I'm still holding out for a QFG6, from anyone who produces quality work :)

I TOTALLY agree with both of you..   commercial (deserved $) and QG6-ish?

I got the impression that Hero6 is built off of the idea of "the 6th game like QG".  Not positive on that though.

I was hoping to get involved with/start an adventure game; but only if it was similar to the QG family.  I have lots of story ideas...  music skills...  and art skills...

Although it is not a QFG6, the Coles are working on a text adventure, called Famous Adventurer's School for Heroes, which is of course set in Glorianna.

More information will be forthcoming on the Coles' (Transolar Entertainment's) website and in an interview that I will publish in Strange Horizons (an online, weekly, speculative fiction magazine) on May 26, 2008:

Transolar Entertainment: http://www.transolar.com
Strange Horizons: http://www.strangehorizons.com

(Strange Horizons is free, not-for-profit, and volunteer-staffed, so I hope it is okay to post this link.)

Sincerely,

Joseph

Haha, I'll assume that wasn't a sarcastic question.  :\

If you're really curious, i do sprites (characters and console)/ scenary/ concept art.  You can find the few old works I have online here:
http://zail.deviantart.com/gallery/#Game-Concept-Art

As you can tell, I haven't really piddled around with doing "adventure-style" sprites much yet.  Going back to my roots (QfG) is a new direction of motivation for me.

I'm working on putting alot more of that newer stuff together on my homepage ( http://www.righteyed.com/games1.htm )...  but there's none uploaded yet.

(by the way, I'm not trying to "recruit" here...  just seeing if it's possible to connect myself to something that already is or could be established here.)

Awesome!  Thanks for sharing.  Exciting stuff.  I wonder how a text game is going to go over for the Gloriana world...  I bet the Coles could get a game studio behind them to make it a graphic game if they wanted to...  maybe they want a text experiance though.

How awesome would it be if AGD could convince the Coles to pitch them a Gloriana concept to be made here?  I know... pretty far-fetched, but it'd be fun to get behind the same minds that made some of the first great adventure games.

From a business perspective, I guess an advantage of a text adventure game is that the Coles (Transolar) don't have to get a larger studio behind them.  They can produce this kind of game quickly and very well with even a small team.

Lori, in the interview, also talks about some of the reasons that the School for Heroes text adventure appeals to her as a creative concept.

Anyway, yes, it'll be very exciting to see the School for Heroes develop, and surely it will help lead to other projects for the Coles.  I get the impression that they have game concepts for many genres, and I expect we'll see many of these ideas come to life, when they become doable for the Coles (Transolar) as a business proposition.

Sincerely,

Joseph

If someone did make a Quest for Glory 6 it would probably have to be like the later King's Quest games where a new hero is introduced. Either that or enclude a option to import your hero from Quest for Glory 5 on the condition that you rejected becoming king of Silmaria at the end of that one. Also since there are patchs for them I don't think remakes of any of the previous ones exept Quest for Glory 2 is nessesary, though, personaly I would like to have seem a more XP friendly copy of the Collection and Anthology disks. They work fine on XP exept 1, 2, and 3 have little to no audio. haha hey theres a idea, XP and Vista compatable audio files for those. too much hassle installing Dosbox just for sound :lol

Quest for Glory 6

I've lurked for a long time but today I had a lot of homework to do, but I felt strongly that I just had to reply (I guess I'll do anything to get out of homework). I completely agree with the previous comments concerning what Quest for Glory 6 should be. That is, I think that you should be the son / daughter of the previous protagonist who is out to make a name for himself. The mother of the hero should be based upon the character you choose at the beginning of the game. So, a Wizards mother would naturally be Erana whilst a thief s would probably be Katrina and so forth.

I doubt a sequel of Quest for Glory conned by the Coles is likely. I think the current gaming industry won't support it. They feel that people who like games are only willing to buy certain types of games which can be marked with certain tag words (I.E. 3D, GL, Completely zoomable interface). I don't think Sierra or Vivindi (sp?) has caught on to the fact that people just want fun and enjoyable games. It is unfortunate that they haven't realized that they really could dump a million dollars in the right game designers laps and just have them design a quick game that could sell for millions if they have the right writers and the designer concentrates on game play.

Anyway, I'd best get back to homework. Thank you AGDI's (and people) for redoing QFG2. Its always been my favorite of the series and I look forward to playing your version of it soon.

Oh, and your next project SHOULD be supporting the Coles in making QFG6 (Not possible? dang...).

Thieves cannot marry Katrina.  Though each class can marry at least two different women, the typical pairs are Elsa for the Fighter, Katrina for the Wizard, Nawar for the Thief, and Erana for the Paladin.

Quest for Glory 4 1/2 is the closest thing to QFG6 we'll probably get seeing how the situation is right now...

QFG4.5 clashes with the official QFG-storyline on so many points, you'd need a lot of imagination to call it a sequel.

