Re: Problem with QG4

Edit the resource.cfg and make sure the line with patchdir goes something like: "patchdir = .\". Otherwise, in Dosbox, it won't use your patches even though they're in the game folder. http://www.agdinteractive.com/forum/images/avatars/moodpics/Nashnorm.jpg Is this in regards to the scrip...

Re: Q.F.G. II: eliminating letterbox resolution at 640x480

HQ2X/HQ3X smooths the fonts and some of the graphics a little: http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b362/bcrt2000/qfg2.png This only works when you select the smaller resolution of the two choices (640x400/960x600) If you have an nVidia card and want to use 960x600 in fullscreen, you may need to add it...

Re: Tragic Save Bugs

I like to keep all my QFG saves in the game folder they come from which is how it is now. When you have every game from every Quest series on your drive putting all the saves in one folder can get hella confusing. This is textbook vista-weirdness by the way and it's the reason I put XP on my mac, I...

Re: Quest for Glory II Remake: Technical FAQ

AGC1, ADC2, Erpy and team, I'd like to start by thanking you for a simply amazing and, I must admit, somewhat nostalgic creation. What you've accomplished is simply nothing short of tier 1 developer. The 3D animation/cut scene at the start is one of many great examples. Unfortunately, even a softwa...

Re: Installation/Vista UAC Administration Prompting

Potentially the installer could be modified to install to My Documents or something and then wouldn't require admin privileges, but that would be very non-standard. Bingo. Windows 9x/2000/XP/Vista standard for installing games/apps is into Program Files. Windows 9x/2000 standard for saving games is...

Re: Tragic Save Bugs

I'll say that this is a fault of the game rather than the fault of Vista (unlike what I said in the Installation thread). The game should run in User mode by default, and saved games should go into the Saved Game Folder for Vista so that this User/Admin weirdness *cant* happen-- that only happens wh...

Re: The X-Ray goggles in there? :p

DOSBox should work, you just need to figure out what speed settings to use, and you need to change the CPU setting to "dynamic" or else it will be extremely slow.

Re: HQ3x bug?

I think it's just that your video card doesn't support the higher resolution. The reason the filters were added to AGS, I believe, is to give people more options to get the game running at full-screen mode on modern systems with newer video cards. Not as many systems run 320x200 resolutions properl...

HQ3x bug?

When I set the Graphics Filter to "None", the 1x resolution setting is 320x200. That mode doesn't work, which is fine because I can use other modes. When I set the Graphics Filter to HQ2X, the 1x resolution setting is 640x400. That mode works and looks great When I set the Graphics Filter ...

Re: Quest for Glory V de-make?

I think with this release of QfG2, the time for remakes is over. Its time for people to bring new ideas and bring Adventure games into the modern era. I like what I see from Telltale (although the quality of a episodic season still isn't the same as playing through a non-episodic adventure game) and...

Re: DIGG IT!

I fired off emails to Kotaku, Joystiq and Destructoid (the big 3 gaming blogs) when I woke up this morning. All three picked up the story by the time I arrived at work :) In addition I posted it at a hockey community website (thebreakaway.net). The biggest misconception I've seen right now is that p...

Oblivion is the closest you can get to the QfG series. Its a shame that there are only a few quests in the game which require some puzzle solving, because it would give the game so much more depth. Bioware has also made a bunch of RPGs which might be attractive to QfG fans. I personally have played ...

QG5 was good, but it was WAY too short. There was a lot of stuff that was cut out because they were going over budget. I think if they waited a year to start the project, they might have had more success building an engine like Gabriel Knight 3, which was probably the last *great* adventure game tha...
