Re: Mage's Initiation?

Couldn't have said it better myself, rugged. KS is not free money. Or risk-free, either. Nothing is. But unfortunately a lot of people gotten too starry-eyed at the prospect of not dealing with the constraints of a publisher and/or traditional capital sources (banks and investors) that they forget b...

Re: Mage's Initiation?

It's one of those damned-if-you-do-damned-if-you-don't things because yes, while we don't expect to have DoubleFine's numbers, we also don't have DoubleFine's human resources. We're stretched pretty thin managing everything ourselves and yes, while on one hand having that many betas is a great resou...

Re: Music & backgrounds in QFG4½?

A vast majority of the art assets were ripped from Conquests of the Longbow.

I think that the song with the same melody as the QFG theme was composed by someone who made the game.

Re: Mage's Initiation: Reign of the Elements

Old school RPG vet Jeff Vogel also has some interesting choice words on indie game pricing in today's environment: http://jeff-vogel.blogspot.com/2011/10/why-all-our-games-are-now-cheaper.html It's pretty verbose, but here's the chase: "If you're making a pretty, shiny, highly casual game with ...

Re: Kickstarter

Indeed, I concentrate in taxation but all my management accounting education has come out in spades when I did mock budgets for campaigns. I've also been talking to more accountants in my network about raising awareness for crowdsourcing in the professional sector, since I've noticed a lot of people...

Re: Kickstarter

The tax consequences under the US system can be dire if you don't plan properly. Some people are under the impression that Kickstarter funds are gifts/donations and therefore not taxable...which it could be depending on the project and circumstances. But if you have a business entity and intend to s...

Re: A personal Sierra relic I felt like sharing.

Apparently so. I guess a lot of ideas came from the fans before being finalized into the actual game script, until it got to the point that they received so much content that it couldn't be reviewed anymore. I didn't understand that until I was far older and the decline of adventure gaming had alrea...

A personal Sierra relic I felt like sharing.

I felt like posting this after I saw the video interview for the Art of Sierra book. I've had various moves over the years, but there's always something I took with me no matter what-- I had this shoebox from my dad's old place that I never had the heart to get rid of, as it contained all my old gam...

Re: Future Remake: Part Deux

As awesome as a VGA de-make of QFG5 and Mask of Eternity would sound...I go with King's Quest IV as my top choice, second to that would be Conquests of Camelot and Space Quest III. Though QFG5 would be easier to re-do because I can't really see what in Mask of Eternity could be used....except an ent...

Re: Mage's Initiation: Reign of the Elements

Hey, welcome back to the adventure alcove of the net! Thanks for your comments on Mage's Initiation, too. It's nice to know that the game resonates so well with the intended audience! It's great to be back! I hadn't been able to do much forum-ing in the past 2 years or so but I finally have some do...

Re: Mage's Initiation: Reign of the Elements

I'm a month late on this thread...but I'll post this anyway. I put my name on the preorder list, as I'm celebrating my emergence back into adventure game nerddom that I neglected for so very, very long. And I just want to say that I'm totally behind this project. It'll be interesting to see a QFG st...

Re: Holy crap it's been ages...

Oops I just realized that my tabbing screwed up and I should've posted this in the OT forum instead... :o my bad! Mage's Initiation looks impressive-- I wonder if it'll be a typical story-driven adventure or something with RPG elements like Quest For Glory except in mage types? That would be a cool ...

Holy crap it's been ages...

I missed this community tons!! Stupid career taking over my life and all. Well, I'm an EA and have a 90% completed master's degree now...with almost no jobs of my caliber no the market. So I'm taking advantage of the downtime to finally learn AGS and I'm making decent progress. Hoping to get a small...

The "Buy my book!" thing created this whole new inside joke with my friends. And it was full of so many actual laugh-out-loud moments and chock full of 90's nostalgia.

Jay Sherman was such a jobber! ha.

Most Missed Shows From The 80's & 90's

I know most of youse are from my generation. So which 80's (or early 90's) show do you miss the most?! There's probably a ton more I didn't even think of. Thundercats - it eventually made me a crazy cat lady. Married...With Children - The answer to all the "perfect family" sitcoms that wer...

Re: Mel Brooks is writing a sequel of Spaceball 2

To get back to topic of Spaceballs...I'm kinda glad a sequel was never made. The glorious 80's won't ever happen again I'm afraid...and this decade was full of Sequels That Never Should Have Been Made, Period.

Though there's some kind of Spaceballs cartoon out now?

I loved Dagger of Amon Ra, it was a great game. Though the thing about the game that made me wonder, was that some of the verbal content was raunchier than the Leisure Suit Larry games. Heh.

Most BAs are pretty worthless. Thinking of my sister (who's still crying over how long it took her to get her degree to this day) and some friends who haven't been able to do much with their BAs...especially in THIS crappy job market...it makes me so glad that I picked accounting. Yeah, it's not the...

Re: MSPaint Your Favourite Adventures!

eBay's kinda like playing the stock market-- you want to buy low and sell high. You win some, you lose some. I've lost and gained huge on there, I buy and sell crap on eBay constantly. My score's almost 1000! 8o Though accumulating all those seller fees is a total pain in the ass-- they should just ...
