Re: World of Sierra

I had an idea like this a while back. While it would be awesome, I think it would be cool to keep it all in a 2D VGA style, similar of that to Good Old Adventures.

One could possibly write a client in Java, and the server code in whatever one pleases.

Re: DOS?

My answer to Mac users:

-Darwine (The Darwin Unix port of WINE, the reverse-engineered system32 libraries)
-Cider: Uses some of the WINE engine to make it specifically easy to use games.

Try Darwine with a Windows version?

Or, Crossover Mac, or Cider from Transgaming?

Re: Adventure (pre-VGA) game remakes links list

Sadly, Squadron Six Entertainment isn't remaking Space Quest III anymore. There was a lot of management problems.

However, we did happen to give our source code to IA, I think.

Re: Play a Sierra Game!

I'm definitely up for this!
For oddity's sake, I'll be playing this in ScummVM on OpenSolaris, as that setup works out great for me. (A Java app on a Sun System? The nerve!)

I wonder, though: is it playable in Win 3.1 under DosBox?

Re: Best Tierra/AGDI Forum Moments

Good lord, a perfect thread to post in! I have so many very fond memories here, as they were the first forums I ever signed up for. I was 12 then, and now I'm 18. And after 6 years of waiting, QFG2VGA is almost done. I remember alot of things. I remember how funny TheKnight was, and when he left. I ...

Re: What Operating System Do You Use?

I've used Ubuntu. It's a nice starter distro for Linux. I agree with it not being on par for multimedia creation for the time being, though.

What Operating System Do You Use?

I always find this a fun topic to bring up on forums. So, without further ado, here's the ones I have set up on a Quad-boot, on my PC. - Windows XP: For the more advanced games that Wine can't play. - Mac OSX: Well, technically it's OSX86, a project to [illegally] run Mac OSX Leopard on PC hardware....

Re: Which comic? Spiderman? Fantastic Four? Manga?

I'm kind of surprised that "Watchmen" isn't on here.

Now THAT was a great graphic novel.

However, I'd have to say Justice League. I loved the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" series, as bizzare as it was.

Re: Background Art Tips?

Although I wouldn't call myself a "Sierra-styled' background artist, I do have a small bit of advice: Draw it on paper. I like to be able to see all the tangible parts of my background. After drawing it, I scan it in, color it, texture it, and save it. Then I import it into AGS, and promptly ru...

For adventure games, Adventure Game Studio is fantastic. I don't like the newer version very much, though.

I'm excited to see how SLAGE is coming along, though.

Re: Firefox 3.0 Released Today!!

Bah. I took part in Download Day. In my eyes, FF3 is a fantastic browser. Although, Safari is a bit faster on my Hackintosh (You know...Mac OSX on a PC) Still, I think that Konqueror, Aurora, and Epiphany are all great because they all are integrating Webkit. Nevertheless, it's not up to me to tell ...

Re: KQ 8 remake perhaps????

I disagree, KQ8 was a terrible way to end the series.

On the other hand: without such a terrible ending game, there would never have been a chance for The Silver Lining to occur. And look at THAT community, it's wonderful.

Well, I must be in some odd alternate-reality/time warp. It's August 5th, and Trial By Fire isn't out yet.

Conversely, their site changed on my birthday! Yaaay, July 31st!

Re: Activizzard selling Sierra?

I would love to see a community to buy out Sierra, and just Open Source all of the games. Not only that, but we'd be able to make SO many fangames on SO many platforms!

EDIT: On top of that, it'd be swell to see Space Quest 7 be able to continue with their project!

It's a shame you've got defective testers.
I currently have no life, so if you need one more tester, I'm all for it.
