Re: A brief account of KQ3 Redux' history

*Oh yeah, any word on a Mac port?
If they don't make one, I'm making one, or at least a winewrap. (IDK if distributing it would be legal, but I would make it just cause I can)

I bet there will be though, cause all the other ones have em.

Re: KQ2-MAC functionality request - Quit button

I guess they figured nobody would want to quit the game immediately upon launching it? once you see that king's quest ii logo, you see the pixelated graphics and as a modern gamer, you know you must get out of this mess AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AT ALL COSTS. you old school gamers just wouldn't understand.

Re: KQ1 in Linux (guide coming soon)

I am SO close to a working linux port. Only remaining problem is related to my midi configuration.

It gets to the disclaimer, but then it crashes.

Could be hours before it's working, could be weeks. I will keep everyone updated.

Re: KQ1 in Linux (guide coming soon)

Ok. I am very close to getting it working on my computer. However, it is an older version. version 4.0, as version 4.1 is compiled with a newer version of AGS, not yet supported in the linux engine. Trouble is that it is dependency hell. it will be a while (or it will seem like a while to me, lol) b...

Re: Mac Versions

Whatever it was, they did a great job. I couldn't run AGS games on my Mac using Darwine, no matter how I tried. But the new versions of KQ1 and KQ2 work like a charm.

KQ2+ in Linux (guide coming soon)

SO you want to run KQ2+ in linux? Ok then. It works basically. install wine and run through that. 320x200 works, 640x400 works. windowed mode works, everything works to my knowledge. I will write up a guide for officialnesses sake, but it's pretty basic. Still though, along with KQ1, I would like to...

KQ1 in Linux (guide coming soon)

To run KQ1 on linux, ATM you need wine . Install wine for your distro, then run the game through wine. I will make a more elaborate guide soon. I notice you guys made a linux version. I volunteer to make and support a linux port. a dev can PM me if they are interested. I only require a little bit of...

I got it to work. No idea how. Maybe it has something to do with that I am using wine on ubuntu hardy.

Re: Random rants go here.

We do have a design concept for a new Himalaya Studios game. It's not going to be an Al Emmo sequel, but something more along the lines of a fantasy/adventure like King's Quest and Quest for Glory. Finding the necessary funding to get started on the project is proving somewhat difficult, though! ya...

Re: Issue with Hq filtering

For me, I prefer the 2x filter over the 3x. I can't use no filter (I'm not talking southern-ish :p ) as I am using Wine in linux, not native windows. I think I agree about the watercolours. I just haven't ever seen it without the 2/3x filters.

Re: KQ2 VGA v3.0 ERROR with Hq2x and Hq3x filters

The normal 320x200 looks blurry no matter what i do, but i guess you cannot avoid that on a large widescreen monitor. That's why I still prefer a CRT monitor to an LCD because unless you're running in its native resolution, an LCD will blur everything and look like crap. Horrible for any game. I pr...

Re: KQ2 VGA v3.0 ERROR with Hq2x and Hq3x filters

I was finally able to play the game at 2x nearest neighbor and it looks great now. In order to achieve that, i had to open the nvidia control panel, go to flat-panel scaling and change the setting to nvidia scaling with fixed aspect ratio. The normal 320x200 looks blurry no matter what i do, but i ...

Re: Quest for Glory 5 Install on Xp

INteresting. I don;t think that should;ve worked, but glad it did! :D :) It only worked because it is an older game and all the files for the game are either on the CD or in game folder. My computer's register is unaware that I have the game installled, but as long as I use a short cut to the QFG5....

Re: KQ2 VGA v3.0 ERROR with Hq2x and Hq3x filters

Finally, keep in mind that using those filters will actually make the game look worse. It was designed for 320x200 resolution and the highest filter you should really use is the '2x Nearest-Neighbour' one. ..unless of course your card somehow doesn't support it. But yes, I always use the 2x filter,...
