Re:

Thank you Erpy! You beat me to it. I'll just add the official blurb and some screenshots, for people who haven't been here that long. I hadn't forgotten this forum, I just needed to find my old password note :) http://crystalshard.net/images/shot1.png A Tale of Two Kingdoms is an epic faerie tale, i...

To my best knowledge, yes. This sounds pretty weird actually. Maybe you should google for some codec information, it's possible that you have a DLL version conflict somewhere.

Re: A Tale of Two Kingdoms

Newsflash!

We have a trailer movie available for download. This is a 14-meg WMV movie of our intro sequence, with lovely graphics and stunning music. I encourage everybody to take a look at it!

Also, we are holding auditions for voice actors. Interested parties are welcome to drop by.

It's simple to make a straightforward game. Only it being simple doesn't mean it isn't a lot of work... the saying of 10% inspiration and 90% transpiration is very applicable. Also, there are a number of games that aren't particularly straightforward - the timing of Laura Bow games, for instance, or...

AGI and SCI0 games never seem to have any problems (well, except if you put an AGI game on 'fastest' speed :) ) but many SCI1 games are rife with timing bugs - e.g. SQI+, SQIV and QFGIV. Usually, patches can be found on the internet. This is rather unique as games go - many old DOS games run far too...

They did. It's called Monty Python's Complete Waste of Time. It's also an adventure game, and if your character dies you have an option to rewind to the point where you died

(which, of course, means you die right again...)

Okay. (I'm assuming you are not referring to adventure games with text, e.g. Enchanter, or static graphics, e.g. The Hobbit, or indie games, e.g. Larry Vales). 1.Monkey Island II 2.King's Quest VI 3.Loom 4.Hand of Fate (Kyrandia II) Oh and speaking of landmark games, 1.Maniac Mansion - mouse interfa...

Okay, quite possibly the stupid question of the week, but I never got that KQ9.org site working properly on my browser. So, since I couldn't find a message in plaintext... when is the release date?

I'd hate to burst your bubble, but I've never heard of a single game design team that was short on writers (and of several that had too many writers). If you want to join a team, your best bet is to practice a skill that will be required on that team (such as artwork, music or programming). Just my ...

Well, QfG4.5 is not bad as adventure games go. You just have to consider it's a fanmade mod with shots from other games, and even photos, hacked in. But the puzzles are decent. Or indecent. Or both. Ah but never mind that. Seriously, all four games are really good, but you can't really consider that...

Oh, yeah, that's easy. In the original KQ3, there's only one room for desert (apart from the 'early desert' where Medusa appears) and only one for the sea. Ditto for the sea in KQ2 or KQ4, among others, and QfG2's desert, QfG3's savannah, etc. If AGI can do that, then so can AGS.

FGF -> You could always start with something small. Think five rooms, three characters and a dozen objects. Just hand-draw it, we'll still play it (think Larry Vales for a sample of how one does not need top-notch graphics for a fun game)

Muzlak -> ooh, RPG? Which one?

Excuse my cynicism, but the story will probably be 1) predictable and/or 2) unrealistic (although hopefully not as poorly done as in the first two). So I'm watching it for the SFX. And for the fact that it might be one of the rare hollywood films with a bad ending.

I do tend to play the games thrice, each with the pure classes. IMHO cross-skilling detracts from the experience, but YMMV.
