Maybe adventure games really aren't dead...

Not only do we have excellent folks like AGDI and others doing re-makes of classic titles and other fun companies like Himalaya Studios doing faithful-to-the-art new games.  I just saw this over at IGN.  If you (like myself) were also a fan of the Lucasarts adventures this might intrigue you.  Note who is working on it.

The moral of the story is that if we support companies like Himalaya Studios and other new games like the one at the above link.  Maybe we can upgrade the status of adventure games from dead to, as Miracle Max would say, "mostly dead".  :D

Yeah this has been known about for a while, and there are a lot of adventure games coming out soon so the adventure genre is far from dead. It's just seems that way because the major companies such as Sierra and Lucasarts don't deal with adventures anymore so it seems there isn't much hope. But you look around you will see many companies are taking it upon themselves to make them. Compare them to the amount of FPS or Simulation games coming out and it's a hefty difference, but it isn't really suffering.

It's not quite dead...

There are some great new adventure games out there.  My personal suggestions are: The Sam and Max series (original game by LucasArts) and Runaway 1 & 2

New adventure gaming revival? I will believe it when I see it.

I hope you prove me wrong. I want some new stuff.

Hasn't Telltale proved you wrong with Sam & Max?
