Re: The Trouble with Throwing Daggers

Its tough to go all the way to the top of the screen, back down and find the enemy again. - but i think you still need to aim and go for it. Just start moving in one direction and use the right mouse button to change to the dagger cursor, you can move through screen after screen without changing yo...

Re: The Trouble with Throwing Daggers

Instead of looking at it solely from the backstab angle, consider it from the point of view of the Fighter without stealth and the Thief who's running away from a charging foe. In these instances, it's impossible to peg an enemy with a dagger unless you go into the menu, turn the speed alllllllllll...

Re: one small request...

I just checked the game with SCI Studio VGA and room 140 is the character creation screen of all things. The room you're in is room 830, which would be inside the resource.000 file I'm pretty sure. I packed all the problematic files but I imagine it's really just the .000 file you need to replace. N...

Re: one small request...

Get QuickSFV: http://www.quicksfv.org/download.html

Then put this file in your game directory and double click it, it should check all files (109 game files) for errors.

I could play past the room but that room is also where the finale happens, so you'd miss that too.

Re: How do I "tell" people things, not "ask" them??!!

Yeah, you'd miss out on quite a few points & honor on the fighter/paladin and thief routes, but now that I think of it, the mage route is probably the only one that absolutely requires it. QFG4, on the other hand, absolutely requires the use of that system, as you can't do the bit with Toby and ...

Re: one small request...

You playing the English or German version? Edit: I see it's the German version. I got through the door and saved. I couldn't save immediately, but the gist of it is that you saw Reekasha, Rakeesh's daughter, and she just got possessed by a demon who taunts you with something to the effect of "A...

Re: **** ! ! ! **** Blue Frog Mode unlocked. **** ! ! ! ****

Reading through this thread I think you need to literally suck the blue frog using the bellows. The problem is, on every savegame I tried when I had my bellows filled with the air elemental and ran back to the oasis, the blue frog never appeared again no matter how often I entered the screen. So I ...

Re: How do I "tell" people things, not "ask" them??!!

I finished QfG3 with all three clases without knowing I could do that (which is the reason I didn't became a paladin in that game), by the way. It's not that apparent. Pretty sure that's not possible. At the very minimum, you need to do it on the mage route to convince Johari to take you to the leo...

Re: one small request...

Hmm you need to include glorysg.dir as well.

I tried restoring that file (by renaming it to one of my savegames) and it failed to load, said a sound was missing. You using the anthology version? My version is fully patched so not sure it's identical to yours.

Re: The Trouble with Throwing Daggers

Am I the only one that looses daggers when they don't make contact, even after searching the corpse and retrieving ones that do? It has seemed pretty harsh to me, as they're pricey, and if I recall in other QFG games, every dagger thrown on a screen is recuperated normally when you search a corpse ...

Re: Please make easy combat patch !!!

Really? I personally never saw combat in the series as a necessary evil. To me, it was as much part of the games as dialogue trees, repeating an action 50 times in order to raise a stat and corny puns were. I welcomed the change when QFG1VGA added made battle not be just about stats, but also about...

Re: What was QfG5 like, anyway?

Graphics and voiceacting are good in my humble opinion, but I know that most people think otherwise. Sure, they're not outstanding, but I thought it was a nice attempt of forwarding the graphics into a new era of QfG / point & click. GK3 was another such attempt I thought brave and good. Evolut...

Re: Autosave???

The thing I would really like would be a higher number of save game slots . . . my initial plan was to save at least once a day for each play though. Now I am done with all three character types - have once a day for my fighter, only about 6 saves for my mage, and 4 for my thief - but all my slots ...

Re: The Trouble with Throwing Daggers

1) There's no 'action point,' so to speak, on any of the items in the game (daggers included). This makes it necessary to guess where to click the icon. With daggers, it's the very tip of the dagger. You can see what the action point of any given cursor is (in full screen mode anyhow) by moving it ...

Re: Quest for Glory Anthology Installer

Sent you a private message with a beta version of 1.2. Since I can't directly test it, please try it out and see if it works. It should try to grab icons off the CD but I put in a failsafe generic "treasure chest" icon in case it can't find any icon files. Apart from icons the CDs are almo...

Re: Getting QFG5 to work?

It seems to be the 1.2 patch that does it in fact. If I run in compatibility mode, the original game will start. Edit: Even the 1.1 patch won't work. I have to play 1.0 in all its bugginess >< 1.2 works if I delete the \Data\QGM folder. Not sure what those files are but hope they're not important.

Getting QFG5 to work?

OK, I've read and followed all the directions on this page , and while that helped in actually getting to the title screen, once I get there, I can click "Play" and get the new character creation screen, but anything (and I mean anything) I do on that page gives me a crash to desktop. I ca...

I had the desynched position actually with Uhura once. I kept swinging at her and whiffing, then I stepped forward (and ended up inside of her sprite) and I could attack her as normal. Don't really recall but think it happened when she got knocked down exactly as she moved forward or was trying to m...

Re: What was QfG5 like, anyway?

Even the Faery Folk battle in Qfg4 was really odd, the only true battle of the first four games with a long range focus; it comes down to having high enough stats to endure instead of strategy. There's a strategy to it, very much so. If you cast the proper three spells, you'll take virtually no dam...

Re: Quest for Glory Anthology Installer

Yup. It's just a batch file, which is more or less a macro for running DOS commands. All it does is run the command to list all files and directories on drive E:\ and writes the output to a text file called "directory.txt". Just put the CD in and click the icon, it'll make a text file in t...
