I believe the bandits are in the desert A) because their secret hide out is in the maze like desert and B) They hide the loot they still in the big temple thingy which is also in the desert. And C) they mainly steal sand :) Seriously though, maybe there's another city on the far side of the desert?...

Okay, I haven't seen that much of DBZ, but the fact that the average ki attack destroys a mountain and leaves the opponent entirely unharmed, always seemed strange to me (aside from the fact that they should run out of mountains sooner or later). Kill Bill? Yeah, that was pretty bad. Also, any film ...

Rugged -> there were plenty of games in those days that didn't have so many annoying dead ends (e.g. TSOMI). Anyway consider this thread just a thought experiment. Kurdt -> yes, that does sound better, only it would feel a bit frustrating to me because the obstacle (being allowed up the mountain) ca...

Well, you asked me to list the engine you know, and so I did. I believe if you were to make an adventure game, Wintermute would be sufficient. For an FPS, probably not - you'd be advised to take the halflife or doom/3 engine instead, system specs permitting. Of course you can always write your own, ...

I myself have never understand why this game don't have a custom avatar picture options or a female hero character as a main character well maybe it is just me who thinks like that hehehe. The reason is probably a disk space issue. There's lots 'n lots of frames to the hero, and these would all hav...

On the other hand, there are some adventure games, in which dead-ends really reduce the pleasure of game-play. I'd like to know which games you consider such. I'm going to think some more about this - but I think it's an interesting discussion, to see how people WOULD re-design KQ5. Any chance of g...

So it can be done you just have to live in a time when there was no such thing as walkthroughs lol! Of course it can be done, someone has to write all those walkthroughs in the first place. But this pretty much proves my point, doesn't it? (yes, I know a dozen people isn't anywhere near statistical...

That's a good point, true. I'm just thinking though, why aren't Hobbits supposed to sprout wings? They could have wings, however, if Tolkien wanted them too. It's his creation; his choice, I suppose. It would have been believable if they had wings from the beginning. It would not be believable if...

It's obvious that vulnerabilities are found quicker in an OS with many users (Windows) than in one with few users (Linux or MacOS). It may seem obvious, but it isn't true. For Linux, it's partially because the average Linux user is far more computer literate than the average Windows user; it's also...

So why are we able to suspend our disbelief for somethings, and not for others? Those are all, for all intents and purposes, childish and they disregard realism and logic. Precisely because they disregard realism, but not logic. This is a bit tricky because we're probably using different definiti...

The reason why Windows has so many problems, security threats, and whatnot, is because hundreds of millions of users use it. If EVERYONE was using linux, I guarantee that there'd be just as many security threats. I don't think so. Microsoft's prime concern has always been marketing, and indeed it i...

There's a BIG difference between history and something based on history. I know :) I just enjoy playing devil's advocate too much. However - history, at least for most people, is a set of common memories. If you manage (through extensive propaganda, or documentaries, or whatever) to change the cons...

If a game is abandoned, and is no longer being sold by the company then it should automatically turn into freeware. Well, that is actually true - sort of. Copyright expires 90 years after the death of the person to which it applies (it used to be 70, but the american music industry succesfully lobb...

I never said that you liked him either
He is common, though, and even appears in Baldur's Gate... he's also widely parodied, for instance Order of the Stick has a Zzt'dri, and 8-bit Theatre has a Drizz'l.
His level is lower than I thought, actually. But that's probably a good thing.

I haven't read the books, but I am familiar with Drizzt (and Raistlin, and Tasselhoff, etc). It is true that many people like them, however it tends to be something that people like at a certain age (no offense meant, just stating a general tendency), and once they've read more books (for instance H...
