SetObjectFrame simply sets the active graphic of an object to the specified view/frame/loop - it doesn't set the view of the object. If you want an object to be animated, use the SetObjectView method to first set the view for the object before you use the AnimateObject method.

You can't give Manannan the fish oil. Getting the oil in the first place on day 2 is the trigger for you getting mugged, and even when you get it back from the thieves on day 3, Manannan isn't interested in it anymore.

Well, technically it's not the beginning, as you start the game in the house. I thought the ending made perfect sense - once you've drunk the potion, it goes on about "how you love the wizard", and "have no interest in the outside world". Given that the entire plotline up to that...

Fribbi -> No.. it's a legitimate puzzle. Realising that you're starting to disobey him, Manannan has brewed a potion to make you perpetually subsurvient to him. Obviously, this would be a bad thing to drink, which is why the game ends if you do. The trick is to figure out a way to avoid drinking the...

I've got to say, having extensively beta tested all the KQ3+ releases so far, that Radiant's method of replacing the copy protection for the spells was brilliant. Now each spell has a set of symbols giving the casting instructions, and one of the game puzzles is figuring out how to decipher them. :D

And let's not forget Radiants KQ3 remake. It may be using the original graphics, but it includes an expanded plotline and new puzzles. :)

I'm an Aussise and I get it. It could be sort of an Easter egg. Like in the Ultima 7 Serpent Isle easter egg introduction, where the Guardian sends Batlin to the Isle to search for Acne medication :lol

Not really. As far as beta 4 is concerned, the final day gives you a chance to go back into the countryside to collect ingredients that you may have missed on the previous days to cast the spells. Note though that you can't actually use any of the completed spells, or do anything with the ship. You ...

Have you seen the Kings Quest III+ thread in the Game Making forum yet? The game is being remade by Radiant, with an expanded plotline and new puzzles. Admittantly it's using the original graphics, but I personally don't mind it.

The current beta lets you complete about half of the game already.

Yes, indeed you did. Whilst there have been a few aborted attempts to remake KQ3 in modern graphics, there is an active project by Radiant to remake KQ3 using the original graphics, but fleshing out the storyline. Check out the Kings Quest III+ thread in the Game Making Forum. Note though that the b...

Umm.. beta 4 was released on the 6th, nearly two weeks ago. Check out the thread on the AGS "Games In Production" forum, which has more or less been given over for the bug testing reports (whilst hints and other trivia are being kept here). We're now eagerly waiting for the release of beta...

They certainly did. We all stand in awe of AGDI, who have not only remade KQ1 and KQ2 (and KQ2 with an entire fleshed in plot) in their free time, they're also in the middle of remaking Quest for Glory 2, one of my all time favourite games. :rollin

Thanks for the nudge Radiant. I feel like kicking myself. After so many of the other objects having no look or use action, it never occurred to me to have a look at the cookbook. Now I'm happily able to cast spells. If I may say, it was an exceptional way to specify how to cast the spells without be...

I have to say that I'm having real trouble casting spells, and I'm wondering if any of them are even completable in beta 4, despite what you said Radiant. Particularly, I'm confused as to what the strange symbols are meant to represent, and whether they provide instructions on how much of each ingre...

Okay, explicit spoiler for getting past the cat follows:
Firstly get the empty jar from the box of equipment on the table behind the spellbook, then fill it up with water from the aquarium. You can use it on the cat to give a nasty surprise.
Actually, Radiant set up a series of Ctrl+char options for the purposes of beta testing. It explicitly tells you what the sequences are when you start the game.. Ctrl+T is the teleport option. As for the fish oil, I don't have the beta handy, but I think it was the middle shelf towards the left hand...

One of the easiest ways is to simply, using a Windows DOS prompt, type in DOSBOX c:\games\qfg4\sierra.exe - that is, supply the full path and filename of the executable you wish to run. DOSBOX will set up that directory as a dummy drive C and run the game. Or from the Windows desktop you can use Run...

Slight spoilers below.. shalker, although Radiant hasn't explicitly said it, you can't get down the mountainside at nighttime; the countryside is strictly day only. This is bourne out by the fact that if you try teleporting to any of the countryside screens, it explicitly tells you that it'll need t...

Nothing against your touchup work, but I personally feel that if a remake wasn't going to incorporate completely drawn from scratch high-resolution graphics, then having the graphics at the original AGI resolution is better than the quick touch-up style graphics

It may be better to keep all the bug reports in the one place, in the AGS Forums, rather than have it split between the AGS Forums and here. In addition to keeping it centralised, you'll be able to see bugs that other people have posted, so you don't keep repeating the same issues
