Re:  Random rants go here.

Finally someone else who actually used a Color Computer back in the day! For so long I thought I was the only one! Everyone had their Commodore 64's and Amigas. Yes! Did you ever have a subscription to Rainbow magazine? I remember typing in pages of line basic to play (what looked like) a really ne...

Re:  Random rants go here.

We went from a Radio Shack Color Computer (1982-1989) to the Packard Bell (1989). While in college (1993/1994), I bought a no-name 486DX2\66 from the back of the Computer Shopper magazine. I often wonder how many forests were levelled to make that catalog, because back then, it was about the size of...

I just tested it on my IBM Aptiva 486 (my machine dedicated to 'old skool' games).

Re:  Random rants go here.

Checked some official Sierra 3½" HD floppies (King's Quest V, 1990), and they are indeed ~20 grams apiece: Eight diskettes weighed 159.94 grams, so each diskette weighs 19.993 grams. [Our current Staples brand diskettes at work weigh ~14.66 grams apiece as a comparison.] So, the weight calculat...

Re:  Random rants go here.

i remember all my sierra disks being 1.44megs, so that would be one HUGE box to take out of the store. They'd need a fork lift and you'd need a moving truck to get it home, and then by the time you got it installed, they would have changed the name of the game to King's Quest XXXXVIII: Where did my...

Re: Episodic releases VS. Full releases?

The exception is Half life where they release episodes 1 and 2 a year apart and then never have any interest in doing episode 3 It seems like I read somewhere that as soon as Epsiode 1 was done, the Episode 1 team was to start working on Episode 3, almost concurrently with the Episode 2 team. Now, ...

Hey guys, first time poster here. First of all, I love all of your games! I have played both Kings Quest games countless times, and have just started Trial by Fire. These are awesome games! However, how come in King's quest 1, there were pictures for every type of death, in King's Quest 2, you only...

For a little while in the 1990's I had Sound Blaster AWE32, and the Sierra games that supported General MIDI sounded awesome with it... and I expect the SC-55 generated music will be at least as good or better than what my AWE32 produced. In particular, I remember Dagger of Amon Ra music sounds GRE...

Re: Buying Roland MT32 Sound Module

I really don't see the point in "reserve price" auctions. Why do people do it? I believe it's used to to guarantee a minimum price for the object up for auction. Usually, the Reserve price is unknown to the Bidders until the bid prices go over the Reserve price ("reserve met" or...

Here's another hint. Perhaps I'll do regular bi-weekly hints or something. The game title starts with a " K " and ends with an " X " (which is not a roman numeral). OK: Taking a cue from Valve's highly successful "Orange Box", the mysterious, as-yet-unnamed game compan...

As someone accurately brought up in the comments section of the video link, Due to inflation over the last 25 years, $700K in 1984 dollars is only about $1.4 million in 2008 dollars. I suppose it's possible that the $700K is an accurate number... Try the Westegg inflation calculator (based on the Co...
