Re: Another King's Quest 4 post.....

Your guess is as good as ours. Daniel never did write a screenplay for KQ4, to the best of my knowledge. We'd probably have done minimal additions and changes much like KQ3Redux and just kept with the original story mostly. We'd add little Father storyline elements and eggs but nothing beyond that I...

Re: Another King's Quest 4 post.....

As much as I like the thought of a KQ4, we're not doing it in secret. It was a clever play on words with the whole KQ3 thing. We had said that we wouldn't be STARTING anymore remakes. KQ3 was already started when that statement was made. And yes, our licensing agreement with ActiVision included only...

Re: Best way to extract/record MIDI from DOS game?

MIDI data is MIDI data. If it's MIDI DOSBox will output it. Remember that Adlib/Sound Blaster music is NOT MIDI, even though the source file inside the game might be MIDI. Each game must be set up to output MIDI (usually this means setting the music option in the game installation/setup to "Gen...

Re: Best way to extract/record MIDI from DOS game?

There is a homemade application out there that will allow you to choose the default MIDI driver for Vista and Win7. Can't remember the name.

Re: Best way to extract/record MIDI from DOS game?

Correct, the DOSBox method won't work for recording MIDI from a Windows game. You could use a MIDI loopback driver in that instance. Do a Google search to find more information on that. All I know about it is that a loopback driver allows you to record MIDI information being played on the same compu...

Re: Future Remake: Part Deux

He was being sarcastic. If you bothered to do a forum search you'd know that there isn't one. Well, there was one (not here) but there hasn't been any updates in ages and the website has been taken down.

So no, there isn't.

Re: Best way to extract/record MIDI from DOS game?

You'd probably find more help about this at Quest Studios or VOGONS . You can certainly record MIDI data from one computer to another if you have the proper hardware, peripherals, and software. However, the easiest way is probably to just pressing Ctrl+Alt+F8 in DOSBox, which starts and stops record...

Actually, I said the opposite.

Re: Alexander's Tavern Song

It could be taken both ways. The music is enchanted so maybe the fates deciding to pick that particular song for Alexander to sing is no coincidence. I'm afraid I can't take credit for this one, though. It was AGD2's or Wookie's idea initially and Tom actually made the track. I had nothing to do wit...

The Stanley Parable

Guys, this is truly fascinating. You must play it. It's a free MOD for the Source engine. So if you have Steam all you need is the "Source SDK 2007" from the tools section in Steam (which is free) and you can play it. Truly brilliant game design. It's an experimental narrative-driven first...

So they put Freddy Freakin' Kreuger in Mortal Kombat. There are rumours that Jason is also coming.

Music in classic and modern video games

http://kotaku.com/5821655/why-video-games-with-silent-heroes-had-the-best-soundtracks I found this very interesting. It marks the very difference I've been trying to nail down in why I prefer classic game soundtracks to new game soundtracks: classic games had no voice acting. The article points out...

When I said "do it for free" I meant "do it without getting paid for it". It wouldn't really be up to us to charge for it or not.

We don't have permission to do any more Sierra remakes. We wouldn't want to keep doing this for free anymore anyway.

Re: Soundtrack available?

If I charged for it I'm sure ActiVision's lawyers would be all over me in no time. It's illegal for me to sell it seeing as it technically belongs to ActiVision and everything about the game is supposed to be free. Also, the soundtracks for the past AGDI remakes are all free so why would I charge fo...
