Safety net. You can give the beast a potion without adding a hair first, which will prolong its life span a bit the same way water does, but it won't have any other effects. I guess they wanted to save the player from messing up if he didn't get the hair-thing right the first time.

The potion for the saurus at the end is extra; it's not one of the three you get.

You gotta be kiddin - so 2 dispel potions for saftey purposes? Hmmmmm... Hard to believe  :(

Yet, it's true. There are no other purposes for the potions other than the beast.

I don't mind duplicate items. That way even after I use one, I can still have the other in the inventory. I like to have full inventory with many nice things to look at (like in QfGV).

Yeah, the healing potions' sole purpose is to get the beast from the desert to change back to it's original form. BTW, the potion at the end of the game for the emir is not one of those potions, it is a 'specially prepared' potion that Harik made for that event. It doesn't matter whether you've actually gotten the normal dispel potions or not in the game, that end game potion will always be there.

Kinda makes you wonder how Harik got that required fruit of compassion without your help.

i often wondered that myself.  if he could get it himself, then why did he need to make the Hero do his legwork?  of course, the same could be said for so many things in these games.

He could have possibly cut up the fruit and then stored the half/fraction of the fruit he didn't use, although that is rather hard to believe. Oh well, nothing wrong with the occasional inconsistnecy here or there.

I believe not helping Julanar at all still gets the emir dispelled, so it's still an inconsistency. But yeah...minor detail.

Naw, he lied about needing the fruit. The potions were just fine without it; he just needed something to top his salad.

Now that's exactly what I've always thought.. like, there should be a cutscene, after you turn in the fruit and get the potions.. where you step out of his room,
..and the view switches over to Harik's room, where he's opening a drawer chock full of dispell potions!  He pulls out the fruit of compassion you got for him, and he begins to slice it into a salad, 'Ah, what a delicious treat!'

:rollin

Still, however amusing that would be, it doesn't explain why he would also want the griffon feather... maybe he wanted to put it on a hat and sell it to someone (Griffon feathers could be expensive, you know).
