I think the setting should be on the status screen (the screen with the save and quit buttons and the volume control). Maybe it's not present in some versions of the game?

As for the period and quitation marks, I'm pretty sure that either style is considered acceptable. It's like color vs. colour.

I had never gone in there empty-handed before. Even when I went in and out with nothing, it took like 4 tries before the sequence happened.
