Well there still is a variety of things the thief can do that no one else can do: steal the drum and rob the laibon, steal the spear and rob the leopardman chief; he's the only character that needs the fruit and meat for puzzle points; his approach to getting the venomous fruit is different, his sol...

I've actually tried this before and I think I just got bored after awhile and figured it was like the endless desert on King's Quest V.

I was never really disappointed with any of the games, except the bugs in QG4, which in the end felt like another puzzle... how do I work around this bug...?  I know a lot of people didn't really care for QG3, but I liked it, it tried a lot of new things, especially the graphics, layout, world-map, ...

I have to admit I was slow to find out about this remake, I found out about it through a random Google search a couple years ago.  Since then, I've bookmarked this site and check every other day probably, not necessarily for it's completion, but usually to see if there's an new designer journal entr...

Even if what little extra content that's in the remake wasn't intended to be in the original game to begin with, I certainly wouldn't object, as it's still within the spirit of the game.  Easter Eggs.

Speaking of Geek warring, I actually heard my Computer Science TA talk about how GIF is pronounced. As in http://www.homestarrunner.com/sbemail51.html Got a kick out of that. Strong Bad is your TA? lol I didn't even know there was a debate roaming around about how to pronounce "gif," I ju...

It really is a tough call.  If there were a number of games like QFG I don't think too many of us would still be hailing it as much as we do.  The only real games that are like QFG, well are the QFG games. There are a lot of games that fall under the- "if you like QFG, you might like...," ...

I was never a big fan of KQ3 to begin with, in it's EGA form, it was probably the only King's Quest game I stopped playing after I beat it.  Walking on the cliffs usually involved me saving and restoring half a dozen times and the spells were a pain in the rear. I did like how the remake took that b...

Have you tried the Baldurs Gate games, Neverwinter Nights, or Morrowind?  They're leaning more on the RPG side (and don't have the sense of humor QFG did) but I personally found them to be easy likes.

I can understand this, Sinister and I talked about this in another thread.  There are obviously plenty of adventure games out there with plenty of adventure hybrids, but that old Sierra feel is "gone." It just seems more popular to have darker games--a lot of the old dry humor is gone, a l...

Personally, I'd like to see the reverse of what you guys are talking about: becoming someone based on how you start out and how you play the character. Imagine that instead of choosing your character, you are presented with an image of a shadow.  You then put points into whatever you want.  If you ...

The ranger would take the combat aproach but would menuver into a safe spot to pick him off before the enemy can get to him. to solve puzzles he would use his outdoorsmen skills and maybe trapped animal companions, he would also be able to sleep outside etc but would suffer ALOT in direct combat. C...

Oh I never said the genre died out, what died out was the "classic" adventure game. All of those are great games, though I've yet to purchase my own copies. :lol I understand you know, sorry about that.  There is a certain "feel" to the older Sierra games I haven't felt in a gam...

Yes, both of you are completly right. Adventure games where just not working at that time, atleast not in the classic format. Good thing is though that Adventure games are still being made by people like AGDI and IA, and im damn proud to be a part of it. :smokin Ahhh but this not true though, there...

Re: MOE

I don't really like the idea of having a MOE remade as a QFG. We all know how a KQ should be : puzzle, riddle and headhaches  ;) I think a MOE pretending to be a KQ should at least avoid violence and combat as possible or leave it for the more dramatic moment (like in KQ6 for instance). I would eve...

Since the Paladin is basically a specialized fighter class that is rewarded to the player on importation of a character (or completion of the Paladin points quests in QFG2), I think the most logical application of new character classes into future QFG games would be to have specialized classes that...

Those character types in qfg would be awesome. And Erpy suggested the Alchemist, which if you've ever played Legend of Kyrandia II; Hand of Fate, you character Zanthia, is a Alchemist. Lost track how many puzzles are trying to make potions...  I'm not even sure if they sell that game anymore. If an...

Regardless, in the end, whatever the definition of "win" or "loss" is, I'm glad the project is continuing.  If anything, Vivendi should be happy with fan-based projects.  With the KQ1, KQ2, KQ3, and KQ9 projects as freeware--there might be an increased amount of people actually i...

The times are just changing.  The old Sierra games (with the exception of Larry) have pretty much stopped where they were, but the amount of loyalty the old fans show and they amount of work some put into webpages, forums, remakes, fan art, fan fiction, etc. is just amazing. I think King's Quest alr...

Pretty much, even D&D grouped the classes into certain areas: Warrior classes- Fighter, Ranger, Paladin... Rogue Classes- Thieves, Bards... Other classes could be done in another QFG-themed or world game, in fact, I would expect it.  However, I also couldn't see these classes being anything exce...

It's mostly an assumption, Vivendi is so anal, I can't see how IA gets away with it, especially when they used people that worked on the original Sierra games--such as Josh Mandell and Andy Hoyos; and used a number of graphics and themes from the original game. In my mind the KQIX project won.  I li...

MOE is something else completly. I look at it in the same manner that Kurdt does, it's simply a game in the same universe of kq quest.. but I fail to fully accept it as KQ8. The idea of turning MOE into a "classic" adventure game (like kq5 or kq6) is doable, without going too deeply into ...

A KQ MOE remake?  I was disappointed with the direction KQ took with that game, but I don't think there's too much wrong with it nor do I think it needs any updates.  I am looking forward to the KQIX release.
