Could use help with 'Enry the 'Ermit award...
I know mostly everyone has figured this out already, but I've gotten all of the awards except the 'Enry the 'Ermit award. I've tried three different times using the guide at http://www.gamefaqs.com/pc/620222-kings-quest-iii-redux/faqs/66973 and I STILL can't seem to get it. Is there something I'm mi...

I haven't beaten the game yet, but so far it's been an amazing experience. One of the few AGS games that has a level of quality comparable to AGDInteractive's.

Re: Daventry the Wasteland
I like the idea that Alexander arrived with not much time to spare to stop Daventry's imminent destruction. I never imagined that the land had been on fire for too prolonged a period. One change I liked was the fact that Redux took out Rosella's dialog from the original that talked about repetitive ...

Re: Illegal Items and the logic behind it
Actually, choosing the incorrect laptop adapter was part of the game design. The player was supposed to see that they had the wrong adapter, go back to the time pod, travel back in time, and exchange the adapter. Whether or not this is good game design is a different story. (And I don't think restor...

The flames have a 5-over-4 compound rhythm, which follows this basic pattern:
x----x----x----x----
x---x---x---x---x---
after which it repeats. I always time it that I click right after both flames come up at the same time.

Re: Illegal Items and the logic behind it
Manannan's rules are contradictory and arbitrary, which is often the case in an abusive, dominant relationship. But all of you make a good point that maybe Manannan's jumping to conclusions when he's sees you with a pair of fly wings (presumably hidden securely within your pocket) and accuses you of...

Re: This game is way too difficult
You're right that DOTT doesn't make it easy to try out different items. I was forced to think through which items I should send first. Actually, the puzzle that frustrated me the most was reading the book to the horse. I don't remember there being any clues to that. I just tried it, and it worked.

Re: Illegal Items and the logic behind it
It could be argued that since Manannan is planning on killing off Gwydion very soon anyway, he's much less likely to tolerate spell ingredients that might be otherwise innocuous detritus Gwydion just happened to collect and keep with himself as part of his chores. And, yeah, one has to wonder about ...

Re: This game is way too difficult
Well... In their defense, Day of the Tentacle and Sam and Max ARE cartoons. In a sense. As far as my experiences with those games is concerned, I was never able to make it through Sam and Max on my own. I found it frustrating. Day of the Tentacle, however, I was able to figure out without help. It w...

For Klutz:
You have to trigger maybe two or three of the possible tripping/falling actions in the game to get this award. You don't have to do all of them.

I can't seem to get Scatterbrain. I've left the drawers and wardrobe open in M's room, left the trapdoor and wand cabinet open in the study, and the drawer open in the Behrs' house, but this doesn't seem to be enough. I even made sure to sit in Baby Behr's chair and break it. Any ideas?

Manannan only automatically gives you a chore at the beginning. He will only give you more chores after that if you disobey him. Feeding him doesn't count as a chore. He asks to be fed every time he returns from a journey or wakes up on his own.

Let's see... to get Wallflower, I think you only need to: speak to the bard just enough times for him to mention an instrument. after clicking the hand on the lute, speak to the barmaid enough times for her to inform you that you need to perform speak to the pirate captain once before giving him you...

You can still get the Underachiever award with 171 points (with reading the journal).
Also, the Grudge award seems to come from turning M into a cat at the first opportunity.

Re: Possibility of KQ5, KQ6, & KQ7 Remake?
I just don't like the idea that that it's impossible to fail. There's no sense of danger, something Sierra games retained along with every other game genre out there ever, but LucasArts abandoned. I'd rather be stumped at a puzzle that causes me to die rather than a puzzle that causes me to....simp...

Re: Possibility of KQ5, KQ6, & KQ7 Remake?
I'll always be fond of KQ5, but I feel like while the graphics and music were a huge step up, the puzzle design was actually taking major steps backwards. I really can't believe I managed to beat that game on my own. I'm generally against any dead ends where the player won't be aware they're leading...

I'm thinking that to get the Legenimor award you must get the item, talk to the Father, and ask the Oracle about 'oracle' and 'morgelein'. You get these options after the first run of questions about your name, family, sister, etc.. You have to click the talk icon on the Oracle again before she disa...

To get the Lightweight award, I don't believe it matters how much you carry during the game, but rather how much you hold at the end. Personally, I was only holding the green orb and an eagle feather when I reached the end.

Re: KQ3 Redux: Thoughts and Critique (warning: long!)
Maybe the most recent Gwydion snuck into the library for alone time? And latched it when he left? Of course, that wouldn't explain why the library was actually rather clean and seemingly dust-free in spite of fifty years of disuse. And maybe the former Gwydion had snuck a lute up to his room to prac...

Re: KQ3 Redux: Thoughts and Critique (warning: long!)
I agree about Rosella. The actress was apparently skilled, but the tone felt a bit cavalier. I'm thinking the writers were trying to match the version of Rosella in the original game, which Roberta Williams had given an awful lot of dialog compared to any other characters in the game. That Rosella c...
