I somehow prefer Quest For Glory. The "Something Quest" title is simply overused and getting kinda cliche. IMO, Hero's Quest is to Quest For Glory what Larry's Quest is to Leisure Suit Larry.

It is really a remake in the same sense as the FM-Towns or CD versions of the early LucasArts games: Not advertised as a remake, same interface, same background layout, same sprites, 240 additionnal colors and better soundtrack. If the LucasArts games found their way on the list, I don't see why thi...

Here you go, screenshots of Gobliiins, both in 16 colors and 256 colors for comparison. It is not 16 colors in the sense of the EGA default's 16 colors we've seen in the old Sierra games, but careless of what colors were chosen, each screens don't have more than 16 colors on each of them. The CD ver...

Nothing is all black or all white. I agree with you on several points about piracy, Billetwound, abandonware and emulation should be avoided, and if done, it should be by respecting the will of the copyright owners. However, in some cases, it's because of those big evil abandonware pirate meanies th...

Several SCUMMVM fans offer to download several SCUMM games in their various version (floppy, CD, FM-Towns, demo), with box scans and manuals, for comparison and archiving reasons. I'm sure if you search thoroughly you will find it somewhere on the internet. Don't seriously expect to find this game o...

Actually, I'm fairly positive that Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was released in VGA, and that running it in EGA depended on your system, same as The Secret of Monkey Island.  If there were EGA versions, they may have been released simultaneously, but I remember when those games first came out...

Zak McKracken, Indy and the Last Crusade, Loom and Monkey Island 1 were first released in 16 colors before being remade in VGA by LucasArts. As for the SQ3VGA remake, the http://sq3vga.by.ru/news.htm project is indeed defunct. This is what I had and currently doing with Fanventures. I'm hoping it wi...

But changing the hero's clothes after the Djinni teleports him back to Raseir, wouldn't make much logical sense -- he's supposed to be rushing in order to prevent the end of the world from occuring. So there would be no time or reason for him to change clothes (particulary into his European-style l...

Well, except for his shirt's neckhole which is larger in SQ4 and show his purple shirt under a little bit more, his clothes in SQ1VGA and SQ4 are exactly the same. Same gray clothes, black boots, belt, same purple sleeves, even the badge is there. And there's always room between SQ3 and SQ4 where he...

Regarding the demo idea, isn't the game so close to beta release that a demo would simply take much longer to be produced than the beta? And a polished demo would be much longer to release than the game itself? A good example is that SQ2 joke demo IA released a few weeks ago. Some people actually co...

You are asking a lot. :)

Puzzles,
RPG element,
Leveling up by your actions,
Non-linearity,

I guess the only game like QFG is QFG. Hopefully there is Hero6, QFI and QFG2VGA in progress.

Have Alex steer the ship??  :lol Adding story and puzzles on the path to Daventry would be greatly welcomed. It's not like that...

Well, even KQ1VGA is bland when it's compared to KQ2VGA+. And I bet both of these and a lot of Sierra games will look bland when QFG2VGA will be released. Personally, my few problems with KQ3VGA were related to the original game rather than the remake itself. There were too much elements from the or...

Isn't Oblivion similar then? From what I heard you get better by repeatedly doing an action. The more you jump, the better you get at it. In fact, people playing Assassins mostly spend their time hopping in the field and picking flowers, increasing their acrobatics and poison making skills. No kiddi...

Console gamers use the term "adventure games" in a diffrent way, zelda is considered an adventure game in console circles. I see games like Zelda, Metal Gear, Castlevania, Resident Evil and Metroid more like action-adventure myself, as action count for a significant part of the gameplay, ...

Piotyr, I was talking about the broad sense of the genre. Adventure games arent just "particular" formulaic creations with certain amounts of traditional gameplay to be recognized as such. FF fantasy has adventure game elements, why?.. Because that genre is so ample its hard to negate tha...

Well, either this detail is noted in the imported character file, either you ask 2 question to confirm this detail at the begining. Like when you were asked to confirm your character class in case the character import file was wrong. But I don't think any of this should be really important as both o...

There are so many creative and inspired fans, more as AGDI and AI release more remakes, it wouldn't surprise me if one of those day someone decided to make a VGA remake of MOE or QFG5. To see how it would have been with the old engine. :) I think combats would have been a lot different. With the old...

Yes. A past enemy attacks Silmaria teleports the hero far away from home and he must then begin a long journey back to Silmaria, spanding over several years and across several troubled lands until he get the chance to see Silmaria again. This way you get the perfect excuse to get the Hero back into ...

Maybe, but if Sierra wasn't sold to anyone, and disbanded in case of lack of funds, that would have meant Mark, Scott and Josh would have kept an hand on their Space Quest franchize. Al to keep Leisure Suit Larry, Jane Jensen to keep Gabriel Knight and the Coles to keep Quest for Glory. This would h...

As for the stuttering problem, I usually have my CPU cycles on 17500 and Frameskip on 0. If your Frameskip is on anything higher than 0 that's probably what's causing the stutter (at least in my experience it is). In my experience, the ideal CPU cycles vary from one computer to another. It depend o...

According to the last news entry, the game is only in alpha stage. It would be very unlikely that it pass from alpha, to beta, to final version in less than 2 days. :p But I'm confident 2007 will be the year. Al Emmo is done, AGDI will surely spend some times thinking about their next project but mo...
