Re: Quest for Glory and King's Quest fan art
Thanks DrJones! Night of the Cephalopods looks cool and inspiring, thanks for linking it :) Yet another old adventure game gets revived on iPhone, Inherit the Earth: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_FQw_hsDCY Some entirely new adventure games are getting made too, like this game called 1112 (it's ep...

Re: AGDI mentioned in GameTrailers!
Very cool featurette. What surprised me was the relatively high budget! I remember seeing some old Finnish magazine ads where the computer prices were much higher compared to current prices. I was born in 1985 so I don't have first hand experience of buying one back then though

Re: Quest for Glory and King's Quest fan art
Gronagor: Thanks! The tagline is a bit misleading, it's not an adventure game. We had a tagline contest and that was the winning entry :) Minigore is an action game, here's a screenshot: http://www.mountainsheep.net/minigore/AppStoreScreenshot01.jpg Flight of the Amazon Queen was also released on th...

Re: Quest for Glory and King's Quest fan art
Thanks for the comments! I've been away for a bit, mostly occupied by this: http://www.mountainsheep.net/minigore/800x550.jpg I developed the game with my coder brother Kimmo. We hired three contractors for audio: Voice acting by Egoraptor, sound fx by Tapio Liukkonen and music by Tapani Siirtola. I...

Re: QFG Art Competition Original
Very nice Dave! Here's some pointers about perspective and sky color (which is usually the brightest part of any image if there are no man made lights. I realized it myself when I started doing photography seriously, which is to say that photography can improve painting knowledge as well ;)) http://...

Update and bigger resolution on the QFG 4 pic: (It's getting very busy at work for the next month so probably no updates during that time) http://www.timovihola.com/gallery3/QFG4WIP02.jpg SolarKid, my dream Quest for Glory would be one with real sets (like they did the backgrounds in Tim Burton's st...

MusicallyInspired: Yeah, just needs 3x bigger heads and it's set hehe Gronagor. thanks again! Lady Pyro: One of my favourite quotes goes something like "everyone has 10 000 bad drawings in them, you just have to get them out first." It's mostly about mileage, I know many artists who are mu...

Re: Quest for Glory I 2.5D
Looks good already! The original game wasn't perfect with perspective but one thing you can do is to align the character with the biggest element of the scene (which is the perspective line) and in best scenario it can look very convincing. Being a programmer your're probably familiar with plane nor...

Re: Quest for Glory and King's Quest fan art
Here's a work in progress of Conquet of Camelot: http://www.timovihola.com/gallery3/ConquestOfCamelotWIP.jpg I thought it would be of interest for some people to see how it progresses to a final painting, I'm not even sure myself how it will look then. (I'm thinking about going for even more cartoon...

"The Hero was seen outside of Shapeir with a mystery woman." My submission for the QFG2 art competition, more cartoony style this time: http://www.timovihola.com//images/artwork/fan_art/questforglory2.jpg I had this idea many days ago but was short on time and it wasn't because of too much...

Re: Quest for Glory and King's Quest fan art
Glad you liked them! It takes around 10-20 hours to get to that kind of detail as in the QFG painting. One or two hours goes easily into splitting the image into manageable layers: Foreground, middleground, background, characters and weapons all on separate layers for easier manipulation. You can do...

Quest for Glory and King's Quest fan art
Greetings from the freezing land of polar bears and manbearpigs, Finland. First of all I want to congratulate AGDI team for the great work on Quest for Glory 2 and the King's Quest games! As a fellow game developer I understand the workload that's needed for such a task. About ten years ago I did a ...
