Wedding Blues

My brother's getting married next year, on 07/07/07. How's that for a wedding date? The funny thing about weddings is that you spend a couple of years preparing for it and then it's over in a couple of hours, so if your wife suddenly bursts into tears on the wedding night, don't take it personally  ...

It's interesting how farely often the first game people play becomes their favourite. I think it's the sheer challenge of playing your fist adventure game; learning to parse, learning to solve puzzles and riddles, navigating the world of the adventure game, and so on. No matter what adventure game ...

Really, I think any of the possibilites could be made enjoyable, so consider this a five-way tie, but here's my order of preference (from most to least ideal): New hero, known world Known hero, pre-QfG5 game Son of known hero New hero, new world Known hero, post-QfG5 game I'm pretty much with you e...

I found when I was playing that even though I found the right grave I had to dig a little off centre (of the section below the gravestone) to get the right spot. Spot, so now that you've found the right spot, expand your digging parimeter.

It's still Quest for GLory

I've advocated all along that we need a new QFG series with a new hero, however this does not mean it can exist in denial of the first series (as if it never happened). In some way you have to acknowledge the hero of old, and some of his adventures in order to sustain a coherent QFG mythology and wo...

If pigs could fly

Hell freezing over and pigs flying, at the very least. Anybody have any ideas on how we get hell to freeze over, anyone? Yeah that's what I thought. We could launch some pigs from a catapult at Vivendi. Anybody have a catapult? or a pig farm, anyone? I think I just bruised my IQ, you know, from dro...

What can change the nature of a man?

There are two paths you should take to try understand this, Anthropological and Philosophical. I think it comes down to personal experience; it seems that the moments of greatest internal change in my life have come through some major crisis. Crisis determines when many people move from immaturity t...

...However, were a game to come out that references KQ6, there's no doubt in my mind that the game would consider all of that happened... Case in point "The Silver Lining", and I agree with what you've said. It's pretty clear that any game in any Sierra adventure series assumes that you m...

Way to stroke my ego...

I want a " bounty hunter ", a sort of fighter/thief hybrid. The bounty hunter is interested in glory and reward; you love a challenge and will do anything if the price is right (even if the thief's guild is paying). The bounty hunter can never be a paladin since you could never understand ...

A new quest for glory

All this talk seems based on the assumption that a new quest for glory game (QFG6) would be a continuation on the old series, and that the hero would be the same hero of old. I think this would be a mistake! I want to see a new quest for glory series that incorporates parts of the old series into it...

Jontas returns from a non-abyss related dormancy

Hey everybody, what made QFG so great for me was the adventurous spirit of the game, the ambiguity of the hero, the ability to choose his identity and destiny. It was a true adventure, and seemingly nothing was predetermined. In Kings Quest for example, you have a name, identity and destiny. You're ...

Jontas is back

I'd love to see a new quest for glory series, with a new character and a fresh start. I think any references to the first hero, and any choices he made should be general and minimal, yet the legend of the old hero could play a significant role in the new hero's quest for glory. I think a new quest f...

Of course, it's not the size of your lockpick,

Even then, maintaining you paladin status limits your endevors as a thief, or am I wrong about that?

None of you know this but I'm a theology major at a Christian university, so I think I can help you out a little with where J.R.R.Tolkein and C.S.Lewis are coming from. First you should know that both Tolkein and Lewis were strong Christians and good friends, they liked to spend there spare time at ...
