Technically yes. In repeatedly_execute_always, check which region the character is over. HOWEVER you cannot abort the blocking function like that, so instead of a blocking walk, you'd be better off doing something like MoveCharacter (someone, someposition); while (character[someone].walking) {  Wait...

Ooh, it would be totally cool if we would put a small company together (legally speaking) and then licensed the Monkey Island rights from Lucasarts in exchange for, say, 75% of the profits.

And then make a freeware game.

It doesn't - it's visual only. That's the crux. But it has its use in cutscenes. I'd try googling AGI studio if I were you. Oh, and KQ3 was made in AGIv2, but you're just arbitrarily sticking to that standard anyway, because you're not distributing your game on 360kb disks either ;)

PaladinLover -> you make a number of good points, however what you say mainly applies to fantasy computer games, and not to good fantasy books (as opposed to pulp :) ). For instance, Robin Hobb's works (Lifeship Trader cycle, in particular) deals extensively with the miseries of slavery. I do agree ...

For the record, AGIv3 supports 16-color GIF files. That would make drawing a lot easier (and increase disk size somewhat but who cares about that these days :) ). Used in Gold Rush (among others, probably) - some of the PIC resources are GIFs.

It might also be in the way you talk. I know I've had my accent mistaken for anything from Polish to Coxney and from New Yorkish to French.

While it's true that no system is error-free, Microsoft's is the only one that has bugs and mistakes deliberately left in, so that people are forced to buy the upgrade.

What I don't understand, is that if LucasArts officially state they not want to make adventure games any more, why are they cease-n-desisting fangames?

It should be bug-free, secure, and not tending towards data fascism. Also being open-source would be nice.

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world.
The unreasonable man, despite all the odds, persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

My votes would go to KQ6, SQ5, PQ2, LL2 and, yes, QfG3. Can't comment on GK since I haven't played it. But I don't think there's consensus on any of them, for every game that is considered the best by some tends to be considered the worst by others. Except maybe KQ6. Come to think of it, I've never ...

PHP may come in handy, as PHP is a variation on the old language C, and AGS is also a variation on C. So the two are alike.

If you're not (yet) into making adventure games but simply into learning a lot of programming tricks, might I recommend planet-source-code.com
