can easily get more, you have to bank it though. At 65,535 in your inventory, it stops increasing when you get cash. I don't know what the limit in the bank is but I assume it's a 32 bit integer, so 4 billion or so. Beyond 100k or so, though, is ...

Indeed, I've finished the game without doing either the beast or Julanar. You don't even have to leave Shapier, ever, and you can win the game.

You miss out on a lot of points and such, but you can do it. The only mandatory parts are the elementals + rasier onwards, everything else is optional.

If you're on point-and-click he should start a sales pitch, say yes to wanting a saurus and no to all the prices until you get him down in price.

On combo or parser, just type "bargain"

True, and for a "look out for number one" Thief, I'd even say it's completely in character. However, if you don't want the final battle to be challenging, it's certainly recommended to bring back the more offensive of the two. No argument there, it does make the last fight SO much easier,...

Re: QFG4 editor?

Yeah, it's just slower for the mage than for the others, and since overall, you'll probably end up grinding 350 points of vitality over the course of the game, it's a bit slow. A slow 350 for a Wizard, yes. In a sense though, a Paladin may take the longest to max out Vitality since it's 425 points ...

Re: Game & Movie Sequels That Just Never Should Have Been Made

I liked Quest for Glory 5 quite a bit. The graphics may take some getting used to, but the gameplay is pretty good. There are some pros and some cons about the new interface but overall they weigh a lot more on the pro side. I'd put 5 dead center on the series (with 4 & 2 being better, 1 & 3...

Re: Money

Hmm, in 2? I'm not sure actually, over a thousand dinars.

The most I've had in any series was in 5, I had well over 100k drachmas, in fact robbing the bank the second time was a big hit to my wealth, because you can only carry 65,535 drachmas in your inventory so I lost all the rest.

Re: What was QfG5 like, anyway?

The graphics overall aren't bad. I would have preferred either complete 2D or complete 3D rather than the compromise, but it looks decent for the era, especially for a game that uses only software rendering. Most of my gripes for the game were getting it installed and patched, to be honest, and gett...

Not entirely. If you complete each of the first six Rites on your own (namely you get whatever item or items are necessary to show the Rite has been accomplished), you can hold up the start of the next Rite by simply not turning the stuff in. Once you're done with whatever grinding/sidequests/gener...

Re: Does anyone have a QFG3 Paladin Export?

Here is mine.

It's as close to a pure paladin as you can get -- it was a fighter in 1 and 2, changed to pally at the end of 2 and played through 3. It has 5 magic as a result of Healing Hands but no other spells.

QFG5 is fast in pretty much everything, albeit some classes have tougher points (like Vitality for a mage, or Int for a fighter).

Re: Confused about save transfer system.

Yup, you can import from 2 into 3, 4, or 5. If you import into 4, however, you'll be hurting stats-wise as it doesn't give you any boost to stats by virtue of being from an earlier game. QFG5, on the other hand, will add +200 to all nonzero skills (except honor, for some reason, which only gets +100...

Anyhow on the original topic: Graphics -- somewhat dated; it was early 3D and in many ways, the later 2D games (representing the best 2D had to offer) look better now than early 3D games. And it's missing some of the key pieces of later 3D games -- the camera is fixed and often clunky, there's no re...

Re: QFG5 Chief Thief help? (many spoilers)

Yep, doing those two worked. Though a bit disappointed at some of the loot -- the hero has a real eye for picking up crap. Like a 2500 quark statue that sells for a measly 100 drachmas, where he could have just taken 2500 drachmas from the piles and piles of money bags, carried the same weight, and ...

Did you save the games in the 1.0 version and reinstall the 1.1 version? I'm not sure if savegames are compatible between the old version and the newer release.
