Re: It appears someone may have tossed a Phoenix Down on Sie
There looks like there might be more to it than some have dismissed it. Discussion on the SHP forums http://sierrahelp.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4006 and in some of the Facebook Sierra groups.

Re: What did people think of the storyline for KQ4?
And I do appreciate that it has a female protagonist, something that happens far too rarely. I realize that this is a perception that many have, but it is not nearly that rare. KQIV and KQVII, Lost in Time, Phantasmagoria, Fascination, Pepper's Adventures in Time, The Colonel's Bequest and The Dagg...

Re: King's Quest 2 SCI remake any updates
Not currently. He has turned it over to the SCI Programmers' community Most of the scripting is done, but there is still much of the artwork that needs to be done. There was a community competition to do some PICs for the game last fall. There may be other ones at some point to chip away at what sti...

Far easier to just use the Sierra Resource Viewer. http://sciwiki.sierrahelp.com/index.php ... rce_Viewer

Re: Clickable Versions of Classic Games/Remakes
As MI noted, you would not be able to distribute any of the official games and I am sure that the developers of the fan made games would not appreciate someone else distributing their games. AGDI's games already come with an installer and now so does IA's. ;) The best that you can do is what I am do...

Re: The problem with indie adventures
I guess that Sierra's old SCI would work better with division of labor with its discrete resources, scripts (SRC), backgrounds (PIC) sprites (V56), test (TEX), etc. True, they all get packed into a single resource file, and some of the resources would be interdependent, but different parts could be ...

AGS Save Game Folder
On Vista and Win7 AGS seems to use the Shell folder "%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games", but XP does not have this shell folder. I noticed that an AGS game creates a "%userprofile%\My Documents\My Saved Games" since there is no shell folder for this on XP. Does anyone know what it does o...

Re: King's Quest II SCI in your browser
It is just using a Java port of DOSBox. "E:" is the emulated mounted hard drive. The save games are probably moot, anyway, as the game is is far from complete. It is only a demo. You will have to wait for the game to be finished.

Re: i would like to hear the soundtrack in midi
On x64 Windows it should probably be in SysWOW64 instead of the system32 folder. Also, you may want to check that the file has been unblocked (right click > Properties > click the "Unblock" button).

Re: i would like to hear the soundtrack in midi
There's always the MIDI loopback drivers which allow you to record MIDI data in a sequencer while playing through a separate player. I'm not sure exactly how it works as I've never tried it, though. You mean like MIDIOX? It may not be of any help with the Windows AGS games, but for DOS games you ca...

Re: Serious thoughts about a KQ 5 Remake...
You will find few KQ fans that would want to see KQ5 changed much. As stated, most were fine with the changes to KQ2 because it was a game that was a bare bones story that served mostly to string together a number of disjointed puzzles. Canon is important to the KQ fans and stretching too far is a d...

GOG does not have it. The most likely is eBay. It is usually cheaper to get the game individually than the Collection Series or Anthology.

Re: Best way to extract/record MIDI from DOS game?
One of the problems of Putzlowitsch's on Vista is that if you have 64-bit Windows it does not appear in the main control panel. On Vista 64 there is a 32-bit control panel as well, which is where you will find it. On Win7 the 32-bit control panel applets are in the main panel with all of the 64-bit ...

Re: Best way to extract/record MIDI from DOS game?
Keep in mind that not every thin in DOS games is necessarily MIDI. Usually it is, but sometimes it may be digital sounds. Early CD games often used Redbook CD audio tracks. Loom is one of the more famous examples of this. MI, the utility you were thinking of is probably this: http://www.sierrahelp.c...

Is there a way to set the game up so that it installs using a proper installation program, which shows the licensing agreement preamble, sets up any registry settings, and so forth? (We use Innosetup for the Windows version.) Just curious, what registry settings do you make? I can't see much need b...

Re: Installed King's Quest Compilation on Windows 7...
It does help if you ask the source. If this is the 2006 collection the default install location is in the Program Files folder. On Vista and Windows 7 it is best to not install legacy games in a system folder. These have restrictive permissions fro security purposes. For backwards compatibility Vist...
