Any idea of how many game days it takes? Good question. Any idea any one? EDIT: btw: How many screens wide is the gap in the mountains? Also wouldn't it be possible to teleport there using the game's debug mode? If only I knew how to start the debug mode... EDIT: Never mind, I just got to Rasier. F...

Any idea how far left you would need to go? I have tried with the character running at high speed for minutes on end... No gap in the mountains. They just go on and on....

I think a game will usually always have a few bugs here and there. Try adjusting the settings or simply try to do what you did before again, perhaps the game won't bomb out on you then. Any way, are these NRS patches for free, and if so can you legally download them somewhere? If the answer is yes, ...

A few questions about sound drivers and other things.

For most of my SCI games by Sierra I've managed to find updated sound drivers and patches, I've even managed to find a program that updates AGI games to play general midi but, I haven't found any driver that will play audio for Leisure Suit Larry 1 VGA or King's Quest V. :cry Does any one know where...

You mean there actually is a shot with the hero's eyes popping out of their sockets in Quest for Glory III?  :rollin How do you get to see that shot while playing the game? I thought that both pictures at the bottom of your messages were doctored. Considering the type of the humor in those pictures,...

Your image tag is broken, Boogyman. Wasn't the fight with wolf and Graham pictured in a fightcloud in KQ1VGA? I really liked the cartoony humor in KQ1EGA (the remake.) BTW: Those pictures that appear at the bottom of most of your messages are quite funny, Boogeyman. (Oh, yes this topic was already 2...

Owning a dog is like owning a child. OWNING a child? Also, although there are similarities to children a dog is NOT a human being although some dog owners seem to forget that... BTW: I always am telling our dog and cat how much I like them as well, they seem to enjoy that a lot, especially our cat.

computers. I never managed to get the sound in a SCI0 games to work on my Pentium III 600mhz  with a Yamaha DS-XG Legacy Sound System soundcard until I found the soundcard drivers on this  website: http://www.rarefied.org/sci/drivers.html . I think there are also a few drivers for newer SCI versions...

I usually play as a thief, but I usually try to use a bit of as many skills as the game will allow. In Quest for Glory I I can use a bit of every skill as a thief except the parry skill.

Okay, now I see. But, as far as I know and as pointed out in the post above a (second hand) computer that can run AGS games in Windows shouldn't be that expensive. My Pentium III 600mhz whichs runs the games fine probably isn't worth one bit any more.

The worst version of Windows I ever used was Windows 3.0 (1990) in my opinion. It came with my parents' 80386 which they bought in 1991.  :x

Although I think it's interesting to see how newer software behaves on older systems/operating systems I don't see why you are making such a big deal about whether QFG2VGA would or wouldn't run under MS-DOS unless you don't have a fairly up to date computer or you don't have computer running Windows...

Glad to be of help. But don't forget that not all games will work without problems. Kings Quest 7 for example, is a SCI 2 game that works fine on newer computers except for a nasty timer related bug. Usually a division by zero error message happens if the computer is too fast. I think this happens with nearly all SCI 2 games when you try to perform some test in the Windows Setup. Just try skipping all tests and simply install the game, it should work fine but I can't promise anything.

Most games using the AGI engine should work on newer computers running Windows XP without problems. I have noticed however that some video drivers for XP don't seem to support the EGA/CGA graphics any more. Most games using the SCI 0 engine should also work except that they might have same problems ...

You have to remember that the games are designed to run on today's systems, not older systems. We have a lot of reports that get solved when people upgrade to the latest DirectX drivers, etc. I shudder to think what kind of error you'd get if you were trying to run the games on a system that old. I...

On my old computer i mean really old. I could never get any sierra games to work well with my sounblaster 16 That's odd, I know of several older SCI games from Sierra that seem to have trouble working with a Sound Blaster Pro but work fine with a Sound Blaster 16 card.
