Re: Awards? *possible spoilers*

I hypothesize that one may be able to earn the Pacifist award by throwing the knife at the web, and then not retrieving it later. Has anyone tried this?

Re: Awards? *possible spoilers*

I turned into an eagle and flew down from the top of the mountain on two different occasions, and I did not receive the Shortcut award. Might there be more to it than that?

Re: T-Shirts?

I thought purple was an interesting choice for Alexander's shirt, since purple was often a color associated with royalty and the aristocracy due to the high cost of purple ink.

Re: You have chosen....*spoilers*

I solved the puzzle correctly on the first try, and I felt it was maybe too easy at the time. It seems I was mistaken. I don't, however, feel this is a guess-the-developer's-intention design flaw, but rather it hinges on the fact that different players have different experiences, philosophies, and l...

Re: I've just completed the game with 205 points. I LOVE YO

I too really like the way Gwydion's dialog and voice were handled. And also the fact that he cannot swim in this version. It never even occurred to me when playing the original that there is no way he would have known how to swim. (Reading is another question, which has been satisfactorily rationali...

Re: Awards? *possible spoilers*

I got Stockholm without kicking the cat. Additionally, I was never punished, I talked to Manannan after four different meals (the maximum, it seems), and it took several more meals before I managed to defeat him. So, I was dealing with him for nearly two hours, I think.

Me too. I actually think AGDI's games tend to be released with far less bugs than Sierra's did.

Re: Awards? *possible spoilers*

Your English comes across as being as good as a native speaker's, actually. But some of these award references are cultural or highly idiomatic. A 'klutz' is a very clumsy person. Molasses is a type of syrup. It is highly viscous and flows very slowly, and we have the expression, 'slow as molasses'....

Re: bandit sleeping/moving-around randomness

Thanks for the outright explanation of the mechanism, Erpy. I have to admit that sometimes I get so immersed in these games that I tend to play them with a sort imposed story logic, so, yeah, I kept leaving the oak tree screen and doing other things instead of just climbing up and down the ladder. T...

Re: bandit sleeping/moving-around randomness

I'm going to try it again. I imagine I just had a statistically unlikely series of random outcomes. Twice. But Erpy posted in another thread that the more times you try, the more likely the bandit is to be sleeping.

Re: My thoughts on King's Quest 3: Redux *Spoilers Ahead!!*

Regarding the spoonful of mud, in the original KQ3, you only had to type 'GET MUD', and then, if you had the spoon in your possession, you would then have a spoonful of mud. If you didn't have the spoon, you couldn't get it. So it's implied that the spoon was used.

Bug notice: Game freeze involving cat in study

I tried opening the trapdoor in the study when the cat was walking near the entrance: the cat froze in the middle of his walk cycle, the cursor changed to the wait icon; then nothing happened, though the timer continued to tick.

I'm sorry. I goofed. My lowest score was 171. I mistyped 161 when I was taking notes.

bandit sleeping/moving-around randomness

I've been having some incredibly bad luck with the bandit seeming to constantly be awake inside the treehouse, and I'm wondering if the determining factor may be time-based rather than a random-number generator. During a recent playthrough, the bandit was awake 14 times in a row (after climbing down...

Re: Awards? *possible spoilers*

I got the Insomniac Award three times in a row because I didn't realize that sleeping actually sped up time. I would thumb through a book while waiting for Mannanan to return. I'm glad I finally realized it was useful to sleep.

I actually felt that the lizards comparing their tongue sizes came across as more intentionally innuendo-laden.

Re: Remake Comparisons

I just want to go on record that I don't have a problem with the green pinball. I realize it's an unlikely deus ex machina, but it really does help explain Daventry's restoration in KQ5. In fact, the restored garden in front of the castle seems to be based on what the castle looked like during the i...

Re: Post-game thoughts

Before KQ3r was released, I felt that KQ2+ was the best Sierra-style adventure game created. KQ3r is perhaps its equal. I've played throught the game 4 times already, and I look forward to playing it again. I couldn't help but notice that the production values are even higher in KQ3r than they were ...

Martijn, do yourself a favor and play KQ2+. It's worlds apart from the original King's Quest 2. It's one of the best adventure games ever made now.

I finished with 160-something. I'm afraid I didn't pay close attention at the time though. I'll see if I have a saved game near the end and report back.
