If you check the link to the qg2 music and such, you clearly see there's no server available yet. Therefore, you will NOT be getting the game tonight or any time soon :(

August 24, the year is 12191. Know that the whole of the known universe is ruled by the Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV. Know too, that the Quest for Glory 2 remake was released today. The most valuable resource in the Emperium is the spice Melange...

Just teasing, how about just a pinch more patience? You've waited for years for this, what difference does an hour or two, or even a day or two really make? Or to borrow from Jafar: "Calm yourself, Iago."

Muad'dib.

Nicely played. I'm pretty sure that in the original release that those lines are narrated by the Princess Irulan -- which would make sense because that's an excerpt from her diary. (Why is she writing that in her diary, does she have a REALLY poor memory?)

No clue... never read the books, and just watched the movie again last weekend, so it's still somewhat fresh in my mind. :)

I know it's hard to be patient when we're all so excited, but just think of it this way. If the people in a position to give us an update are here reading the forum, then who is working on getting the release out? :eek

The release is imminent which is something that we couldn't say even a month ago. So let's just hope that those wonderful people toiling away all weekend on our behalf haven't fallen asleep on their keyboards, and realize that maybe no updates are better in the long run. :)

Yes, it's Princess Irulan. And it's not her "diary" per-se, it's more like a history of the world. After she marries Paul at the end of the first book, she doesn't have much to do, so she basically takes up the life of being a historian.
It comes out more in the later books, but we've got the first one here, so I'll transcribe a small bit from the very last page:
"They say she has pretensions of a literary nature. Let us hope she finds solace in such things; she'll have little else."
She wrote a number of books that are quoted throughout the book, such as "The Manual of Muad'Dib", "Arrakis Awakening", "Collected Legends of Arrakis", and The Collected Sayings of Muad'Dib", "Muad'Dib: The Ninety-nine Wonders of the Universe", "Muad'Dib: The Religious Issues", "Count Fenring: A Profile", etc. So yeah, she was basically a habitual historian -- sortof a future-day Valentine (from Ender's Game) or Josephus or someone.

Normally I wouldn't write such a long post when a wiki link or copy/paste would have done, but we've got to fill the time in between F5's with something.

I've only read the first two books and the four prequels. Muad'dib, as interesting as he is, could neatly be summed up by "Hey, I have godlike powers... neat! Let's mess with the status quo!" Er... I've kind of derailed the thread here... sorry bout that!

Ah, Dune 2. Truely epic.

Truth. Dune II was one of the greatest games I've ever played.

Small excerpt from an article I wrote:
... The only reason I even read Dune, or harboured any kind of interest in it, was because of Westwood's Dune II, back in 1992. I was six years old and I played it on an almost daily basis for the next few years of my childhood. It was a most excellent game, but it had one minor drawback for me — I never really understood what the hell it was about ...

I actually liked the first one more surprisingly. It is a very unique game and even though Dune 2 is really considered to be the start of real time strategy Dune really wasn't anywhere near that gameplay and it included a whole lot of story whereas there was no story in Dune 2 really. I still play it from time to time.

This is my obligatory crying session where I whine and display my impatience and a distinct lack of savvy.

Ok, hope you enjoyed it. Time for sleep.

Savvy? I didn't know we had Captain Jack Sparrow as a forum member. Sleep well, Captain! The game will be waiting for you, I'm sure.

I've discovered that the passage of time has made me terrible at those games. The original Command and Conquer destroys me every time I try it.

Okay, I'm out. I have to be at work early tomorrow so I can tell my manager that his budget got cut by $100k. Yay.

Dune was fairly slow paced so its not too bad but Dune 2 screws me up every time anymore.

In the time I have farted around these forums today...

I listened to half my CD collection (which is small.)
I have downloaded 1 full length feature film, and have 72%, 62%, and 7.8% percent completed of three others.

They are
No Country for Old Men
Red Dawn
Grandma's Boy
You, Me and Dupree

I have read approximately 30 webpages.
I checked 3 different email address 3 times each.
I washed all my laundry from the last two weeks.
I ate delicious leftovers.
I drank 1 Coca Cola (in glass bottle)
I drank 3 Hawaiian Punch sodas
I made one business phone call
I used the restroom twice

I sorted through some old electronic equipment
I sorted through some snail mail

I posted stuff on the forums here, approximately 3.5 pages worth.

That's all that is fit to note.

Note to AGDI's: If you seed Torrents of your games, or offer Torrent links, you'll distribute the game in record time! Server load drops tremendously...
