Re: AGDI gains an AGS Award for Quest for Glory 2 VGA

To me, and not wanting to reignite the argument here but I just read this thread, but the AGS awards (and the AGS community in general) always lean towards games that are art, not popular games. It's the same thing with the Oscars, look at 2000 best movie - A Beautiful Mind. A great movie no doubt, ...

Agree with AGD2. I didn't realise that about the WASD either. Coolness.

Non-Competition clauses tend to expire after a number of years. Surely he wouldn't have signed his entire life away.

Re: Tales of Monkey Island Series!

There was a twitter post about an MI:2 remake a week or so ago. I still await official confirmation.

I love MI. Tales of Monkey Island 1 has halted progress on bug fixing in SQ2 by a few days.

Re: Where is everyone

That was harsher sounding than I meant it to be! Oh well, the curse of forums I suppose. It wasn't directed at anyone in particular, just the general type of people we've all seen come and go over the years. The ones who bitch and moan about, well everything, and don't actually contribute to, well a...

Re: Where is everyone

Well, some people are just sanctimonious assholes. I wouldn't worry about it. Although as an 11 year old, you probably would have. As BT said, you actually contributed to a game, something a LOT of people, even those who post here, can't say they've ever done. So you're actually in the top percentag...

Re: Bringing The Classics Sierra Games To Consoles

The problem is that Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle and Fate of Atlantis still beat most of the games released today, while 80% of the earlier Sierra Games can't even compete with games released fifteen years ago. It's one thing being able to play these old games, and other pretending people to ...

Re: Where is everyone

There's only about a dozen people who post on both forums. I personally find I just don't have the time to post everywhere I used to, that's why I don't drop around here too much. In my opinion AGDI / Tierra have always been more frequented forums, they tend to have a much more inclusive policy than...

Re: game suggestion form old serria game like Conquests series

If you were to hazard a guess Erpy, how many man hours went into making, say, kq2? I think it'd give people a better idea of the effort that's required to remake a game.

Hmmm, I might try and work out IA's SQ2 man hours. Might scare the shit out of me.

Re: Part of the problem for adventure games

I bought A Vampyre Story about a month ago, I don't really purchase many games to be honest. I've already got planned purchases for Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 though on their release.

I'm sorry, didn't Australia bitchslap the kiwi's a week ago? I may be wrong, (I'm not btw because I was at the game), but I recall the Kiwi's lying on the field crying like little girls. Before the game. :lol

Re: Dungeons and Dragons

There is a need in life to bitch slap anyone who quotes too much of anything. Monty Python, The Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurama. Anything quoted constantly is annoying. This isn't a nerd rule though, just an observation.

Re: Dungeons and Dragons

I was using a bit of poetic license with the rules there. We don't actually have a hard and fast set of rules like that. What we did have was a basic standard that you needed to have a life outside of D&D to play with us. We found that, because we played in a commercial environment (a games shop...

Re: Dungeons and Dragons

I don't play anymore, but I've discovered over the years that although I like the game, I like the concept of the game more. I love how deeply designed a world can be, how there are rules to govern every single thing happening. What I don't like is 90% of the people who play the game. We used to hav...

Re: Future Version of QFG2VGA (speech maybe)?

Did you have any discussions about doing a speech pack? A problem I thought of was how to deal with the unique player character name? I don't recall how this was dealt with in the classic games though.

Out of curiosity, have you scripted in the speech code to the lines? I personally can't blame you not wanting to do a speech pack for QFG2. What a mammoth task that would be.

Re: QFG6 Anyone?

The thing to keep in mind is that Hero6 isn't a continuation of the QFG series. It's just inspired by it. So to say it gives the QFG series a bad name or whatever is not just a bit harsh, it's really just irrelevant. It's like saying the Toyota Hilux gives the Ford Barina a bad name. Similar because...
