Surprise (two of them, actually)

#1 Post by gamecreator » Fri Aug 01, 2008 6:29 pm

From the designer journal dated January 23, 2006
We're also in the process of preparing somewhat of a surprise for the future (two of them, actually) which fans of the first two King's Quest remakes should enjoy, but to say any more at this point would be telling.
That was two and a half years ago. Is there an update to this? Are the surprises still coming (or did I miss them)?

It's a hint that they've been secretly working on a KQ3 and KQ4 remake all the while.

Will they be announced the same time QFG2VGA is released?

yea, are you at least going to be giving us another hint when QFG2VGA is released? I get really anxious and usually expect way too much when AGD announces they have a surprise, I start thinking Sierra is getting a Graphic Adventure department, internships, and all kinds of cool crap that would probably never happen. If nothing is going to be said, could you at the very least, tell us, when we will know what the surprises are?

I bet one of them has to do with Himalaya Studios though. I heard they know some people on the inside ;)

New updates on KQ1 and KQ2, that's my guess. Two surprises being total new games, that WOULD be a surprise.

Maybe. Except if you read IA's FAQ on Project X it says ...

Q: Okay then, can you tell us if it's an original title or a remake?
A: Project X is not a remake.

I don't mean sound ignorant, but I don't see how AGDI could have made more remakes as a surprise considering how long it took for QFG2 >D

However I am sure it will be awesome, whatever it is :)

Well, QFG2 is way more complex than say Laura Bow because of the whole battle system in itself. But there's more on top of that as well.

It's totally possible a couple games could have been made during this time. But I doubt it.

I'm not holding my breath for them to make a whole other game as a surprise. Maybe they add a couple of neat features to qfg2... but I doubt they'll do what they did for kq2 and make a voice pack for a later edition. That'd take forever.....

You're right, the battle system of Laura Bow in itself makes it way easier to reproduce that game.

Laura: "Oh noes who of those two am I gonna shoot?" = most complex decision of my life.

I meant QFG2's battle system. That sentence made perfect sense.

It did, I just read it wrong, thought it was funny, and then made a joke about it.

I wonder if it is possible that Radiant and Agdinteractive was working together to finish King's Quest 3 + that Radiant was working on before it was stopped. That would fit in with this Kings Quest surprise.

No way. If KQ3 was to be remade by AGDI it would be Daniel Stacey who'd rework the plot as he has the whole 'Father' storyline keyed in with the entire King's Quest storyline.

Hmmm... I'm pretty curious how the Father plotline would have been implemented in that game.

Urgh, Klytos. You're not with us yet. The 'Mother' is obviously the HOD of the British Secret Service!
