Re: Telltale Games take on Back to the Future and Jurassic Park

The Back to the Future game is now available for pre-order for $24.95 from TellTale: http://www.telltalegames.com/bttf I've pre-ordered mine. It's a pity they weren't able to get Michael J. Fox to perform the voice of Marty. That would have really added a lot of authenticity to a game that has been...

Yes, I know! Precisely they must come out before Duke Nukem Forever because it would be completely shameful if they were released later than the king, heh. >D I hope the race to release before DNF will also bring Nethack 4.0, Internet Explorer 10, and Space Quest II VGA. :lol Edit: Looks like the p...

Re: Sierra AGI games coming to iPad

Sweet. I didn't take the time to watch the video, but from the looks of that still, it seems they've removed the parser, which is a shame. Still, glad these classics are making their way to new devices. :)

Re: The Silver Lining episode 2 dated!

I'm particularly looking forward to your review of it, pbpb33. Until I get TSL working in Wine on my iMac (haven't had a chance to fiddle with it in a few days), I won't be able to play it. So I need to read an objective review from someone who saw the same issues with Episode 1 as I did. ;)

Whoops, you're right. Not sure how I missed that. :) The two art styles are fairly similar though.

Oh wow, that concept art is amazing! I could be wrong, but that looks a lot like it was drawn by Steve Purcell, which blows my mind in such an awesome way. :)

Re: ScummVM now supports SCI!

Actually, QFG4 is one of a few SCI games that DOESN'T work well. I can't account for the timing bugs, but the game is graphically very glitchy--the Sierra logo at the beginning is all miscolored, and the transparent shadows seem to come up as opaque cyan on my machine. Also, in all the point and cli...

Re: Windows XP to 7 Compatibility

The Dos version of SQ6 works fine in dosbox--you may need to turn up the CPU cycles a bit to get it going smoothly though (at least I did on my older Windows machine.) KQ7 does work in Dosbox, but you have to patch it (available at the Sierra Help Pages) to turn it from the Windows version into the ...

I'm definitely also excited about this. From what I gather, Eriq has been working on putting this project together for some time. I'm looking forward to rewarding the fruits of his efforts with a purchase. :)

Re: Episodic releases VS. Full releases?

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade had the best pack-in ever for an Indyfan, in the form of the printed version of Henry's Grail Diary. Sure, it didn't look anything like the movie version, but the text and drawings were awesome and an Indy nerd's dream. :)

Re: Episodic releases VS. Full releases?

Mine actually go into the applications folder or the desktop depending on the preference I choose during installation. I'm ok with that. Arguing against a game because there are too many icons is a bit silly. Hey, if you read my post again, you'll see I'm not actually arguing against episodic gamin...

Re: The Silver Lining Lives!

The main problem with the way POS has handled receiving criticism, is that they've basically said up front--"here are the things you're allowed to criticize, here are the things we might take to heart, and here are the things you're just going to have to suck it up and deal with, because we hav...

No, they're not automatically sent to your address. You've got to place and order but you're only charged for shipping if you own the whole season. That goes for any complete Telltale season. Oops, you're right--I forgot about that. I bought the season during the DVD promotion, so I didn't realize ...

Re: Episodic releases VS. Full releases?

With every Telltale game I own, I've just bought the whole season after the game was already out and completed. Tales of Monkey Island was really really good, but with all the cliffhangers, I probably would have gone nuts having to wait between each episode. If you like the Monkey Island games, I wo...

Usually, musicians are only required at the end stage of development, so this means we could see a new Himalayastudios game soon. :D Maybe in a high budget commercial game, but in these online development groups, the whole process from beginning to end is very organic and constantly being worked on...

Re: The Silver Lining Lives!

Having been a pretty vocal critic over on their forums initially (and elsewhere), I'll throw in my two cents here, too. I definitely understand and agree that recording narrator dialog is the bane of most voice actors' existence, and takes an inordinately long time in games like this. In fact, finis...

Re: The Silver Lining Lives!

I also like the sound of the voice and the quality of acting of the actress playing the narrator. She and Graham are actually probably my two favorite voice actors in the game so far. My issue, like MI's, is with a lot of the writing, which I quite frankly see as too amateurish and fanboyish to be u...

Re: The Silver Lining Lives!

How can anyone be surprised by all the criticism? It's their own fault for hyping themselves up as much as they did. I mean seriously, they're constantly billing themselves as the official last word on the King's Quest series and that really bothers a lot of people, I think, particularly if those pe...

Re: Game Lengths - Past to Present

I think it's more the nature of adventure games than all games in general. Even the first Zelda, for example, was quite a long game, especially if you wanted to find all the secrets yourself, without Nintendo Power. Role-playing games in particular tended to be quite long, even back in the day.
