I can't believe nobody scooped this yet! :-)

Adventuregamers Quest for Glory II: Trial by Fire review not only mentions AGDI remake, but also says that the reviewer played the alpha version and mentions that “besides greatly improving on the original's EGA graphics, the remake offers a number of other enhancements”. Lucky bastard! :p

Yeah I read that a few days ago. Indeed he is lucky to get an alpha copy of the game. Perhaps I should release Fanventures quickly enough to see if I can get an alpha copy too! ;) Well, by the time I do finish it, QFG2 will probably be celebrating it's 1st anniversairy of it's release.

While I'm content to wait for the release (the itching impatience disappeared some two years ago), it would be really cool to see the January 2004 build that was mentioned by Anonymous Game Creator #2, possibly with some sort of comment. To see the progress made, the challenges overcome, etc. As a lesson to all those in game-making. ;)

Arseny, I thought of that too.  What I'd like to see is the exact same trailer out now but done with that old build.  Comparing them would be very interesting.

Heh. Old builds REALLY aren't that cool.  I was cleaning my computer and found an old build of our KQ3.... wow.... ooof!

Dunno.  I love before/after stuff.  There was a great video out there that had the evolution of computer games.  They did it by category (sports, strategy, etc.), from the blocky Atari stuff to the full-motion, real-time 3D stuff of today.  Very cool.

Old builds are usually unplayable due to bugs. That's why they're old builds and not final release builds.

It's nice to know how far the progress is, but a demo too early is going to spoil me.

Heh... I don't mind old builds so much either.  I've still got a copy of the "multiplayer" version of the QFG5 demo kicking around on this computer.

Is good to see that it's getting to the point where it's distributable, if not actually ready to be released.

There's a major difference between a demo and an alpha build.

Old builds are grosser than anything you could imagine. Half the time, they've got placeholder AGI graphics or sketches for backgrounds. The other half of the time, they're fatally crashing on you. Truthfully, both of these things happen about once every 3 steps.

I am a little surprised (unless I wasn't looking hard enough) that this site didn't announce that stage of development.

Good news then, that also means the alpha phase is probably further along than I though.
