Re: Needs to be made: QfG-style game with an East Asian setting
Hey, I'm pedantic too, and I'm quick to correct most people on "Dao" vs. "Tao". But you OBVIOUSLY know your stuff, with Pinyin translation and I see it's an educated and researched spelling, not a phonetic-to-text translation error. I'll always call it "Tao", probably ...

Re: Needs to be made: QfG-style game with an East Asian setting
Brainiac: I'm not too informed about the differences between Chinese, Japanese, and Korean fox spirits, I'm afraid. I'm more into Chinese mythology, history, culture, and classical literature, than the equivalent Japanese and Korean stuff. Chinese fox spirits - the huli jing you mention - are pretty...

Re: Needs to be made: QfG-style game with an East Asian setting
No, it's Dao. I could explain why this is so, and why most westerners write it as "Tao", but unless you're interested in the differences between the old Wade-Giles and modern Pinyin systems for romanising Chinese characters, you probably won't want me to. My Chinese girlfriend and the frie...

Re: Sink That Ship!
I'm not sure if I would like to see a Batman flick top the list either. Hmm. So, for the sake of harmony and maintaining the cinematic status quo, I say: keep the ship - drown the bat!

Fair enough. But be very wary of reviews posted on speciality adventure game websites (such as justadventure.com). They'll give a glowing review to almost anything that resembles a traditional adventure game.

I'd save your money, if I were you. Toonstruck got mostly low-to-middling scores from critics when it was originally released, and for good reason.

Re: Some Constructive Criticsm
Absolutely. If the AGDs have a spare day or two, they should bump of the res. of QfG 2 to 1024x768 with 32bit colour and replace all the artwork with new stuff in this style. I mean, how hard could it be?

Re: Some Constructive Criticsm
I agree with you. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that I'd love to see a high-res QfG game adopt the art style that features on the homepage. Great stuff.

Re: Needs to be made: QfG-style game with an East Asian setting
I think that rather than having classes, a concept of "philophies" should be adopted. What I mean is, at the outset you could learn the basics of any skill through practice, and then, later, by being tutored by an expert. However, the fundamental philosophies that your tutors believe in wo...

Re: A Big Thank you to ADGI
How can you thank them for doing justice to Quest for Glory 2 when the remake hasn't been released and (I assume) you haven't yet played it? I mean, I am sure that the remake will be very good, but aren't you being a bit... premature?

Re: Needs to be made: QfG-style game with an East Asian setting
See, I would go the opposite direction - I'd streamline the game - because adding extra classes (etc) would make the game far too large and complex for a small team of developers. No, I'd eliminate strictly defined classes from the game altogether. I'd retain the "use a skill to improve it"...

Re: Needs to be made: QfG-style game with an East Asian setting
Fair idea. Personally, though, I'd prefer to see a whole new set of characters, including a new hero. For better or worse, QfG V should be considered to be the end of the old hero's story, in my opinion.

Re: Quest for Glory V de-make?
Seems like a rather needless idea to me - remaking QfG V to resemble the games that preceded it. Besides, in my opinion, many of the game's most significant flaws are unrelated to the visuals, and fixing these issues would require major changes to be made to the game at a fundamental level. Not fixi...

Re: Needs to be made: QfG-style game with an East Asian setting
You shouldn't be surprised that it's a good idea, because it's an uncommonly known fact that I'm the second most creative person who you'll never meet. And the reason that I say that I'm the second most creative is because I'm also the second most humble. But, yeah, really, I think that the idea of ...

Re: POLL: Who would blow up with happieness for a new QFG
I'd love to see another QfG. Something with the production values of the upcoming A Vampyre's Story . Preferably, the game would be written and designed by the Coles, or at leas with their input, but fresh blood might be able to create something interesting too. Ideally, I'd prefer to see someone cr...

Mage is my favourite class, followed closely by Thief and then Paladin. I'm not too keen on the Fighter class.

Re: Al Emmo and the Lost Dutchman's Mine has been released!
But hey, as I always say, it's $10 for the standard edition now. That's dirt cheap, and if you don't like that game, that's still pretty inexpensive for decorative adventure gaming drink coaster. True, but sadly misguided, tasteless fool that I am, I'm going to have to pass on Al Emmo. I look forwa...

Re: Has anyone played Dracula Origin?
Dracula Origin is awful. The reason I say this is because the writing (the prose and the dialogue, and the way that they work together to progress the plot and to convey character and meaning) is excruciatingly amaturish. Characterisation is poor; plot development is poor; dialogue is poor; the lang...

Yup, my opinions are based on playing the demo a while back. I'm sure that the game is very good, but it's not for me. I must have different thematic and aesthetic values, or something.Angelus3K wrote:Its been awhile but I think there was a demo of the game, have you tried that to see if you like it?

Re: Some Constructive Criticsm
It's the nature of fanboy/fangirl behaviour. Criticism is perceived as a personal attack. People who are perceived to have offended one's idols need to be punished or ridiculed. It is annoying, but you shouldn't take it seriously. Besides, you should judge art on its own merits, not on the merits of...

Ok, Sir Pedant, an East Asian oriental setting.

Re: Does Quest for Glory 5 Suck?
I don't like Quest for Glory 5 because it is so awfully bland. It seemed to exist to tie up loose ends. It was all sentiment and fan service, and there was nothing fresh or interesting about it. The ancient Greek setting could have been interesting, but somehow nothing stood out about it - it had no...

Re: How will you announce QFG2vga?
In order to announce QfG2 VGA I would first need to gather the following items: a tall ladder a pineapple a fishing rod, complete with spool, hook, and string a tuxedo a willing accomplice who doesn't mind heights. Then the following steps would need to be taken: 1) The ladder would be propped up ag...
