Which spell are you working on? I'm guessing you know this, but you have to make sure you're at the right step before you wave the wand. It depends on the spell as to when you're supposed to wave it - sometimes before reciting, sometimes after.

I believe you also have to get the Doolittle Award to get 'Enry the 'Ermit. Also, make sure you talk to Smaude before you walk up to her. You can also talk to the Yeti during the cliffs puzzle. Actually, I just checked, and touching the wand with your hand kills you. The way I always did it was to use the arrow to select the wand and then click the wand on the item you need to wave it over.

Thanks again for the help on the Gluttony award - I did figure it out, I was waiting too long (after dealing with Mannanan) to start trying to get the award and was therefore missing out on an important item. I'm not sure if that's a glitch in the game, or if it was supposed to be that way.

No, you cannot get Roger Wilco and Gluttony in the same run. You can get Gluttony with many other awards though.
