Re: ** The NEW AGDI REDESIGN/QFG2 LAUNCH thread **

Eric, one suggestion for the new website: please include a button or toggle to mute the music. I often "check in" on AGDI at work, and while I love the QFG2 music, my coworkers (and boss) do not. Otherwise, I'm really enjoying the redesign!

Heh, I'd prefer to leave details of the game a surprise for now. People here on the forums have wondered how certain inconsistencies in spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc. will be handed in the remake, and I meant that I could answer questions of that nature. Also note that I haven't actually playe...

Well, I just completed my edit of the game's script...for the record (and remember that this is an almost 20-year-old video game), QFG2VGA's script is longer than most long novels. I worked closely with Erpy during the edit, and as a long-time QFG player (and all-around Sierra fan), I'm very confide...

Besides... isn't US-english based on the assumption that rules for a language is a waste of time? In other words, the US threw rules out the door? In that case it doesn't really matter to US-players.... As a professional editor, I can (and do) assure you that there are many, many rules for U.S. Eng...

Oh, I understand what it is. I also know that AGDI has been working very hard to make the VGA version of QFG2 fit in with the rest of the games. I'm just wondering why the decision was made to have combat in this game differ from that in the other games. Do understand that I'm not complaining; I'm j...

Ah, that's an interesting feature that I had somehow missed reading about. Any particular reason that combat was moved to be like that? Only QFG5 had combat that exactly matched the room it was in (and then only because combat was real-time).

This remake features many things that the original QFG2 doesn't (actual night fading, and a fully integrated combat system, for example) so it has the potential to be a longer beta testing process than any of our previous games. Thanks for the update. I hate to de-rail this thread, but what exactly...

Hey, if you speak with the Coles again, ask them about this first-person sci-fi RPG. Obviously it was never made, but in their letter to me it sounded like they had it largely thought-out already. Perhaps they can pass along design ideas/documents to AGDI.

I don't have any others, sorry. The first letter is pretty bland, but the second and third not only contain a lot of personal attention, but that reference to the first-person sci-fi RPG is interesting...anyone know anything more about the game? Obviously it never happened...

Letters from the Coles

Well, I tend to lurk here looking for news on QFG2VGA, but I thought I'd actually post something for once. Recently I went through a bunch of old boxes and found a number of letters from Lori Ann and Corey Cole. I had written to them back when QFG2 first came out, and they actually sent personal res...

Why do you people insist on believing that because the designer journals on updated frequently, that the game isn't being worked on? I never said that. Please, I've been *very* positive in my posts. I've never even criticized; I've simply expressed an eagerness for more news. I think that most of t...

I used to post news updates almost daily...and at that time, we were told that updating the designer journals frequently was the "uncool" thing to do ;) Well, that's just silly of those people. Seriously, though...post a few outstanding bugs a week...I know that would make me happy! (That...

I don't think this the type of boring stuff people would really want to see cluttering the designer journal pages! But see, that's exactly what I enjoy reading about. I completely understand about not posting "release" dates, but coming to the AGDI website a few times each week and seeing...

totally agree. Syberia, along with most of the releases today, aren't as much inventory and classic-puzzle type games. That's probably true. Syberia 1 and 2 were more of the heavy thinking puzzles adventure games, kind of like a Myst title (though firmly in the adventure genre). The Longest Journey...

Thanks for the input Angelus (and Musically) but why are they must have adventure games? What exactly makes them so great? What did YOU love about them so much? Out of curiosity, has anyone played The Longest Journey or Syberia? I have a few games in-progress & on deck to finish (BG2, Grim Fandango, Full Throttle, etc), but was curious which one you all thought might be a better experience once I get to a new adventure game.... I've played both The Lon...

Yes, I understand that. I was just suggesting that a simple "we're working on another project right now" post on the QFG2VGA news page might placate people. I think that most of the complaints here aren't that Al Emmo is being completed first; I think it's the lack of new updates. Perhaps ...

I thought I'd step in here before blows are exchanged. I've been following the QFG2VGA project since it was first announced, and (like most people here) I consider myself to be its biggest fan. That said, like many other people here, I ache for updates. At the same time, I recognize and respect the ...
