Re: Quest for Glory I in flash

So my questions are. 1) Should I continue developing this, or will copyright infringement inevitably see this shut down? I think, if you do do it, then don't tell anyone about it until it's ready to be released. If you have the time and passion and talent to actually see a challenging project like ...

Re: New Himalaya Game: Postcards from Anozira

I just started playing and wanted to say I'm very impressed. Very polished game!! I like the animations and sound. The sound you hear when you click too much in a short time period reminds me of the sound you hear in KQ4 when Rosella falls off something but doesn't die. Have you guys ever thought ab...

Awesome, I'd love to try for one of those prizes! So happy to see that "the classics" are still remembered. P.S. - At one of the links you posted I also learned about the books "Graphic Adventures" (edited by Philipp Lenssen) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0557412072/ref=olp_pr...

Gamers Fight Back Against Violent Thugs

Would you guys have turned over your Nintendo DS to these criminals to avoid trouble, or would you have resisted?

hehe. I actually didn't think of the similarity with that when I made this name. I think I was eating peanut butter (PB) at the time, and chose random numbers.

Re: Episodic releases VS. Full releases?

Don't get me wrong, TellTale is pulling off the episodic format about as flawlesly as any company could - their process is smooth an easy to follow. But at the end of the day, I believe the above points still apply to TellTale Games, and their operation would seem more refined if they had fewer rel...

Re: Episodic releases VS. Full releases?

If there's a game I had been really looking forward to (and that's free, like TSL), I won't be able to wait until all the parts are released. I wouldn't be able to resist the urge to play it since I wouldn't want to be left out of the fun... for the big, highly anticipated games, I like to get them ...

Episodic releases VS. Full releases?

The situation with TSL got me thinking about this. From a player's standout, which is better? What do you all prefer? I don't like episodic releases AT ALL! Not unless the episodes are fairly long and each have some sort of story resolution or reward at the end of them. Is the point of adventure gam...

Re: The Silver Lining Lives!

You all have made some really great points. I'm coming to the conclusion that, in most cases, narration should be scrapped. Games (like LSL7) where the narrator is almost like a separate character with its own personality, providing a lot of the humor (and even interacting with the main character fr...

Re: The Silver Lining Lives!

I think a lot of the criticisms of the sound of her voice are coming from people who are put off by the melodramatic tone of the writing and the failed out-of-place attempts at humor but don't quite know how to (or are afraid to) vocalize that, and are looking for something to pinpoint as the probl...

Re: The Silver Lining Lives!

Yes, I agree that they shot themselves in the foot there. PO is not going to get a second chance at a first impression and all the publicity that comes with the initial rollout. here are some things similar to what I had posted on the PO forums: I have been playing the game a bit more lately, and I ...

Re: Tim Schaffer calls Activision's boss "A Total prick"

I personally don't have any problem with the look either. But I think that from a professional standpoint, and given that he is older than most in the industry, he might not want a website that reinforces the idea that he is dated or a thing of the past. Maybe he doesn't plan any kind of future in g...

Re: The Silver Lining Lives!

I was thinking more in terms of TSL reinforcing or perpetuating negative stereotypes (stale, stagnant, slow, unexciting) about KQ or adventure gaming in general. I've read several accounts of people who felt games like KQ5 (which had awesome graphics for its time and still awesome music and atmosph...

Re: Tim Schaffer calls Activision's boss "A Total prick"

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! I remember being pretty thrilled when I read about Al's "comeback" several years ago. Talk about adding insult to injury! First LSL: MCL excludes him (and wasn't a great game), then Sam Suede was cancelled, then LSL:BoB was one of the worst games of all time, and now this! ...

Re: The Silver Lining Lives!

If I understood correctly, the Mask of Eternity was to play a fair role in the original story, so the game was definitely acknowledged although most of that got cut when the story was compressed for the episodic release. (this originally surprised me, since their forum filters didn't even allow you...

Re: Tim Schaffer calls Activision's boss "A Total prick"

Where did Al Lowe say this? I haven't read any new interviews with him for a while. I always wished he would one day design another game. He is one of my favorite designers. I think Tim Schafer is brilliant and one of the best game designers of all time, by the way. It sounds like he regrets the fac...

... I mean seriously, they're constantly billing themselves as the official last word on the King's Quest series and that really bothers a lot of people, I think, particularly if those people aren't 100% convinced that what they're being presented is a worthy successor to the series. Yes, that's ex...

Re: The Silver Lining Lives!

Yeah, I agree. I feel like I have to give the TSL composer a lot of credit, though, because I think it's the music (along with the cinematic camera angles in the cutscenes) that is almost entirely responsible for whatever drama or excitement I feel while playing the short Episode 1. Having said that...

Re: The Silver Lining Lives!

I have since taken a little closer look at Episode 1, and, while I think there is a lot to like, there are some things that also disappoint me. First, what I like: the music and sound effects! The music puts me in a contemplative mood, and I think much of the game's atmosphere is owed to this effect...

Re: Good times for adventure games

Plus soon to come releases like TSL episodes, grey matter and BTTF episodes their is a quite a bit of adventure game goodness around! Are the BTTF games going to be "adventure" games? I'm still unclear about that. (sidenote: that movie has one of the best movie themes ever! It screams fun...
