Re: Ploorbf :-E

By the way, Fribbi. If you've been translating the manual, I hope you haven't accidently copied the mistake in the walkthrough. In the walkthrough, east and west were switched around. I have mentioned that error in my mail, so now they know about it, but of course that's not gonna help everyone who'...

Re: Ploorbf :-E

Is it possible to import such a dump into the game again? I'm not sure if it'd be as simple as it sounds.

Anyway, I finished my dutch translation today (which included manual, readme and game), but since I used the translation that was posted here in order to create my own translation, I feel ...

Well...

Lots of games have an "official" strategy guide. Official means supported (or often) made by the company who released the game. In most cases the walkthrough is only a small part of the entire guide. But because of the status of both Tierra and KQVGA as fan-made, non-commercial (and non-bu...

Perhaps you would be the right person to write an unofficial official KQ1VGA strategy guide, complete with pictures and cool additional info.

I haven't heard of a Russian one...

...so that one may still be open. Fribbi posted his translation in one of the threads here, so you can copy and past it into a file. He has most of the text from the game as far as I know, although I can't be sure if it's 100% complete. But it's a lot.

It's a lot of work though. The whole fil...

They say patience is a virtue, my friend.

You know, I have started on a translation myself and I have to say it's truly a lot of work. You can't just litteraly translate every message in the game, because parts which sound right in one language sound weird in another one. (all your base are belong to us.. <...

Huh???

QG5 was the only voice-over game without a narrator.

Re: Amazing

Well about the voice pack: If all the text in the game would be done by the narrator, the voice pack would be hundreds of megabytes big and a pain to store or download.

Personally, if I'm trying something new I quickly get annoyed if I hear the spoken message "There's nothing to do there...

Re: shortcuts

That's really a matter of taste. I, for example, hate having my entire desktop filled with icons. I prefer an extra group in the start menu to three extra icons on the desktop. (game, setup, uninstall) Then again, wasn't there a menu that included all three options mentioned above? (some kind of auto...

Re: My only complaint...

(after taking an emergency shower...)

Now that you mention it, Adeyke, I noticed that too. Perhaps it was fixed already in the second version of the game, but in case it isn't: A shortcut to the game and setup in the start menu folder would be a welcome addition.

Re: For Tierra only -from fribbi

I used that form too. (vous/ihr)

However, since KQ1 is a family game and a translation is especially useful for kids who don't know english yet, vous/ihr keeps feeling kind of awkward every now and then. Still I guess it's still better to adress kids as adults than older people as kids/people...

Re: For Tierra only -from fribbi

Lira, are you using "vous" or "tu" in the messages? The english language has an easy one with just "you" and nothing else. <!--EZCODE EMOTICON END...

Re: For Tierra only -from fribbi

Do you mean people can offer to translate the game into their native language? That's cool. If Fribbi's post contained all the english lines in the game, I might consider doing a Dutch translation as well by taking the English lines from his post and translating them into my own language.

...
