Re: FFXIII
WoW is done so that you can be as involved as you want with the story. I've done the Dragonblight stuff and seen the cutscenes but it didn't add much to the game for me. I'm all about endgame raids and achievements. Exactly -- you can play WoW for the lore and the story if you want. Or you can play...

Re: FFXIII
I've been playing WoW since launch, this is the first I'm hearing of a story. Do you actually read the quests or just do the objective? :P And the story's get more involved as you go on. In WotLK there's even a whole phased area in Dragonblight -- during one of the quests, it basically gets all lit...

Re: Experience Points
Actually I should mention that, at least for QFG 1 VGA, there was a use for Experience Points. The emergence of trolls at night along with cheetaurs and saurus rexs in the day time was triggered when you had experience over a certain level. This was a major discovery for me since I normally wanted ...

Re: FFXIII
Well, in WoW for instance, there's several linear stories. You can follow one storyline, you can stop and pick up another one, or you can follow none, or all... but there's storylines all the way through and there's tons of them. I think in an online game you can DO the linear storyline, but you can...

Re: Combat is *way* too hard
The first time I played, I played as a thief. I sold my silver daggers. I had no problems fighting at all with the co-pilot on, I whooped most everything (once I'd trained with Uhura a whole bunch to get my mad skillz going on!) The only time I've died in combat is when the scorpion grabbed me and p...

Re: The Silver Lining Cease and Desist
EDIT: Well, Josh Mandel was involved with the TSL team a long time ago, but there was a falling out between him and the team and he left. (that's why they weren't using his voice for King Graham in that game) Details are unclear. I know the situation between them got nasty at one point on the Adven...

Re: The Silver Lining Cease and Desist
I just read that the developers of Call of Duty have sued Activision-Blizzard for firing them just before the sales of the latest title, so that they don't have to pay them the royalties they deserve. :evil If that's true, that is low. It's terrible when the ones you're working for screw you like t...

Re: The Silver Lining Cease and Desist
Another thing to point out: Activision didn't actually ask them to shut down all the forums; they just asked all TSL related material be removed. POS chose to shut everything down because filtering out all the TSL related material while leaving everything else would have been a gargantuan and horri...

Re: The Silver Lining Cease and Desist
@crayauchtin: I think you're splitting hairs here--perhaps Brainiac misspoke when he used the term trademark, but you said it yourself that TSL is violating copyright law with their use of the characters, names, world, and backstory of the King's Quest universe. I think what Brainiac is trying to s...

Woo-hoo! Debate time! YAY! Ok, I'm not really debating, I'm just correcting something.... I'll close with this one last thought. You cannot copyright an idea. You can only copyright an implementation. A person can copyright a schematic for a toaster. A person cannot copyright the idea for a toaster...

Re: alleyway mode
Well, once you have the map you can buy from Alichica there's not a lot of reason to wander aimlessly in the streets especially as you can get directions to most places that are in the streets. The simpler mode just takes some of the detail out of the city, it doesn't actually remove anything from t...

Re: Quest for Glory V de-make?
As much as I'd love the idea of QfGV being done in VGA without the one click does all thing (heck, I'd love a remake of KQ7 for the same reason :P) there'd be so much to do and it wouldn't be worth it. I agree the older games like KQ4 should be redone, but I also really want to see some new games ou...

Re: Katta in the Alleys!
Just because there's pages on other Wikis doesn't mean that it wasn't helpful to put it on the QfG Omnipedia. There's a lot of overlap on Wikia, I've noticed, in many categories. That's not a bad thing, it sort of makes the information even more readily accessible. But, uhm, yeah definitely the QfG ...

I used to have a PS3 but I stupidly, stupidly let me ex keep it because I didn't have a TV that it would work on when we broke up. It's possibly the biggest regret in my life. :P

This is actually my second post, but I figure a slight introduction should be included before I get to my question.... Hi ya'll! Re: Playing through all 5 on a Mac now, any compatibility hints?
I have a Mac (with Snow Leopard no less!) and I've just discovered that Dosbox made a frontend for Macs -- I can't get the original QfG2 to run (because I'm an idiot technologically speaking, not because it doesn't work -- I'm sure there's a way!) but all of the original VGA games run. As far as 5 g...
