That's the nature of firs, Ram. :lol

I see what you're saying, though. And even though the trees look pretty damn uniform in reality, some artistic license may be warranted.

It does. But that manuscript is as for from English as it is from Dutch or German. At least, I THINK I learned that in school (if it is, then at least I learned something). But I could be mistaken. I'm not in the mood to dig into it right now. ;) Ah, I see what you're saying. Yeah, going that far b...

I did not know that the text was extant in anything but Anglo-Saxon. I thought the story was only known to us through one surviving manuscript.

Spikey, could you elaborate on what you mean?

There's a Sandman story that has Baba Yaga -- chicken-legged hut, flying pestle and all. It's called "The Hunt' and is in the Fables and Reflections collections. Well worth seeking out.

The folklore in QFG1 is mostly Germanic, so "Western European" sits a bit oddly. Although the Hungarian and Romanian peoples of Transylvania are not Slavic in origin, they've been under heavy Slav influence for a thousand years or more, and there are Slavic groups living in the area. So it...

To me, the wall looks sort of like it's been modeled in a 3D program as a bitmap on a flat surface, and then captured from an angle. So although the texture is bumpy, it somehow looks perfectly flat. That's what I find disconcerting about it.

They certainly look authentically Finnish. Which is cool: there aren't enough games with a strong sense of location. Yeah, they are amazing. Possible improvements... The wall in the second picture looks perhaps a bit too perfectly straight, flat and sharp. And I don't quite believe the way it meets ...

Yes. Yes, I do. (Guess my secret is out.) And thanks for not talking about TLJ as a Finnish game, which I'm getting right sick and tired of hearing.

Seriously. Try typing some of the phrases in the poem into Google. You might find out where they're from. Or look up some of the books/stories to see what they're about.

Several of them are well worth reading anyway. :)

You can get far with some Google searches, a few educated guesses, and a bit of trial and error.

We've read your question. Moving it to its own post isn't going to make us want to answer it any more!

And by the way, KQ2VGA hasn't got a remake. It is a remake.

Direct manipulation of the character coordinates by accessing the fields. Wicked. :hat

Thanks Erpy, I'll try that out!

I'm just getting into AGS, and the script samples on this thread are really interesting. Thanks, Erpy and Tim! Actually, maybe I can ask my own question: I want to have a character jumping in a somewhat realistic fashion (moving fast up, then more and more slowly, then stationary for a moment, and t...

Dude, are you aware of this? Or this? Or this? Or this? Or these (which are mostly identical in terms of puzzles)?

You know, it's great that you want to help, but your energies are better spent elsewhere.

It seems like a bit of a leap to assume they've abandoned their game just because the webpage is down for a week or two. Probably they're just having server or ISP trouble. At worst, their webmaster has left the project.

I'm willing to bet on it. :smokin

You raise a very interesting point Snarky. I've chosen a fairly unique, though not particularly nice-looking avatar, but I'm not really concerned with the hoi polloi associating it with my face (just certain Flemish cryptographers). :D I don't suppose I've chosen the most attractive avatar myself, ...

The funny thing is, I think Erpy kind of does look like his avatar. :p I think it's quite common for others to think of you as your avatar, the same way they might call you by your nick. Since humans are pretty superficial, it's probably a good idea to choose a nice-looking image to represent yourse...

I recently played through the game again using the walkthrough, and I ended up 5 points shy of the max score. I skipped the puzzle and arcade sequences in the Sharkee kingdom, and chose "The Madness of King Graham". Could that be the reason?