(*Numerous Quest for Glory story spoilers in this post of some QfG sequel/prequel ideas*)

I've been dreaming up ideas... haha... not insinuating that AGDI should do any of them...  just QfG sequel/prequel ideas that I wanted to share...  just in case they might spark something  :\

1. A game that uses Elsa as the "main character".  It'd be pretty cool if she was sent from Spielburg to another region we haven't seen before so she could become the hero that we see in Dragon Fire.  I know as a former cursed brigand leader she obviously had some major skills, but what about the great sense of "goodguy-ness" she definitely has later on?
It's almost like she had done more than lived in the post-Hero Spielburg that whole time, just despising her "bad-boss" bro for years.  To me it's more like she may have gained the heart of a hero through helping others at least a few times.  She DID drive off the brigands and Bruno left as well, but I always saw that as a form of redemption, not necessarily a selfless deed of heroism that she seems well-acquainted with by the time the Rites of Rulership start up.  Are there any references in the games to what she did between the Hero's journey from Shapier to Silmaria?  The game could involve her meeting/helping Minos to build that kind of allied deception we see in Dragon Fire and could also feature playable Toro :D on some parts (maybe?).

2.  Live Erasmus' earlier years (getting spells, meeting Fenris and obtaining the purple castle or whatever).  He's got a whole lot of key backstory that I never payed too much attention to...

3.  Play the awesome swordsman known as "the weapon master" before or after his time in Spielburg (the cool dude at the castle you could train with until you beat him, who then left the entire series forever...  sadly).

4.  Take on Rakeesh's path to becoming a Paladin and slay the demons in Tarna that used to thrive there.  There's also that bit of back-story in QfG3 of a female Paladin befriending Rakeesh in a town of enemy "monster slayers" and becoming his Paladin trainer.  You could meet Kreesha, gain Soulforge and I think I even remember that Rakeesh sat on Tarna's throne for a time.

5.  I could also see the life story of Piotyr whom the Paladin-Hero saw as a ghost in Mordavia.  It would rock to fight an army of the dark one's followers (the "squid-mages"- forgot what they were called) as they were trying to summon their master for immortality.  Of course certain end game experiences would involve Erana's entrapment followed by a quest to destroy the rituals of Avoozle.

6. Oh...  another one:  the "Famous Adventurer" definitely had a long journey that we never actually saw much of... however he checked into areas ahead of the Hero, so it might be too much of the same worlds in his adventures?  I guess it'd be easiest to create of these ideas, but it would probably include stealing property (backgrounds) from Vivendi and changing them (which sounds like a very bad idea).

In my opinion, as far as doing another game in Gloriana, (IF anyone not-the-Coles ever does) I think those are much more likely than trying to continue the Hero's completed story, in any phase or direction.  There's just no more room for more adventures in his life.  Then again, I guess Rakeesh left his throne and family to help the people in Shapier...  why couldn't the Hero?

I wonder if the Coles would ever create some side-lore to any of the characters for an indie game company to create an "authentic" QfG spawn.

Anyway, any of those sound fun to play to anyone out there?

I'd prefer a customizable character rather than an stablished one, keep the character classes (Maybe even adding some new, a bard class could work in these games).

That sounds more like something for a mmo game. haha I wonder how a Quest for Glory mmorpg would work. Maybe a choices between playing as male/female human, male/female katta, male/female liontar, stuff like that. haha

Not really, basicly the story is your a new hero, freash from the Famous Adventurer's Corrispondance School so all the games are more or less your travels as a hero. The story is left open to interpretation.

Actually, the story in that game specifically states you're the same hero who saved Spielburg in QFG1 and instead of going straight from Mordavia to Silmaria, the hero returns to an alternate FACS and then to Spielburg.

Petition question

I just have to ask the question as I'm not sure if it has been asked. Is there a petition for QFG6 under the condition that it is helmed by the Coles? If not.. Why not?
(If pasting such a URL is against forum policy then administrators, please feel free to delete this message).

The site QuestForMoreGlory.com has such a petition.

Well, there have been many over the years.  Hero6 even started one in the beginning.

Check the Quest for more glory forums if you want. They've got a petition for the above as well as a few other QfG related stuff.

But it has been years and we haven't seen any remarks or interest  by VU/Sierra.

well I for one would LOVE Colonels bequest to be remade. one of my alltime favourites.

having said that I like the idea of an enhanced robin hood with voices and more plot. in fact to be honest, just to go back and add voiceovers to most of the old sierra games would be a great deal of fun! not that I mind reading, but some games (*cough*sins of the father*cough*) were so text heavy it was almost unbearable.

to be honest, other that CB I can't think of anything else to update. Maybe Larry 2/3 (though I dont think anyone but Al could do it justice)? all of my favourites (Dagger of Amon Ra, Freddy Pharkus, Kings Quest 6) were pretty much perfect. The police quest upgrade will be nice though.

So... who's wants to start writing the CB Remake?! lol

I would also like a CB remake, as well as a remake of KQ4 (since the current project is pretty much dead).

by ehmjay
Yeah KQ4 would be great.

Ooo! And a remake of KQ8... so that we actually had the royal family... and weren't running around killing zombies... and it resembled, y'know, kings quest.

sorry... but that game was utter poo if you ask me... which I realize you didn't. but still... tsk.

It'd also be kind of neat to see GKII redone in that VGA style... though a game that complex it would probably take 20 years!
