The 60hz used by NTSC is somewhat deceptive. What actually happens is that the screen is divided into 2 fields. If you started from the top of the screen and counted each pixel line, the odd lines would be in the first field, and the even lines would be in the second field. The fields are updated al...

I hate to be negative about AGDI, considering all the wonderful work that they have done. However, this sometimes starts to sound like Sierra themselves back in those days.

The only time I can remember that I ever had trouble with this was in KQVI. Talking to the ferryman the first time at the door of the ferry was a pain. He was very small on screen, he was partially obscured by Alexander, and you had a limited time to do it.

Re: Ron Gilberts: Grumpy Gamer

Anathoth I'm sure you've heard of this site, if not check it out!! Hmm, not sure what to make of that, but I will certainly check it out. Sadly, Monkey Island was one of the many games that I missed in its prime. I was really more into console games in days of yore. Of course, I realize now that th...

I got you all beat. I got 17/18 correct. I must admit, though, that several I only got through process of elimination. Still, it's a darn good score.

Check out this game. Use the number key pad to play. It's fairly self-explanatory.

It could have been worse. I had planned to make it 15 deep, but once I saw how large things were getting, I decided to use only 10 instead.

I realize it was a stupid, juvenile joke. Chalk it up to me having too much time on my hands. It was only for the reaction, anyway.

Not like it hurt anything. :rolleyes

Be aware however that with Windows 98, you may have to do some "tweaking" to get the sound to work properly in DOS mode. Most modern sound cards no longer include DOS drivers, so they can be quite difficult to get them to work.

Has anyone heard about this game Star Ocean: Till the End of Time? It's a new action RPG by Square-Enix, but I don't know anything about it. Does anyone know if it is any good?

Oops, killed the game. Three days and no reply. Guess no one has seen Big Trouble . I recomend checking it out if you ever get the chance. It is quite funny. Let's see if I can give you one a little easier. "Alright, listen up, you primitive screwheads! You see this? This is my boomstick!"

I know how you feel. My car failed emissions inpection last month since it was burning oil. I've been working on a valve job and replacing the piston rings this last week. Speaking of which, I feel the enchanter should've gotten some more attention instead of just being a random danger, and being involved with the cave. Well, much of the enchanter's influence had to be inferred. He wasn't really random; he was protecting that particular screen. He was also responsibl...

Yeah, this is probably the one thing that I would like AGDI to change. Clicking on the book brings you directly to the book. This leads many to believe that the book is the only hotspot on the bench. I would like to see clicking anywhere take you to the closeup of the workbench, then being able to r...

A couple weeks ago, my fiance brought over a game that she thought I might enjoy. I wasn't too enthusiastic (she likes video games, too, but her tastes are a little different than mine), until she gave it to me. It turned out to be "Grim Fandango". I had never actually gotten a chance to p...

I think it fits quite nicely with the others. My only suggestion would be to touch up the path a bit. Right now, it looks a little like water colors, and doesn't fit with the rest of the image, nor with the look of the paths in your other screens. It shouldn't take too long to fix up, I'd wager.

Actually, you can have a 320x200 background loaded in a 800x600 game. You just have to resize the smaller background before importing it. As he said, this will allow him to use the old blocky backgrounds with sharper, more defined character sprites. From what I can tell, this will give an effect si...
