Re: Possibility of KQ5, KQ6, & KQ7 Remake?

So, if one could, how would they remove the dead ends from KQ5? What are the major ones? Well, the big one is, of course, not saving Cedric. As I've said before, I think that should stay. Beyond that (and this may not be a comprehensive list), there's letting the cat kill the mouse, not getting the...

Concerning the ending

I have a question about the ending sequence, specifically the scenes with the so-called "magic green pinball." This is one of those things that could either be deliberate or a coincidence, so I have to ask...were you guys trying to invoke the Classical Elements with the four "cure&quo...

Don't get me wrong, MI. I'm fine with your personal opinion. It's when people take it to the point where the mere presence of a simple option is detrimental to the game/industry/fanbase as a whole that I get annoyed.

Re: Possibility of KQ5, KQ6, & KQ7 Remake?

But I even detest the "Retry" button. See, that right there can be part of the problem. All too often I hear the hardcore vs. casual complaint. I'm reminded of the people who claimed Mega Man 10 was utterly worthless before it even came out simply because of the inclusion of an Easy Mode....

Re: Possibility of KQ5, KQ6, & KQ7 Remake?

Well, some lengthy dead ends can make sense. I personally think the dead end from leaving Cedric on the harpies' island is appropriate as a form of player punishment for acting so out of (Graham's) character. Quick dead-ends like not getting the orium in Space Quest II are also fine simply because t...

Re: What I missed to achieve Perfect Score?

1. Medusa (Q&A or Mirror) You do get more points for "saving" Smaude rather than just petrifying her. 2. Eagle (Meat or Fish) You have to feed the eagle to get through the game. However, there are two food sources (as you mentioned) and you get a single point for acquiring each item (...

Re: Future Remake: Part Deux

You know, I think I'd put Camelot as my fourth choice (the demakes drop to fifth and sixth). It is an EGA game, after all, and deserving of a visual upgrade (though perhaps not as much as even older games like Gold Rush). It also suffers from the same shoddy points coding as other games (indeed, eve...

Both are a single point. If you're still short one point after getting all of the food items and both types of fur, you've probably run afoul of a glitch.

Re: Missing a point 209/210 [SPOILER]

I just finished testing this myself. It's true; you don't get the point if you can understand the cat (which is really lame since it's how you get the line from the original game). This explains a few people who've contacted me missing a point in the score and they claim they've done everything.

Re: Music spell assistance

I'm not saying it's a rampant design flaw, I'm saying I personally feel it's an excessive penalty. When I'm right-clicking, it's quite easy to accidentally over- or under-click and accidentally get the wrong icon. It's happened to me several times and it gets really old really quickly. I'm not sayin...

I don't think anyone can get a lower score (and not just because you got the Underachiever Award). Skipping 39 points is the lowest possible score I could determine from my point list; you've proven my math is valid (presuming Underachiever only triggers for the minimum possible score).

Again, though, when have you ever used the hand icon to "pick up" an item already in your inventory in a past Sierra game? Off the top of my head...every VGA Quest for Glory game and The Castle/Island of Dr. Brain. I just think that, in this specific case, the punishment is excessive, esp...

Cupful of nightshade juice for the sleep spell. After that I noticed that the measuring bit worked by itself and I didn't need to worry about those details. What Martijn said. If it must pop up something (and you've got the time to write a fair bit of stuff & have John Bell record a few dozen new lines), just describe how the object feels without killing the player. Or even just add a warning message that basically tells the player you're not doing ...

Perhaps you're accidentally using the hand cursor on the sand instead of the arrow cursor? If you did that, you'd die as soon as you clicked the sand. You know, that's probably the most frustrating thing in the Redux spell system. I kinda think accidentally using the hand icon should be one of the ...
